Job Title: Facility Operator
Location: Ibadan, Oyo
Specialization: Electrical or Mechanical Craftman / Technician
Job Descriptions
- As a resident maintenance technician at the IBEDC Head Office, the role holder is responsible for identifying and evaluating maintenance needs of the building and conduct or supervise repairs as needed.
- Also, ensure the effective daily operations of all technical equipment meant to serve the building in a safe and efficient manner
Responsibilities
Lift Operation:
- Operate, monitor the effective functioning and use of the lift facility installed in the Head Office
- Monitor human traffic on the lift facility and ensure safety of the passengers by attending to emergency situations promptly
- Monitor and regulate the maximum load capacity and the number of passengers the lift facility can convey at any given time without damage
- Report periodically the performance of the lift facility and ensure its scheduled repairs and maintenance.
Power Generator Operation:
- Operate, monitor the effective functioning and use of the installed alternative power source/power generator in the Head Office
- Always observe basic safety rules in the operations and maintenance of power generator to avoid improper operations and repairs
- Ensure safety operations of the power generator and attend to emergency situations promptly-avoid operational accident.
- Monitor and document the fuel consumption rate for the power generator.
- Monitor and regulate the service period/mean time before maintenance of the power generator and ensure its scheduled, preventive repairs and maintenance.
- Oversees the maintenance and repairs of generators at Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director’s official quarters.
- In addition, monitoring and operation of water pumping motors to the Head Office.
Effective Monitor Power Supply to Head Office:
- Monitor and promptly operate the electrical switch gear/change over at every loss of supply from the grid to the Head Office complex.
- Ensure safety operations of the changeover switch-avoid operational accident etc.
- Periodic checking of the electrical wiring system/line phase; ensure efficient load distribution in the head office complex, avoid phase overloading and fire outbreak
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of City of London Certificate or Diploma Certificate in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Technical School Certificate/NABTEB
- Minimum of 2-5 years of Facility Management Experience
Job Description
Leads a team;
prepares and trains individual participant in the team under set directions, policies, guidelines and procedures;
implements and provides technical advice by interpreting and applying functional philosophies, principles, and policies; and participates in the enhancement of the following processes in the:
• Management of Metering Services
• Management of Customer Complaints and Requests
• Metering Systems Maintenance Planning, Development and Implementation
Responsibilities
Resource Management:
- Lead the development of annual team goals and action plans to fully support organization goals and priorities
- Lead the implementation of Metering Services processes in the team, identifies and recommends enhancements in the process and in the information system
- Develop employee performance plans, trains and counsels team members and identifies and implements measures to improve employee performance
- Monitor and evaluate team performance versus team goals and recommends ways and measures to improve team performance
- Oversee the compliance of Metering Services team members with Company codes, policies, rules and regulations.
- Supervise good housekeeping and maintenance of facilities, tools, work equipment and working area
Technical:
- Commissioning of new HT MD metering installations.
- Provides urgent metering services to repair, maintain or replace faulty, defective or obsolete MD meters as soon as is reasonably practicable.
- Prevent, detect and recover energy losses attributable to the interference with metering installations perpetrated by fraudulent customers.
- Ensure that each MD meter meets the performance, functional and technical requirements and applicable standards
- Certification and Re-certification of MD and NMD Meters installed in the Distribution System.
- Carry out periodic, random and unannounced inspection and/or testing of any Metering System and associated equipment for the purpose of ascertaining whether the Metering System functions satisfactorily or not.
- Deals with urgent and unscheduled calls from various Business Hubs within the franchise and attend to specific metering problems.
- Collate, analyze, vet and prepare Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company’s monthly Grid Energy meter readings from all the trading point meters across the 22 Business Hubs and forward same to the Market Operators for the preparation of the monthly Settlement Statement.
Qualifications and Requirements
- HND/B.Tech/B.Sc/B.Eng in Electrical Engineering
- Masters Degree is an added advantage
- Membership of NSE and COREN is mandatory
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Nigeria Electricity Distribution Chain
Job Title: Head, Metering
Location: Oyo
Specialization: Energy Utility Metering Technology
Job Description
- Develop high level and long term metering optimization strategy and plan in accordance to regulatory standards, company policy and ATC&C losses considerations.
- Provide technical and commercial leadership required to manage and safeguard all metering investments within IBEDC Franchise and assets
Responsibilities
- Responsible for metering activities across IBEDC franchise – Oversee all metering Planning, Projects, Calibrations and Investigations.
- Specifies and monitors metering equipment standards in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards for approval for use within IBEDC franchise area.
- Oversees and specifies meter asset needs and assist in system design for both new, up-grades and meter replacements for all category of customers.
- Oversees and validates new or up-dated equipment specifications from recognised / approved metering equipment vendors.
- Liaises with metering vendors to ensure regulatory and company standards and requirements are met in the design and supply of metering equipment.
- Oversees and stewardship of smart meter roll-out: working with suppliers to ensure a successful meter rollout to all customers category.
- Oversees maintenance instructions and spares necessary for the operation of equipment.
- Supporting the realisation of consumer benefits and return on investments in smart metering rollouts.
- Designs and planning of Metering Services processes for the Department.
- Oversees the Commissioning of new HT MD metering installations.
- Designs and oversees a system to prevent, detect and recover energy losses attributable to the interference with metering installations perpetrated by fraudulent customers.
- Oversees the collation, analysis, vetting and preparation of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company’s monthly Grid Energy meter readings from all the trading point meters across the 22 Business Hubs
Qualifications and Requirements

- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Nigeria Electricity Distribution Chain, with a minimum of 10 years in supervisory roles
