- This is a Save the children International (SCI) Project funded by Canadian government through the Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Society for Youth Awareness and Health Development (SYAHD). Titled: “Reaching and Empowering Adolescents to make informed choices for their health (REACH) in Sandamu LGA, Katsina State.
- Save the Children (SC) has been working in Nigeria since 2001, and is a strong, recognized and respected voice for children’s rights. Our programs currently support health and nutrition, education, child protection, food security, livelihoods and social protection in both development and humanitarian contexts. In Nigeria, the project aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) of adolescent girls and boys (aged 10-19) in hard to reach, rural communities in Gombe, Zamfara and Katsina states. To achieve this aims, the project has 3 broad objectives. (1) Improving access to high quality, gender-sensitive and adolescent- friendly SRH services for unmarried and married adolescent girls and boys; (2) Increasing the decision-making of married and unmarried adolescent girls about their own SRHR; and (3) Improving the integration of civil society contributions and evidence-based best practices in ASRHR policy design and implementation at local and state levels.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in a relevant discipline (Accounting Business Administration or any Social Sciences)

- Processes approval of supplier invoices and staff claims on the project
- Responsible for all bank deposit and withdrawals including transfers
- Maintain and issue receipts and cheques.
- Make payment to vendors and meeting participants
- Responsible for safe keep of financial files and records
- Ensure prompt remittance of statutory deductions
- Update the project fixed assets registered regularly

Job Title: Community Engagement Officer
Location: Katsina

Role Purpose:
- The community engagement officer will Coordinate, monitor and supervise the community based promotion and mobilization activities related to “Reaching and Empowering Adolescents to make Informed Choices for their Health” (REACH) project at the community level.

As a member of the REACH Project team, the community engagement officer will:
- Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with Save the Children’s Mission, Vision and Values and ensure their broader application by staff across the programme.
- Contribute to a conducive and productive work environment in a way that promotes accountability and high performance, encourages a team culture of learning, creativity and innovation
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support in the development of communications materials, participate in their review, and comment on print and electronic media materials including scripts, posters, leaflets, video/audio recordings
- This also includes working with the state team in development of programme case studies and documentaries.
- Organize Stakeholders participation, sensitization and advocacy
- Ensure strong link with state, local government and community stakeholders
- Work closely with state ASRH coordinator and Gender equality and child welfare officer to design and deliver communications interventions that facilitate behavior change amongst target groups across the focal LGAs
- Lead on planning and implementation of feedback mechanisms with leaders, communities and beneficiaries
- Be responsible for the strengthening and coordination of complain and response mechanism (CRM) activities
- Keep records of supervision and actions taken from own activities
- Link with other organizations present in the area
- Plan logistics and materials needs for the activities to be carried out
- Relationship building negotiation and problem solving with authorities, communities and Mobilizers / Volunteers
- Develop good knowledge of state and local government structures, parliamentary and political processes, traditional and religious structure and any other key decision making structures and how to influence them.
- Undertake a range of lobbying, communications and other activities to inform and persuade policy makers, religious/traditional leaders, community members, donors and politicians, of the value of REACH project in the community.

Role Purpose
- The Gender and child welfare officer report to the Team Lead
- The Gender and Child Welfare Officer with the support of the Gender Equality Advisor and the state team is responsible for supporting the integration of a strong gender equality perspective on the “Reaching and Empowering Adolescents to make Informed Choices for their Health” (REACH) project at the community level while also looking at child safeguarding and participation. This may include ensuring that gender equality is mainstreamed at the community and partner level throughout the project’s results based management frameworks, strengthening and supporting gender equality strategies and facilitating gender equality capacity strengthening for field teams via training and tool development.
- The post holder also provides technical support to the REACH project on gender equality at the community level. Additionally, as part of this role, the Gender child welfare officer will work closely with the Save the Children REACH team in the state.

- Support collection of reports and quality checks
- Collects data pertaining to safe space activities in the communities
- Verify the reported data by safe space facilitators to ensure accuracy
- Responsible for data entry and maintenance of database
- Ensure timely sharing of monthly data reported by safe space facilitators and other activities of partners with MEAL officer in save the children office
- Ensure quality benchmarks are adhered to during implementation of activities by partner staff
- Provide close supervision of safe space activities and also conducts periodic data verification exercises
- Prepares reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content
- Support the project lead in using the data for planning and decision making
- Support supervision of community ASRH outreach services
- Supports the logistics and coordination of field research activities
- Organizes events such as workshops, meetings, seminars etc
- Prepares correspondence as needed
- Build the capacities of safe space facilitators on data management.

- This role reports to the Executive Director.
Role Purpose
- S/He Provides overall project management oversight and ensure community-level implementation of the work-plan activities of the partner organization including progress monitoring, support and guidance to other staff members towards fostering strong relationships with women’s and girls’ rights organizations thereby improving the health outcomes of adolescent girls and boys in the project state.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Ensure the day-to-day implementation of REACH work plan activities for partners and provide input into the development, on-going management and maintenance of work plan with regular support from the State Project team.
- With support from the Project team in the state, provide technical assistance to the CSO staff and community members and lead relevant capacity building for them to implement REACH PIP as detailed in the work plan and to ensure that agreed targets are met.
- Manage the preparation, coordination, and execution for special technical events, such as trainings and supportive supervision including outreach activities.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, debriefings and other technical meetings.
- Compile State CSO level reports on project results, case studies and lessons learned.
- Develop CSO level annual, quarterly and monthly work-plans as agreed with REACH project team
- Facilitate, draft, and participate in the development of, and/or the timely completion/review of REACH technical reports, such as: monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports; strategic plans and work plans; and other ad hoc reports, as required.
- Participate in the design and implementation of assessments and evaluation studies, trainings, and workshops as at when due.
- Document best practices and submit timely and analytical quarterly and annual activity report.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationship with the REACH State Team. This synergy should include, regular consultation on matters such as but not limited to work-planning, review meetings and joint supportive supervision visits.
- Maintain good relationship with the LGA, SMOH and line Ministries working on the project
- Represent REACH project in LGA level meetings such as working groups, etc.
- Perform other duties and tasks as determined by REACH Project Director including coordination of safe spaces activities.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- First Degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Health, or Development
- Master’s Degree is an added advantage
- Candidates must have at least 5-7 years of progressive experience working in a similar position
- Experience working with an NGO a plus
- Interest in development issues and ability to work well with people at all levels.
- Strong computer skills required, especially the ability to work comfortably in the MS office package
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully in team environment
- Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;
