The Chief Technical Officer will work on exciting critical assignments like:
Taking charge of planning and delivery of the entire technical and operational functions (design, engineering, tendering, project management) of Transmission (extra high voltage & high voltage) and distribution construction projects, and utility system and other large construction projects that have significant electrical engineering components.
Planning, budgeting, coordinating, executing, monitoring, controlling and close up of all projects.
Implementing Total Quality Management System and 6-Sigma System for maintaining world class quality standard.
Developing new products and services through Research and acquisition of new technology, process, methodology and equipment/tools for company’s diversification and sustainable growth.
Utilization of modern machinery, equipment, tools and techniques for cost effectiveness, timely completion of the projects and quality compliance.

Desired Skills and Experience
The role will be based at the headquarters in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The CTO
will serve as the “number three” to the Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer. One
objective of the CTO recruitment is expand the technical and project management department of
the company and manage the day-to-day engineering and project operations, including resource
development, procurement, subcontractor management, project planning, management and
monitoring, development, health, safety and environment, and customer interface.
Our client needs a Chief Technical Officer who can execute over a fifty (50) multi-million dollar
transmission, generation and distribution projects on schedule, using a “best-in-class’ project
management process. The CTO is directly responsible for identification and facilitation of
technological advancement, improvements and enhancement; ensuring that all electrical
construction projects (transmission, distribution and utility) are optimally designed, executed and
commissioned; and ensuring all projects to be delivered within budget and time schedule according
to world-class standards. This role leads the establishment of world-class engineering design and
project management.
In terms of the performance and personal competencies required for the position, we would
highlight the following:
EPC expertise – bringing 15-20 years of experience in contracting, projects and delivery, ideally in
the power sector.
Power industry – broad understanding of the industry, which could have been gained in
engineering services, contracting, generation or transmission.
Commercial skills – a commercial flair for developing business along with financial acumen and
negotiating capacity.
Emerging market exposure – preferably West Africa, but could also be gained from having
worked in other parts of Africa, India/Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe or South America.
Political skills – government liaison will be important in Nigeria to overcome regulatory hurdles,
obtain necessary approvals and persuade and influence key stakeholders.
Entrepreneurial – must fit with the entrepreneurial culture of a high growth company. The
individual must be comfortable operating without high degrees of oversight and direction.
Qualifications – a first degree in a technical discipline such as electrical engineering is ideal, with
an MBA desirable.
