Job Title: ICT Administrator
Location: Abuja
Responsible to: Deputy Principal
Responsibilities
- To support the efficient and effective development of school communication systems.
- To work with all colleagues to develop a broad understanding of changing curriculum needs in order to create a clear vision for future ICT provision.
- To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the school’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To support the aims and ethos of the school.
- To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines, where appropriate.
- To ensure that the post holder is aware of and complies with, the school’s values statement.
- To lead and manage a team to effectively operate and develop all ICT systems to meet changing school needs.
- To ensure the electronic ‘face’ of the school promotes high standards, quality and effective communication, e.g. website, Virtual Learning Environment.
- To attend and participate in SLG meetings.
- To undertake training and development activities relevant to the position.
- To comply with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation, policies and procedures.
- To ensure that the School’s Administration and Curriculum ICT systems deliver an efficient and effective service to pupils, teachers and parents, including:
- Ensuring that all user accounts (staff, student and Adult Ed/Community) are managed and are allocated with appropriate access rights
- Efficient strategies are in place to prevent loss of data through illegal access and damage by viruses
- Ensuring data is archived and protected from accidental loss in both curriculum and admin domains
- Reacting appropriately and effectively on finding breaches of security and evidence of new risks to which systems are exposed
- To ensure that the School systems comply with current legislation.
- The development of the School’s systems, taking account of developments in the computer industry and educational organisations. This includes:
- The production and maintenance of the systems and technological aspects of the School ICT development plan o preparation of development proposals
- Active participation in developing, planning and implementing advanced communication systems for use both within school and between school and home, this would include the use of internet based technologies
- To effectively manage those staff responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of the Whole school ICT systems.
- To develop and maintain school policies with regard to standards of operation and use of ICT equipment throughout the school and ensure they are applied.
- To manage and control the Whole school ICT budget including preparing reports for the Head teacher and Governors, ensuring ‘best value’ at all times.
- To ensure that an appropriate system is in place and in use for recording equipment inventory details, including:
- Software licenses
- Proposals to the SMT of equipment to be written off o configuration details where necessary
- To manage, maintain and support those systems which provide the School management and information systems, including:
- Working closely with the SLT to ensure the systems provide:
- The data necessary to support the school’s drive for improved standards
- The reports required by external agencies o to ensure all ICT systems are used to support consistently high standards in safeguarding
- Having a detailed knowledge of the data stored and its use by information systems, advising users on efficient and effective use and development of the data
- Understanding the interfaces and cohesion between different school systems o logging, following up and implementing prompt and efficient solutions to problems identified
- Maintaining school wide electronic registration facilities for logging attendance and late-coming on the SIMS software including meeting statutory requirements for registration
- Acting as Systems Manager, giving access rights to staff, students and community members as appropriate, carrying out software upgrades, attending user group sessions where appropriate
- Working closely with the SLT to ensure the systems provide:
- To provide guidance and support for the Truancy Call system.
- Ensure that the Video Conferencing system is maintained as required and seek to promote its wider use.
- Liaison with external agencies and suppliers in the areas for which the post holder has responsibility.
- To provide members of staff with advice and guidance on School related ICT matters.
- To provide support for partner primary schools where appropriate.
- To provide out of hours support for ICT sessions as required.
- To carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility with the post.
- To ensure our school continues to be a place where staff are valued and enjoy coming to work for the good of our young people.
- All staff are expected to be courteous to colleagues and students and provide a welcoming environment to parents and other visitors.
