Livelihood Officer at Hope and Rural Aid Foundation (HARAF) – Adamawa and Borno

Hope and Rural Aid Foundation (HARAF) is a National Non-Profit organization functioning since 2011 but was officially registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the year 2016 with registration number RN: CAC/IT/:85536.
Hope and Rural Aid Foundation currently has three field and operational offices in Adamawa, Maiduguri and Yobe states of Nigeria. The organisation works in the Food Security and Livelihood, Protection (Child Protection/Gender based violence), Education and Shelter/ (Camp Coordination and Camp Management) thematic areas.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Livelihood Officer

Locations: Adamawa and Borno
Job Type: Full Time

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Ensure the development of a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to strengthening livelihoods and increase incomes that ensures vulnerable households are able to meet basic food and nutrition needs in addition to becoming more economically secure.
  • Coordinate the food security activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets and plans
  • Promote, uphold and model a commitment to the efficient use of agency and donor resources. Help ensure compliance with donor grants, including financial tracking and oversight of partner budgets, finance, administration and reporting to the donor.
  • Assist in the registration of target households, ensuring that the data is collected and is recorded appropriately
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of project plans, budgets and all documents contributing towards an overall project implementation.
  • Implement and manage livelihood development projects in accordance with project objectives and budgets.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design livelihood development programs.
  • Develop strategies and action plans to promote sustainable livelihoods.
  • Assess the economic needs and livelihood opportunities of target populations.
  • Responsible for the selection and verification of beneficiaries and coordination with the Program team and Targeting Committee, and using of selection criteria.
  • Actively engage and support in community sensitization.
  • Maintain clear communication with beneficiaries in accordance with humanitarian policies and procedures.
  • Organize best production methods/practice for the safety and dignity of beneficiaries.
  • Conduct field visits to project sites.
  • Provide close supervision and monitoring to the implementation of livelihood project related activities in the field.
  • Engage as part of project collaboration with other sectors within the Livelihood Incubation center to ensure a positive work environment and project coordination.
  • Build positive local working relationships with local communities, governmental organization and non-governmental organization and other partners.
  • Attend and report back on progress of project with Project manager and related meetings.
  • Manage the day-to-day implementation of project activities to achieve project goals and objectives including monitoring and evaluation of project outputs, outcomes and overall aims.
  • Identify, document and disseminate relevant project learning within the programmed to the project manager and Provide advice to other team members.

Minimum Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (or associate degree and equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in humanitarian environments with successful examples of livelihood project implementation.
  • A good written and verbal communication in English language.
  • Good computer skill, conversant with Microsoft Office applications, email etc.
  • Good in local languages (Hausa, Kanuri and Fulani), will be an advantage.
