Ignacy Łukasiewicz Scholarship Programme 2020 for Study in Poland (Fully Funded)

The Ignacy Łukasiewicz Scholarship Programme is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (Polish: Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej – NAWA within the framework of Polish Development Assistance.

The patron of the Programme is Ignacy Łukasiewicz, an outstanding Polish inventor, pharmacist, pioneer of the oil industry and the creator of the kerosene lamp.

The Programme aim is to support the socio-economic growth of developing countries (excluding European and Central Asian countries) through raising the level of knowledge and education of their citizens.Scholarship holders will be first recruited from the following countries: Angola, Colombia, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, The Republic of South Africa, The Philippines, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Vietnam.

Participation in the Programme enable to undertake tuition-free 2nd cycle studies (Master degree studies) at public universities in Poland supervised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, in the following areas of study: engineering and technical sciences, agricultural sciences, sciences and natural sciences.

Second cycle degree programmes are preceded by a preparatory course to facilitate undertaking studies in Poland, which is also covered by the scholarship. The preparatory course is aimed at teaching the scholarship holders the Polish language, familiarising them with Polish culture and introducing them to subjects related to the course of their future studies.

Participating in The Ignacy Łukasiewicz Scholarship Programme is a good path for those who would like to improve their intercultural competences. Not only does it give a possibility to become familiar with the Polish culture, but also is a great opportunity to join the multicultural network.

Candidates are selected on the basis of the calls for proposals announced on the annual basis.

Aim of the Programme

The Programme aim is to support the socio-economic growth of developing countries (excluding European and Central Asian countries) through raising the level of knowledge and education of their citizens. The scholarship offer is addressed to foreigners, given to nationals of the following countries indicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Angola, Ethiopia, Philippines, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Colombia, Lebanon, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Palestine, Peru, South Africa, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam; also to other countries covered by Official Development Assistance, with the exception of developing countries of Europe and Central Asia (the list of countries whose citizens may apply for a scholarship under the Programme is attached as Appendix no. 1 to these Regulations). The scholarships available under the Programme will be allocated as per the following proportions: 80% of the total to Applicants from priority countries, 20% of the total to Applicants from other countries

Scope of activities implemented under the Programme

Participation in the Programme enable to undertake studies at universities in Poland and other form of education (preparatory course preceding studies). NAWA Director’s scholarship is granted for the duration of the preparatory course and for the regulatory period of studies with an exemption from education fees at public universities. A monthly maintenance scholarship from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange to cover the costs of accommodation and living. The scholarship is paid for a maximum of 12 months in the academic year once a month through the higher education institution.

Deadline for submitting applications

The call for applications under the Programme shall be conducted in the period from 3 February until 16 March 2020, 3 pm Central European Time (Warsaw local time), solely in an electronic form via NAWA’s ICT system, available one the https://programs.nawa.gov.pl/login website.
