We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Programme Volunteer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Reporting to: Project Manager
Role and Purpose
- The Volunteer will be responsible for monitoring and supporting Alert’s scope of work on the reintegration of women and girls who have been held in captivity by Boko Haram.
- The programme will provide economic support, psychosocial and reintegration support, and case management to targeted women and the children.
- S/he will Monitor and support peacebuilding activities implementation of International Alert/partner organisations across target sites within MMC and Jere LGAs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree / HND in Social Sciences from a recognised institution
- At least 1 year of experience with a National or International NGO in a conflict or humanitarian setting
- Experience in community engagement
- Experience in Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), psychosocial support, child protection is desirable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good writing skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Language Requirements:
- English fluency (oral and written), Hausa fluency, Knowledge of other languages prevalent in Borno State (Kanuri, Shuwa, etc.) would be an advantage
Key Responsibilities
The programme volunteer will work under the supervision of the project Manager. He/she will support the following tasks:
- Monitor partner’s activities implementation in the field across projects and using appropriate monitoring checklists/tools
- Ensure all monitoring sheets and Means of Verifications (MoVs) are compiled and submitted to project officers/M&E unit after each field visit.
- Assist in randomly administering pre and post-test questionnaires to participants during dialogue sessions to assess change in knowledge, attitudes and behaviours.
- Identify and follow up on case studies and assist case study development
- Identify, make referrals and follow up on referrals to other organisation for psychosocial, health and other material support.
- Perform any other tasks relevant to the programme as required
