Job Title: Lead Engineer, Instrumentation
Location: Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt – Rivers

Activities
- Prepares maintenance programs for instrumentation systems covering measuring instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, well head control systems, F&G devices and other specialized systems.
- Supports routine maintenance concerns by treating material modification requests/ reports progress with expediting status.
- Ensures the CMMS system is regularly updated with correct equipment data, bills of material and adequate material replenishment plans
- Assists Instrumentation TADM with the review of material requirements with site and ensure correct replenishment plan for stock items
- Develops maintenance programs for specialized systems (e.g. PA/GA, F&G Systems, DHGs) and liaise with telecoms for support where necessary
- Acts as the focal point for specialized systems (e.g. PA/GA, F&G Systems, DHGs), and provide expert technical advice to the instrumentation maintenance leader and other departments
- Carries out obsolescence studies and renewal programs for the assigned specialised systems (e.g. PA/GA, F&G Systems, DHGs)
- Periodically reviews the CMMS reporting on PM’s and ensure that blocking points are efficiently resolved
- Technically leads and guides other departments such as process, production, and ECP on instrument related issues
- Reviews the instrumentation scope on SMRs and ensures that all relevant databases are constantly updated and archived.
- Initiates regular audits by third party specialists and prepares maintenance interventions requiring third parties such as OEM representatives
- Prepares, manages and supervises contracted instrumentation activities at site
- Develops and sustains a management program for gas cylinder availability for each site
- Ensures day to day technical management of maintenance contracts in place
- Ensures 100% availability for F&G and emergency systems through carefully planned PM programs, retrofits for ageing equipment and adequate MRP
- Liaises with vendors and the original equipment manufacturers for all queries regarding maintenance modifications, spare parts, drawings and the resolution of technical problems
- Ensures that all drawings, plans, manual and MELB are up-to-date and “as built”, and directs draftsmen to carry out all corrections to reflect any alterations, modifications and additions to electrical equipment systems
- Assists in preparation of instrumentation operations budget documents to JV partners
- Implements and defends provided instrumentation budgets before COMPANY and JV partners
- Reviews and checks work completed by contractors and site teams, ensures compliance with work satisfactorily completed, makes necessary corrections, and submits to the Head of Instrumentation & ICSS for endorsement and payment processing
- Supervises the implementation of instrumentation modification/ improvement projects to ensure safe, cost-effective and timely execution in accordance with Company’s General Specifications
- Contributes during technical and safety analysis of equipment failures and shutdowns on site and proffers solutions
- Troubleshoot complex or recurring instrumentation problems, which require resolution with help of other departments
- Liaises with OEM for queries on maintenance modifications spare parts and the resolution of technical problems on site
Context & Environment:
- Functions within the maintenance department in Port Harcourt with field visits when required.
- Involvement with mature fields and legacy systems, with all the attendant obsolescence of old equipment. Ensuring proactive maintenance based on phased renewal of obsolete items.
- Striving to achieve cost savings and best value for money in maintenance activities and material sourcing without compromise on TEPNG standards
Additional Information:
- Responsibilities: To support onshore and offshore sites in sustaining required levels of reliability on instrumentation systems for process control and safety functions.
- Contacts: Liaison with regulatory authorities and representatives from DPR, NAPIMS, Vendors and OEM’s.
- E&P Referential: Good working knowledge of company rules and General specifications in order to ensure strict conformance to Group standards. Knowledge and applicability of local and international standards and codes.
- Assets: OML58, OML99, OML100, OML102
- Adequate maintenance plans for related equipment (e.g. PA/GA, F&G Systems, DHGs) and evidence of execution via CMMS
- Adequate material replenishment plans and effective liaison with C&P to ensure required stock levels at all times
- Effective execution of assigned contracts
Candidate Profile
- Formal education: BSc. / BEng. Degree in Electrical and Electronics/ Instrumentation/ DCS Engineering or Physics (2.1).
- Professional experience: 7 years’ experience with industrial discipline preferably with the oil or petrochemical industries.
- Engineering expertise in field discipline.
- Conversant with a broad range of instruments, valves, automation systems, ICSS, PLCs, etc.
- Technical reporting, mathematical skills and basic computer software skills.
