Report To: Head of Department / Year Coordinators
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning organizing and implementing appropriate instructional programmes in an elementary e secondary school
- learning environment that guides and encourages pupil / students to develop and fulfill their academic potential
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver the curriculums relevant to the age and ability group or taught subject
- Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes and pastoral arrangements as appropriate
- Be accountable for the attainment progress, and outcome of pupils / students you teach
- Be aware of pupil capabilities, their prior knowledge, and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on this demonstrating knowledge an understanding of how pupil learn
- Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented, disabilities and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them
- Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standard of literacy duding the correct use of English
- Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a basis for sitting challenge learning objectives for pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions, monitoring learners progress and level of attainment
- Make accurate and productive use of assessment to secure pupils’ progress
- Give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress, their emerging needs and to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study
- Use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons
- Set homework and plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding pupils have acquired as appropriate
General Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Possession of a PGDE for discipline other than education is compulsory
- Must be a registered member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria
- Subject teachers must possess Cambridge IGCSE certification
- Ability to use digital tools and interactive display board to deliver quality teaching and learning will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 5 years post-graduation experience in teaching and learning.
