Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Project Management:
- Establishes project procedures and prepares project
execution plan including scope of work, deliverables list, master
schedule, budget, risk register for the MD’s review and approval. - Conduct all activities within the Quality and Safety Management Policies and Procedure.
- Maintain a positive attitude to all operations and represent
the Company in a professional manner at all times, in particular when
in contact with Clients/customers. - Be receptive to any marketing opportunities which may arise
offshore or onshore and immediately pass to the Business Sales Team any
information with regard to additional/variation or future work
opportunities. - Develops work plans associated with projects, and is
accountable for the timely delivery of projects in line with approved
schedules and budgets. - Act as company representative and play a technical role in contract negotiations.
- Monitors adherence to project schedule and budget.
- Advises and interfaces with suppliers and sub-contractors in
resolving project/equipment schedule and quality issues and initiates
corrective action as required. - Ensures that customer, HSE and quality management queries and issues are proactively addressed.
- Engages and informs Management and customer representatives
on timely and accurate project information and status updates. Provide a
responsive and technically robust solution to project issues - Interfaces and initiates discussion with customers regarding work scope and out-of-scope issues.
- Manages activities of multi-discipline and multi-location project team.
- Manages the human resource functions of assigned team
including, providing input to development, manpower planning and
resourcing, role reviews and performance appraisals. - Engages team in process improvement initiatives and coaching and counseling team as appropriate.
- Schedule and monitor subsea maintenance and have a thorough
understanding all subsea operations. Conduct periodic research and study
on subsea services and equipment, market trends and industry changes - Provides technical and engineering support and guidance to offshore or onsite teams.
- Plan and design production and testing of subsea control systems
- Train subsea engineers on specific project requirement;
conduct safety orientations and meetings; ensures that policies and
procedures are established, properly documented and strictly adhered to. - Maintaining customer relationships and sponsoring interaction to obtain more projects.
- Ensures regular equipment integration tests are carried out before project mobilization
- Management of all subsea work scopes related to an asset, including the management of contractors/suppliers for the work scope.
- Provide guidance and technical assistance to subordinate engineers
- Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
- Total responsibility for the maintenance and operation of
the ROV system. Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the
Company’s Safe Operating Procedures. - Ensure that the ROV, support equipment and crew are competent to undertake the tasks required.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and filed as required by the work scope and Quality Assurance System.
- Ensure communications with the offshore project
engineers/technicians are conducted daily. Assist in the preparation of
all required documentation. - Ensure that operations are run in a professional and cost effective manner.
- Continual assessment and training of all team members and
informing the Management and O&HPM of any short comings in team
members and recommendations for future training.
- Establishes project procedures and prepares project
- Operational Management:
- Maintain close liaison with Client’s Representation, OIM and Safety Representative.
- Brief all relevant personnel prior to every dive and ensure
the safe navigation of the ROV during other subsea operations, in order
to prevent entanglement. - Terminate any operation if, for any reason, it is considered unsafe to continue.
- Ensure that each dive tape and daily documentation is correctly completed and cross reference.
- Safety Monitoring, Compliance & Adherence:
- Ensure safety meetings are conducted as laid down in the Safe Operating Procedures.
- Ensure the safety of all personnel and equipment.
- Ensure that all relevant personnel are fully aware of the
Safe Operating Procedures concerning relevant ROV and support equipment. - Ensure regular safety inspections / meetings are carried out as per Company procedures.
- Ensure Risk Assessments are carried out for all activities.
- Ensure all near misses, incidents and accidents are reported.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Involved in selecting, assembling, installing, operating,
and testing of subsea systems equipment to ensure that it is in good
working condition and meets all the relevant safety standards. - Develop a maintenance schedule for all subsea project
equipment; and monitor that the maintenance and repairs are carried out
as at defined standards and timelines. - Maintain the Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and support equipment.
- Ensure that all preventative maintenance and repair work is
logged and filed as per the Company’s Quality System and Operations
Manual. - Carry out servicing and maintenance of the ROV and associated equipment as required.
- Involved in selecting, assembling, installing, operating,
- Assessment & Training:
- Assist in the training of crew members in relation to each
grade’s job description and competency standard. This includes, but is
not limited to, all aspects of the ROV system, operation, maintenance,
piloting, safe operating procedures, and data recording and general
operational requirements. - Assist in the assessment of crew experience and competency
levels in relation to each grade’s job description and competency
standard. - Coordinate and participate in the Company’s appraisal scheme
by providing written evaluations of crew members to the O&HPM
Department.
- Assist in the training of crew members in relation to each
- System Modifications:
- Promote and facilitate any technical developments or
suggestions that will enhance the overall technical and operational
capabilities of the ROV system. - Implement and organize any approved modifications to the
system, ensuring all changes are fully documented and included in the
manual.

- Inventory Management:
- Ensure the ROV system inventory is kept up to date and maintained as per the Offshore Inventory Control System.
- Ensure that all necessary spare parts are available and fit
for purpose and that any faulty units are returned onshore promptly with
correct documentation. - Familiar with and maintain awareness of the current
requirements and where applicable, the latest Industry Codes and
Standards including statutory rules and regulations. - Ensure that all activities are carried out in a manner
consistent with the policy on health, safety, quality and environmental
matters in accordance with specific procedures. - Ensure own safety and that of others is not compromised or placed at risk.
- Relationship Management:
- Conduct pre-dive briefings with Client.
- Maintain liaison with the Diving Superintendent and the Vessel Captain during joint operations.
- Keep Clients informed of any observations or incidents which may be considered abnormal.
- Departmental Reports- Oversee and review the required departmental reports and presentations.:
- Provide comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support.
- General coordination and supervision of the department’s deliverables.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Years of Experience
- 5-10years
Skills Required
- At least 8 years and above years in subsea oil & gas experience
- Experience with relevant ROV Operations
- Possess current certificates for all operation areas as per OGUK and other relevant guidelines.
- Conversant with the requirements of the ISO 9001 Quality Standard
- Advanced Subsea Engineering Certificate
- International diving certification
- Good communication skills.
- Marine engineer STCW III/2, or alternatively certified mechanic with Subsea experience
- String analytical and problem solving skills.
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility.
- Must possess working knowledge of regulatory bodies and general Subsea services
- Good interpersonal skills and time management skills

Educational Qualification
- University, College or Industry Education and/or training in Engineering will be an added advantage.
