Purpose of Job
- To assist the Head of Continental and Global Governance Programme Division in the implementation of the Division activities for the attainment of its objectives.
Main Functions
- Assisting the Head of Division in initiating activities pertinent to global & continental Governance Programs and Projects at the APRM Secretariat with special focus on SDG 16 and SDG 17 (Effective, strong and efficient institutions) and peaceful societies.
- Drafting chapters and providing analysis to the APRM reports including Africa Governance Report and other knowledge products on Agenda 2063 and SDGs, particularly SDG 16, SDG 17, SDG 1 Poverty and SDG 3 health& governance, SDG 5 -Gender equality
- Assisting the Head of Division in following- up collaboration with International organizations including UN Institutions, AUC and other AU organs, and RECs to harmonize APRM engagement for the attainment of SDGs and Agenda 2063 in Africa
Specific Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Head of Division- M&E of Global and Continental Governance Programs and liaise with other Division’s team within the Directorat of M&E or another Directorate whenever necessary.
- Consolidating Reports, chapters of reports or data on different knowledge documents pertinent to Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063
- Reviewing invitation letters, agendas and other relevant necessary paperwork for the Division activities,
- Coordinating regional meetings, workshops and training on SDGs and Agenda 2063 including the VNRs and South-South Cooperation.
- Assisting the Head of division in implementing peer-learning, capacity building, and sharing of experience/expertise among AU Member States for the VNRs preparations, OECD-APRM Governance Program, and UN CEPA Principles.
- Assisting the Head of Division in following-up on Member States’ reporting on both agendas through the APRM National Governance Councils and Secretariats in AU Member States and raising awareness on the SDGs and Agenda 2063 M&E and Reporting tools.
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
- Master’s Degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or other related disciplines with 7 years progressively responsible experience of which 3 years at expert level relevant to good governance, development, and international cooperation domain. Or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Development Studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or other related disciplines with 10 years progressively responsible experience oe which 3 years at expert level relevant to good governance, development, and international cooperation domain.
- Experience in managing projects and programs related to Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063 will be an added advantage.
- Required Skills
- Conscientious in observing deadlines and achieving results
- Familiarity with international and AU regional policy processes and policy analysis in the relevant area
- Proficiency in one of the AU working languages, fluency in another AU language is an added advantage
Languages:
- Proficiency in one of the AU working languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish) and fluency in another AU language is an added advantage

Tenure of Appointment
- The appointment will be made on a regular term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be considered as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

Remuneration
Indicative basic salary of US$ 37,453.00 (P3 Step1) per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (57% of basic salary), a Housing allowance of US$ 21,832.68 (per annum), and education allowance (100% of tuition and other education-related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$ 10,000.00 per child per annum), for internationally recruited staff and a maximum of $3,300 per child per annum for locally recruited staff.
