The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian Nationals for the position of:

Job Title: Systems Librarian

Job Description

        Working closely with researchers to manage the ICT for information services to support research.
        Provide support in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures for data and information management.
        Oversee testing and modification of Knowledge Center repositories.
        Develop web related applications to create personal or Knowledge Center web pages and content.
        Enhance Knowledge Center’s virtual presence on the web. Design experience with MS SharePoint is an asset.
        Support the implementation of new applications and/or adapt existing systems to meet user needs.
       
Develop system documentation and training materials (preferably
interactive digital ones) for the electronic information resources?
        Support the maintenance of metadata schema to enhance discoverability of digital assets?
       
Serve as the primary liaison to the E-Research Team and IITA IT unit to
integrate Knowledge Center systems functions with institutional
information systems?
        Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Knowledge Center Manager.
        Handle any other tasks as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

        Minimum B. Sc. in Computer Science and/or B.Sc. in Information Science/Library Science from accredited institutions.

Skills & Abilities:

       
Minimum three (3) years of experience in supporting library
applications and server systems, preferably as a systems librarian, an
institutional repository administrator, or a digital asset manager.
       
Experience with information repositories, data curation and digital
preservation, indexing systems, creating and updating taxonomy,
metadata, collaborative online tools and developing standards.
        Knowledge of copyright issues as related to scientific publications and electronic publishing.
        Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, in diverse groups of team members and subject matter experts.
       
Ability to identify and manage change to improve services and
efficiencies.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills

Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer​

Job Description

        Carry out data gathering in accordance with agreed-on procedures and standards, data collection training and facilitation, scheduling, sampling, routine quality control and checking of own and others’ work.
        Carry out M&E activities related to the work of the funded partners in the area including all funding sources used for Humidtropics mainly related to R4D and innovation platforms, and with emphasis on the area based cluster 4 grant activities that are part of the RBMS Pilot project.
        Ensure considerable extraction and computer entry of data from field reports, some analysis, and frequent traveling in the region.
        Ensure that primary stakeholders are involved to the fullest extent possible in undertaking RBM&E.
        Supervise the work of the Action Site/Field Site facilitators in the implementation of activities at Action Site/Field Site level.

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

        B.Sc/HND in Business Administration, Economics or Development Management and Planning from a reputable university.
        An advanced degree, especially in the Sciences (natural or social: e.g., agriculture, environment, ecology, biology, geography, sociology, anthropology) is preferable.

Skills & Abilities:

        At least 3 years experience in monitoring and evaluation, data processing or analysis, and advanced computer based data management and analysis.
        Ability to organise and train enumerators.
        Good contextual knowledge of local issues, community priorities, organisational relationships, social and cultural constraints and realities, and environmental conditions.
        Advanced computer skills, preferably with knowledge of database development (Filemaker) and statistical software (GNU R preferred).
        Sound mathematics and good English and French skills.

Job Title: Breeding Database Programmer and Manager​

Location: Ibadan, NG

Job Description
The successful candidate’s major tasks will include:

        Code and database development (in collaboration with BTI).
        Database administrator managing day-to-day operations.
        Training of users which will involve regular traveling in Africa.

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

        The candidate should have a Masters degree in plant breeding and extensive experience in crop database development.

Skills & Abilities
Core Competencies:

        Programming in Java, SQL, and PERL.
        Knowledge of web-development and a good working knowledge of Linux, and web servers are desired.
        Working knowledge of statistics and quantitative genetics linkage analysis is an added advantage.
        At least five years experience in large multi-user database development with inclination to crop improvement.
        Knowledge of hardware maintenance and operations.
