Job Title: Head of Tax and Transfer Pricing

Location: Lagos

About the Head of Tax and Transfer Pricing Role

  • Flutterwave is a fast-growing payment solutions company, with a footprint across Africa, U.S., and Europe. Our payments infrastructure allows for ease of payment across Africa and beyond, and also connects Africa to the global economy. In order to meet up with the demands of a rapidly expanding finance department, we seek to hire a Head of Tax and Transfer Pricing for our Group operations (HT&TT).
  • The HT&TT will report to the Global Head of Finance and will be responsible for all tax compliance obligations in the Group. The successful candidate will have to interact and supervise the activities of our resident tax advisors in each country we operate from.
  • The successful candidate will also be expected to opine on the tax and transfer pricing implications of business arrangements being considered by the Group.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Take full ownership of our tax compliance obligations across the Group, including monthly and annual tax filings (all taxes), transfer pricing filings, tax computations, capital allowance computations, adjustments to accounting profits for tax purposes, etc.
  • The main point of contact for all tax advisers in each country we operate from.
  • Develop good relationships with tax authorities in each country.
  • Attend to tax audit queries, tax audit exercises, transfer pricing audits, and other routine checks from regulators in relation to tax matters.
  • Review contracts with merchants with a view to advising management tax and transfer pricing implications of these contracts.
  • Review existing transfer pricing policy and advise management on recent changes in regulations that could impact the policy.
  • Review internal agreements within Group entities to ensure compliance with all tax laws and transfer pricing regulations.
  • Work closely with other functional groups (such as Operations, Legal, Treasury, Accounting, and others) to keep abreast of new business activities and address resulting opportunities, risks and tax consequences.
  • Work with the Head of Finance for Africa and Head of Accounting in relation to external audit engagements for each operating entity.
  • Training, retaining, and mentoring tax officers within the Group.
  • Attending to any other ad-hoc tax-related request.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Expertise

  • CPA/ACCA/ACA certification
  • CITN certification
  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience, with at least 5 years post ACCA/ACA qualification experience.  Experience in the financial services industry a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and Nigerian tax laws and transfer pricing regulations
  • Appreciable knowledge of tax laws and transfer pricing regulations in U.S. and across Africa
  • Appreciable experience in tax advisory project/engagements
  • Excellent understanding of revenue and cost of service recognition for a payment processing enterprise.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving
  • Appreciable knowledge of GAAP
  • An organized self-manager, with the ability to lead a team
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficient with MS office tools

Job Title: Corporate Treasurer

Location: Lagos

About the Corporate Treasurer Role

  • As a member of the Finance Leadership team, the Corporate Treasurer will be responsible for efficiently managing our corporate cash, executing corporate foreign exchange transactions, monitoring fx risks, and optimizing our working capital needs.  The Treasurer will maintain strong relationships with our corporate banking partners and help optimize our capital structure.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Monitor and manage corporate cash to drive optimal funding and investment decisions
  • Produce accurate and detailed short-term cash forecasts
  • Execute FX transactions, monitor FX risk, and identify opportunities to reduce FX risk on behalf of corporate
  • Partner with banks to identify opportunities to optimize capital structure, including through potential lines of credit
  • In partnership with our tax team, identify efficient funding and repatriation mechanisms
  • Ensure revenue is collected and bills are paid in a timely and efficient fashion
  • Prepare daily and weekly reporting on cash and liquidity
  • Oversee the end-to-end corporate bank account management process including the opening and closing of new accounts and managing access rights of each account as required
  • Ensure treasury processes adhere with internal controls and external regulatory requirements where applicable.  Develop and/or revise treasury-related policies, procedures and controls as needed

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Expertise

  • 10+ years of corporate finance experience including at least 5 years in international treasury.
  • Strong knowledge of foreign exchange hedging strategies, systems, and processes.
  • International experience with a combination of US and African assignments preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred (ACCA, CTP, CFA, or equivalent)
  • Broad strategic thinker who innovates, challenges, changes, and pushes boundaries to solve problems.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and organizational skills as well as a demonstrated ability to build long-term successful relationships with staff, peers and senior executives.
  • Ability to handle high levels of pressure and apply critical decision-making with constantly shifting priorities.

Job Title: Go-To-Market Strategic Finance Analyst

Location: Lagos

About the Go-To-Market Strategic Finance Analyst Role

  • As a member of the Finance team, the Go to Market Strategic Finance, Analyst will be a key business partner to our Sales & Marketing team, helping drive top-line performance and influencing decision-making.

Responsibilities Include but are not Limited to:

  • Provide analytical rigor and strategic perspective to help inform key decisions across our Sales and Marketing teams
  • Build detailed revenue forecasts, track performance, and understand variances to drive strategy
  • Drive sales & marketing planning, reporting, and analysis to shape and influence decision-making, including pipeline analyses, campaign analyses, budgets, forecasts, and performance reviews
  • Develop a point of view of spend effectiveness, allocation strategy, and risks/opportunities
  • Gain deep knowledge and understanding of Flutterwave’s business performance across geographies, customer segments, and end markets
  • Help define metrics and leading indicators of business performance and partner with the Data team to develop tools and dashboards to make these metrics widely accessible across Flutterwave

Desired Skills and Expertise:

  • 2 – 5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate / strategic finance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; guru at building financial models
  • Able to perform under pressure and happy to roll-up-your-sleeves
  • The ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
