Job Title: Adjunct Faculty – Physics

Location: Nigeria

Role Overview

  • We invite applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Physics.
  • We are seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals who are passionate about teaching and research in physics.
  • As an adjunct faculty member in the Physics Department, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our students’ academic and professional development and collaborate with a diverse community of faculty members.
  • This position is part-time and offers flexibility in scheduling.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Course development and instruction:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in physics, employing effective pedagogical techniques to facilitate student learning and engagement.
  • Design and deliver course materials that align with the university’s curriculum standards and the department’s learning outcomes, including syllabi, lecture notes, laboratory exercises, and assessments.
  • Use appropriate teaching methodologies, technology, and experimental equipment to enhance students’ understanding of complex physical concepts and encourage hands-on learning experiences.

Mentorship and Student Evaluation:

  • Provide academic advisement and mentorship to students, supporting their intellectual and professional growth and guiding them in their research and career aspirations.
  • Assess student performance through exams, quizzes, laboratory reports, and other forms of evaluation, providing constructive feedback and guidance to promote continuous improvement.

Research and Departmental Duties

  • Conduct high-quality research in your area of specialization, leading to scholarly publications and/or presentations at national or international conferences.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop interdisciplinary courses, engage in curriculum development, and contribute to the overall enhancement of the Physics Department.
  • Stay abreast of advancements and emerging trends in physics education, integrating relevant research and pedagogical practices into your teaching methods.

Preferred Candidate

  • A Doctoral Degree in Physics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in a specialized area of physics.
  • Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex physical concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of familiarity with physics.
  • Proficiency in utilizing technology, computer simulations, and experimental apparatus commonly used in physics education.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Active engagement in research, including publications and conference presentations, is highly desirable.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations and societies is advantageous.
