Job Title: Safety Officer
Location: Damaturu, Yobe
Key Requirements
Essentials:
- The role of the Safety Officer will be responsible for supporting the day to day oversight of DRC staff movements and ensuring that key information relevant to staff safety and security is disseminated. Advisories, Alerts and Reports to disseminate to all staff. Administrative and Safety operational tasks that support the day to day running of the Safety Unit’s Operations. The Safety Officer will maintain a high level of contextual awareness and strong coordination with Program and Program support teams at the field level. The Safety Officer will report directly to the Head of Base or the Area Manger with Technical support from Safety Advisor, and will be an integral part of DRC’s Safety Unit.
The Safety Officer responsibilities include:
Staff movement oversight and support:
- Travel Security Clearances: Prior to any movement complete all security briefings for staff traveling to high risk field locations. Ensure that established movement tracking protocols are adhered to by both the Safety Unit and all DRC staff.
- Field movement tracking: Coordinate with logistics staff when directed to support Field level movement oversight and support.
- Maintain car folders: Maintain car folders and all DRC vehicles and support logistics staff in maintaining the car folders.
- Driver orientation: Responsible to orient drivers on current context and road conditions. Train drivers on regulations and road safety.
Security incidents and data management:
- Incident database: Maintain a current database from various sources of all security incidents relevant to DRC operations in Nigeria
- Contextual reporting: Utilizing the security incident database, develop weekly contextual assessment reports and share it with Safety Advisor for review.
- SMS Advisories: Draft and disseminate as required SMS alert advisories for DRC staff when relevant and significant security incidents occur or elevated threat levels are reported
- Email Advisories: Draft and disseminate detailed Email advisories for DRC staff when relevant and significant security incidents occur or elevated threat levels are reported.
- Additional information dissemination: Ensure non-DRC support staff (Guards) is kept up to date on current advisories through face to face briefings and coordination with the Guard force management.
- Safety Unit documents: Prepare/Translate Safety documents in local languages and coordinate with field office for their support. Maintaining a central folder for all Safety documents.
- Contextual monitoring: Responsible for monitoring the security environment of operational areas and disseminate information in consultation with Safety Advisor. Continuously monitoring the security environment in all DRS’s operational areas and consolidating feedback from the Field Safety Officer.
Administrative and Operational support:
- Guard force management: Management of the guard force through ensuring standards of readiness are maintained, guard protocols adhered to and coordination with the guard force supervisors is routinely conducted. Ensure that guard payments and other administrative matters that have a direct impact on guard force readiness are completed in a timely manner. Ensuring that the contracted guard force maintains a high standard of guarding for all DRC offices and residences, and when required take corrective action in coordination with the Guard force management
- Procurement: Planning of quarterly and annual procurement plan through initiating/follow Order Requests (ORs) and coordination with the DRC Logistics and Procurement Unit to ensure all goods and services are delivered in a timely manner.
- Asset management: Maintain the Safety Unit’s current asset register and oversight on all assets that are both utilized and stored. Coordinate with the DRC Logistics and Procurement department to ensure that the overall DRC asset register reflects the Safety Unit’s current asset register.
- Physical security readiness: Conduct quarterly reviews of DRC facility physical security readiness within Damaturu and developing and implementing required repair or upgrade plans to currently installed physical security measures.
- Weekly and Monthly report: Responsible for compiling a weekly and monthly report for Safety Unit.
- Staff briefings: Provide DRC staff with current contextual briefings.
- Translation: Translate Safety documents (where required) in local languages and coordinate with field office for their support. Maintaining a central folder for all Safety documents.
Support to International Visitors:
- Visitor arrival packet compilation: Compile a current visitor arrival packet as directed. Responsible for maintaining the international visitor orientation record.
- Visitor briefings and orientation: Conducting visitor briefings and orientation on DRC safety systems, and briefing on emergency procedures, and safe rooms etc.
- Carry out any additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by Safety Advisor.

Requirements
Essential:
- Sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with others at all levels.

