The Solidaridad regional office is based in Accra, Ghana and currently has programmes and operations in Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria.

Job Title: Field Agronomist
Location: Nigeria
Slot: 2 Openings
Job Purpose/Description
- The position would be based in one of the towns/cities in the oil palm belt in Nigeria.
- The Agronomist will coordinate, implement and monitor agronomic aspects of Solidarid’s projects; a (support for innovation and demonstration of best practices). The key task will be setting up, maintaining, monitoring and reporting on a series of BMP field demonstrations with participating farms and businesses.
- The position reports to the Programme Manager.
Major Responsibilities
Professional Advising and Consulting:
- Participates in identifying needs for external support and advice, elaborates on policy recommendations and develops a strategic approach to managing the assigned programme or project.
- Monitors project progress, reviews reports and documents concerning the progress of collaborative programs determines bottlenecks and recommends alternative courses of management action to the Program Manager.
Networking and Cooperation:
- Responsible for maintaining relationships with farmers and Institutions
- Co-operates with and ensures regular contacts and dialogues: does PR work and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental bodies and persons within the project/ programme environment as well as with other projects in order to enhance and maintain good working relationships
Management and Coordination Tasks:
- Responsible for coordinating all BMP activities (fIeld visits, farmer sensitization, training, data collection and collation, reporting, etc.) at the BMP demonstration sites.
- Coordinates and prioritises relevant project activities at the local level in cooperation with the partners, as well as in organizational preparation and in the implementation of these activities
- Training farmers and plantation staff in good agronomic practices
Knowlede, Skills & Abilities
- University Degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Business, or relevant subject.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in similar role
- Experience in working with policy makers, researchers, consultants and knowledge brokers in International Cooperation
- Experience in facilitating community development activities
- Superior presentation and facilitation skills
- Capable of working in a dynamic, inter cultural, multi stakeholder setting
- Excellent communication skills with ability to produce professional reports in English.
Job Title: Programme Officer
Location: Nigeria
Job Purpose/Description
- The position would be based in one of the towns/cities in the oil palm belt in Nigeria.
- To ensure Solidaridad achieves its objectives with regards to promoting sustainable supply chains through the provision of technical assistance and market support for quality commodity production.
- The role works in the field to ensure these tasks are fulfilled to increase income and improve livelihoods of farmers.
- The Program Officer has direct reporting to the Senior Program Officer.
Major Responsibilities
Programme Coordination & Management:
- Supports the Programme Manager to co-ordinate and manage the activities of programme components
- Assists in the planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars and other activities of the programme, focusing on the technical aspects.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Follows up the programme monitoring system and updates Information concerning the progress of projects, periodically documents and reports the results of the activities.
Business Development:
- Assists in developing project proposals, concepts and innovations.
Communication:
- Observes topics directly related to the programm & projects through evaluation by the press, direct dialog, forum participation, public hearings, seminars, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in working with policy makers, researchers, consultants and knowledge brokers in International Cooperation
- Experience in technical report writing and research activities
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)

Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Nigeria
Job Purpose/Description
- The position would be based in one of the towns/cities in the oil palm belt in Nigeria.
- The Finance Officer provides high level financial and accounting support to operations.
- The position reports to the Country Representative.
Major Responsibilities
Monthly Management Accounts:
- Capture monthly transactions and reconcile bank accounts and petty cash
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts receivables and accounts payables
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
Programme and Project Finance:
- Assist with programme and project budget development record project expenditure acutely
- Reconcile travel and expense advances monthly
- Prepare monthly project budget controls and liaise with project managers.
Financial Reports:
- Prepare project financial reports
- Assist in preparing for audit and liaising with auditors
- Assist in preparation of budgets.
Financial Administration:
- Prepare payment requisitions
- File and maintain all records of financial transactions and bank accounts in accordance
- with financial policies
- Maintain a sub – assets register of the office and for specific projects that are assigned
- Ensure that banking arrangements are adequate to support the operational activities and that all bank transactions conform to agreed procedures and are appropriately documented.
Compliance:
- Maintain accounting records and financial controls in accordance with organizational
- policy and donor requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or other related fields.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience in a reputable organization (international organizations, consultancies, bilateral agencies etc.)
- Accounting background and computer literacy are must
- Knowledge of Tally accounting software
- Service orientation – providing support to programme/project team members
- Ability to build consensus and work effectively within an international cross-departmental team.
