Job Profile
In view of our expanding social protection portfolio, Mott MacDonald’s International Development Division is looking for social protection professionals for long- and short-term assignments in especially Asia, Africa and the Middle East, but possibly also for our office in Arnhem, the Netherlands.
We are interested to work with individuals who have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in areas related to social protection.
Areas of expertise may including any or more of the following: cash transfer and other safety net programmes, preparation of social protection frameworks, strategies and policies, design and implementation of M&S/MIS of social protection programmes, social insurance and other.
The purpose of the recruitment is to build up a pool of social protection consultants available for assignments in our projects or to support our business development process.
The International Development Division (IDD) of Mott MacDonald operates as three separate sub-divisions within the international development arena, two sub-divisions (IDE and IDB) are based in the Netherlands and the third (IDC) in the UK. Based on our joint expertise we are able to provide our customers with a broad range of international development services.
International Development BMB (IDB) provides innovative management and supporting services with public and private sector development and social sector development as key business areas, assisting institutions around the world in designing and carrying out comprehensive institutional development projects.
IDD recruits for a wide range of project assignments in the area of International Development. We are involved in 90 projects in more than 30 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. We work for international funding institutions such as the EU, World Bank, DFID and African and Asian Development Bank. We continuously tender for new projects and are frequently looking for additional/replacement staff on existing projects (long and short term).
Job Requirements
More specifically we expect that individuals applying will have:
An advanced university Degree in a relevant field;
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience working in the area of social protection, social insurance, cash transfers, labour intensive works programmes, implementation and design of social protection policy, safety nets, access to basic services for the poor and vulnerable, design and implementation of social protection MIS and M&E, financing of social protection, labour market interventions and the protection of workers, community based social protection, project/programme management etc.
A sound understanding of social protection issues;
At least 3 years of working experience in South or South-East Asia, Africa or the Middle East;
Strong communication skills;
Excellent English language skills;
Knowledge of other languages will be considered an asset.
Candidate Specification
Apart from identifying interested social protection consultants that would like to associate with us for assignments in specific countries and/or regions we also hope to solicit interest from two specific groups, namely from highly skilled experts in specialized areas relevant for social protection programmes and from project managers/team leaders with at least several years of relevant experience in managing social protection projects/programmes or projects with a substantial social protection component.
As the requirements of the projects we engage in vary from project to project, we are looking for a wide range of individuals as this would provide us with a broad range of skills to draw on.
