Anbas Energy Systems Limited AES is led by a team of seasoned engineering professionals with hands-on experience in the successful delivery of oil and gas projects in West Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Canada. Their experience covers design, engineering, construction and commissioning of process engineering facilities, oil and gas production and treatment, flow stations, gas compression, and small and large diameter pipelines.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lagos

Job Description

• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with our established schedule
• Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
• Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
• Provide input into department’s goal setting process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with IFRS standards
• Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
• Prepare Trial balance and maintain a fixed asset register
• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Prepare project accounts and advise management on profits and losses of projects
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and expenses
• Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Liaise with Management to improve financial procedures

Requirements

• Proven experience as a senior accountant
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of IFRS standards
• Awareness of business trends
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, e.g. Sage 50, Sage 1,
• Advanced MS Excel skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• BS degree in Accounting or Finance
• Must be Chartered with at least 5 years’ experience
