Medecins du Monde (MdM) is an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, the world over, including France. Job Title: MHPSS / GBV Counsellor
Location: Katsina

Job Description
- Under the mobile clinic’s team lead, the MHPSS/GBV Counsellor will be responsible for the responsible for identifying individuals with mental health distress/ survivors of GBV, providing first line of care and linking them to MdM clinics and/or Government/partners facilities.
Responsibilities
Program Support
- Identify and respond to survivors arising needs and work in close collaboration with other team to ensure the survivors psych-social and other needs are well met.
- Deliver one-on-one Psychosocial support sessions to identified clients through MdM mobile Clinic.
- Deliver health education/sensitization on MHPSS and GBV related topics in MdM mobile clinics.
- Coordinate internal and external referrals to survivors according to their needs
- Work in close collaboration with GBV Officer to update referral pathways and systems between community and PHC actors.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Collect and report appropriate data of the mobile clinic.
- Ensure regular reporting and tracking of survivors referred using the referral tracker form.
Skills Required
- At least 1-2 years of professional experiences in relevant field (social work, psycho-social) Good knowledge of women’s rights issues, GBV and complexities as it relates to target populations.
- Commitment to the GBV/MHPSS Guiding Principles and psychological first aid
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) Hausa is a must.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with staff and other stakeholders.
- 1-2 years relevant experience Identifying common signs and symptoms of mental health distress.
- Ability to collect, analyse, and report on data to inform program improvement.
Personal Skills Required
- Ability to take initiative, work independently and foster a team environment.
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to work with people, good judgment, and commitment to MdM’s mission and programming standards.
- Demonstrate strong social and interpersonal skills with a high level of empathy.
- Ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable way.
