We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pharmacist

Objective 1

  • Pharmacy management and monitoring the cold chain

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an organized and clean pharmacy in the warehouse: the drugs must be tidied, organized in a hygienic and clear way according to Action Against Hunger’s rules of classification of drug, allowing easy access to the information (type of drugs, expiry date).
  • Organize weekly environmental cleaning in the pharmacy warehouse and environs
  • Monitor twice a day humidity of the warehouse and temperature of all refrigerators containing medications or any cold chain products and record it on the follow up sheet. And in all the rooms under controlled temperature.
  • Report immediately any deviation from the expected temperature and humidity ranges to the pharmacy supervisor, enquire the reasons of the dysfunctions and propose possible solutions.
  • Ensure that all medical supply is adequate:
  • Follow expiry dates of all pharmacy items and report items which need to be replaced and necessary follow up to ensure that items are replaced in a timely manner
  • Make arrangements for the proper disposal of expired drugs/material, a part from the rest of the supply
  • Collaborate when necessary to the destruction of the expired drugs.
  • Assist program team to amend the weekly/monthly request: control and monitor the quantity ordered
  • Ensure that the drugs supplied to the different centres are appropriate and necessary.
  • Ensure that appropriate storage of the drugs is occurring in the various centres
  • Prepare the solutions and medical items requested by the medical units and deliver them in timely manner.
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of best global practices

Objective 2

  • Monitoring orders and supply.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support the pharmacy supervisor to:
    • Ensure the reception of local / international orders:
    • Check that the number of box and their content match with the packing list and waybill.
    • Arrange in order the medical items as regards to their specificity and expiring date.
    • Record all entry of items on stock cards with the order number and expiring dates
    • Record the items either in terms of unit or box, according to Action Against Hunger’s specifications, in order to facilitate the process of orders.
    • Inform the program team of all problem or item missing in the reception of the order.
    • Ensure the quality (cold chain, packing, etc.) of the transport of medical items from the warehouse to HF
    • Regularly update the SFU based on SRO and incoming items.

Objective 3

  • Stock inventory and consumption reporting

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Record any medical item entry and exit in stock cards and SFU on a regular basis.
  • Do the weekly/monthly drugs inventory in collaboration with the pharmacy supervisor.
  • Report discrepancies and general consumption issues to the pharmacy supervisor.
  • Work with program team to amend drug request and stock quotas on a regular basis to prevent exceptional ordering.

Internal:

  • Pharmacy Supervisor: Line manager, exchange of information, coordination
  • Warehouse manager/logistics manager: exchange of information, coordination
  • NUT-H coordination team: – technical support, exchange of information,
  • NUT-H program team: Exchange of information, coordination

Position Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Technician

Skills & Experience
Essential:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pharmacist
  • Experience in stock pharmacy management
  • Fluency in spoken and written English language. Hausa language is desirable
  • Computer skills (Microsoft office)
  • Strong work ethic: punctuality, responsibility and flexibility
  • Strong sense of organization and attention to details
  • Capacity to work in a team.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with Action Against Hunger.

Remuneration
Minimum Monthly Basic Salary: NGN 156,995.

Job Title: Pharmacy Supervisor

Level: Manager/Supervisor

Objective 1

  • Management of drug supplies for each project according to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER procedure, SMOH and donors’ rules (depending on each donor)

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Provide input for international /national orders: draw up the first draft of orders with and under the validation of the Nutrition and Health coordination team (Nutrition and Health HoD, DHOD and regional co.), following the review of the projects’ standard list and finalize orders based on consumption and future needs arising from the developments in medical activities.
  • Ensure the followup of drugs orders and backorder
  • Ensure timely and regular supply of medical commodities to all project sites and health facilities to avoid stock-out and interruption of ongoing activities.

Objective 2

  • Technical support to Nutrition/Health Program on the management of drugs

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Follow up and analyse drugs consumptions per site in relation to protocols in force, populate the pharmacy database and ensure compliance with all pharmacy SOPs.
  • Ensure regular monthly inventory; gather stock indicators, analyse them and prepare the monthly pharmacy Activity Progress Report, pass it on to the Nutrition and Health coordination team, logistic team and program managers. Make recommendations on the risk analysis.
  • Share in advance information on pending stock-out of essential commodities with nutrition and health coordination team for prompt alternative sourcing to ensure continuity of program activities.
  • Maintain a global overview of medical stocks in the mission
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of best global practices.

Objective 3

  • Strengthen capacity of staff on drugs management

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Technical support to ACTION AGAINST HUNGER staff on good storage/distribution practices.
  • Ensure that all persons in the supply team are aware of the specificities of the medical items they handle by raising their awareness/coaching/training them on quality, sensitivity, specificity and the various products’ storage conditions.
  • Provide training for staffs (both AAH and MOH) on pharmacy management and pharmacy storage procedures (Bin card, stock cards, drug consumption sheets, etc.).
  • Make regular supportive supervision to all health facilities or mobile sites been supported by Action Against Hunger using the standard checklist and provide technical support to MOH staff on standard practice, make recommendations based on the observed gaps for better programming.
  • Conduct regular check on respect for GDPs: the layout of the warehouse, storage, product arrangement, reception, distribution and transport. Check with the logistic manager that recommendations are applied
  • Identify and suggest specific training need for MOH pharmacy staff.
  • Guide and support the pharmacy assistant in carrying out his/her daily activities

Objective 4

  • Performance Management.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to team members which includes: 10 minutes monthly conversation, 3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/end of contract appraisal.
  • Establish performance objectives, provide feedback, identify strengths and areas for professional improvement
  • Contribute to the professional development and improvement of team members by providing support

Internal:

  • Warehouse manager/Logistic manager: Line manager, exchange of information, coordination
  • NUT-H coordination team: technical reference- technical support- exchange of information, coordination
  • Program team: Exchange of information, coordination
  • Pharmacy assistant: Line management

  • SPHCDA, State Nutrition Officer, SMOH: exchange of information, coordination.
  • LGA Team/ Health facility team: Training, supportive supervision, exchange of information, coordination.

Position Requirements
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.

Skills & Experience
Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in stock management and clinical pharmacy
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hausa language
  • Strong sense of organization and attention to details.

Preferred:

  • Work experience in humanitarian settings and international NGO
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Previous supervisory role
  • Previous experience with Action Against Hunger.

Remuneration
Minimum Monthly Basic Salary: NGN 236,585.