Job Title: GIS Specialist
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
The Position
- The role will be a junior position where you’ll work under the supervision of the current GIS Specialist in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the capturing, the management of databases and the sharing of spatial data/information related to the MRE and NTS activities of DDG in northeast Nigeria.
- The successful candidate will be expected to be familiar with industry standard Office, GIS and database software.
Key Roles
- Extensive knowledge of the ESRI software platform to support project teams in preparing technical specifications, whilst maintaining and updating existing GIS database.
- Maintain and update the GIS database, reference datasets and layers to reflect key information produced from KAP surveys, need assessments, Non-Technical Surveys with purpose of sharing this information digitally or as printable maps.
- Knowledgeable of various cartographic techniques to produce maps which meet the requirements of DRC/DDG field operations and other concerned partners.
- The ability to conceptualize field data collecting methodologies of DRC/DDG field teams to into GIS workflows.
- Capable of implementing of GIS applications across DRC/DDG operations to analyse data and disseminate information for project reporting purposes.
- Provide mapping support for supplementary products developed by the field assessment and survey teams.
- Contribute towards the identification and implementation of effective and adapted technical solutions for assessments and Non-Technical Surveys for DRC/DDG Nigeria. This responsibility may include training on data cleaning and management techniques, support for data analysis, and ad hoc mapping support upon request.
- Prior experience in oorganizing and supervising of GIS field data collection missions.
- Maintain the strictest confidentiality of data and processes. He/she will actively take measures to prevent the unauthorized sharing of information and data.

Key Requirements

Job Title: Protection Assistant

The Position
- Within the scope of DRC’s Protection projects, the Protection Assistant, under the supervision of the Roving Protection Officers and Protection Manager, is responsible for the day to day implementation of the various protection activities in the field locations under his/her responsibility.
- This includes conduct Protection Monitoring, referrals and follow up of referrals, (including establishing referral pathways), identification of IPA beneficiaries and follow up of cases, psychosocial support activities, monitor the protection incentive workers’ work and manage them on a daily basis.
- The Protection Assistant will also be responsible for supporting needs and programmatic assessments, supporting the preparation of activity and protection reports and analysis (information collection, community consultations etc.), identifying and communicating protection concerns in his/her locations, identifying and communicating programmatic needs in targeted locations, supporting the Officers in providing capacity building to key stakeholders, and in collecting and managing project data ensuring the highest standards of data and information protection and confidentiality.
The Protection Assistant responsibilities include:
- Ensure the organization and the implementation of all protection activities at field level in accordance with the agreed workplan (under the supervision of the Protection Roving Officers and Manager) and the international standards

Job Title: Protection Officer
Location: Damaturu, Yobe
The position
- Within the scope of DRC’s Protection projects, the Protection Officer will be responsible for the supervision of the Protection activities and team on his/her axis of responsibility.
- The PRO is expected to travel to field office on a regular basis according to the work plan established by the Protection Manager. Responsibilities include the management and direct supervision of the Protection assistants operating in his/her axis of responsibility, the supervision of the protection activities, the representation at local coordination meetings, as well as the liaison with key local stakeholders (partners, authorities etc.).
- The PRO is also responsible for drafting Protection Monitoring and activity reports (weekly, monthly, ad hoc) based on key finding and achievements.
The Protection Officer responsibilities include:
- Under the supervision of the Protection Manager, ensure timely and qualitative implementation of the Protection activities at field level, in line with DRC and international standards, and donor agreements. Activities include Protection monitoring, Referrals, IPA (Case management), Capacity building, Community Protection intervention, and advocacy efforts
- Supervise, mentor, and develop teams of Protection assistants in field locations, as well as teams of Protection volunteers (including workplan, capacity building, and technical support)
- Draft Protection Monitoring, activity reports, and evidence based advocacy note on a weekly, monthly, and ad hoc basis
- Represent DRC at local coordination meetings, establish and maintain good working relationship with key stakeholders in areas of responsibilities (I/N/NGO, local authorities, camp officials, etc.)
- Establish good working relationships and high level of communication with the Protection Manager
- In collaboration with the PIM Officer, report, manage, and analyze protection monitoring and protection activity data and key achievement
Key Requirements

Job Title: Supply Chain Officer – Fleet
Location: Damaturu, Yobe

The Position
- Responsible for running the day-to-day fleet aspect for the various emergency projects in Damaturu.
Fleet Maintenance:
- Oversee the repair and maintenance operation for all project vehicles in the designated office(s).
- Oversee assigned fleet’s operations and make direct reports to the supervisors and Area Manager as required on fleet performance and other operational requirements.
- Coordinate vehicle concerns and issues with the relevant managers as required.
- Work with the drivers to ensure a regular maintenance schedule for all vehicles and ensure that log books are kept up to date.
