UN-HABITAT is currently recruiting for the position of:

Job Title: Chief Technical Adviser

Location: Kogi
Duration: Six Work Months, Starting December, 2014

Responsibilities

    The CTA will work under the overall guidance of the Senior Human Settlement Advisor responsible for Nigeria at UN-HABITAT Regional Office for Africa, Nairobi, Kenya and direct supervision of the Habitat Programme Manager (HPM), Nigeria.
    He/She will be a specialist with strong analytical skills in any of the core thematic areas and support the Kogi State Government in the preparation of Structures Plans for four cities; work closely with relevant State Ministries – especially with the Ministry of Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, as well as Coordinate and supervise the two Cluster/City teams and the GIS professionals.

The CTA, in close collaboration with appropriate government institutions and other stakeholders in Kogi State, is expected to take primary responsibility for and implement the following activities:

    Liaise with relevant Stakeholders
    Coordinate the outputs of the Cluster/City Teams
    Control quality of output
    Undertake Training
    Oversee activities at State level.

Job Title: Urban Planning, Land Use & Local Economic Development Consultant

Location: Kogi
Slot: 2
Duration: Six Work Months, Starting December, 2014

Description

    Each Consultant will be working in two of the four cities of Lokoja, Okenne, Kabba and Dekina in Kogi State, which will be grouped into two Clusters of two cities each. One of the Consultants will also serve as Team/Cluster Leader.

Responsibilities

    The urban planning and local economics consultant will be especially responsible for the themes Slums and Shelter as well as Local Economic Development.
    He/she will work very closely with his/her city team, which is responsible for one of the city Clusters as well as with the GIS professionals.
    The consultant will report to the Team Leader and Chief Technical Adviser (CTA).

Qualifications
The consultant will be a Specialist in Urban/Land Use Planning with Local Economics background and GIS experience. He/she would also have strong conceptual, analytical, technical skills and experience, including:

    Minimum of seven years relevant professional experience.
    Substantive and relevant experience in developing countries, especially in Nigeria and preferably in Kogi State.
    Advanced degree in related fields (e.g. urban and land use planning, architecture, housing) and also strong background in local economics (at least minor in economics)
    Demonstrable skills and knowledge of Nigeria’s urban sector and stakeholders as well as Nigeria’s economy, especially with respect to Kogi State.

Job Title: Experts in Governance, Gender and Anthropology

Location: Kogi
Slot: 2
Duration: Six Work Months, Starting December, 2014

Description

    Each Consultant will be working in two of the four cities of Lokoja, Okenne, Kabba and Dekina in Kogi State, which will be grouped into two Clusters of two cities each. One of the Consultants will also serve as Team/Cluster Leader.

Responsibilities

    The Governance and Gender and Anthropology expert will be especially responsible for the themes Governance, Gender and Heritage.
    He/she will work very closely with his/her city team, which is responsible for one of the city Clusters as well as with the GIS professionals.
    The consultant will report to the Team Leader and Chief Technical Adviser (CTA).

Qualifications
The consultant will be an expert in governance and gender. He/she must also have strong conceptual, analytical, technical skills and experience, including;

    Minimum of seven years relevant professional experience.
    Substantive and relevant experience in developing countries, especially in Nigeria and preferably in Kogi State.
    Advanced degree in related fields (e.g. gender studies, political science, urban planning and anthropology and also strong background in participatory planning).
    Demonstrable skills and knowledge of Nigeria’s urban sector and stakeholders preferably experiences in the Kogi State.

Job Title: Urban Environment and Infrastructure Consultant

Location: Kogi
Slot: 2
Duration: Six Work Months, Starting December, 2014

Description

    Each Consultant will be working in two of the four cities of Lokoja, Okenne, Kabba and Dekina in Kogi State, which will be grouped into two Clusters of two cities each. One of the Consultants will also serve as Team/Cluster Leader.

Responsibilities

    The Urban Environment and Infrastructure consultant will be especially responsible for the themes Urban Environment as well as Infrastructure.
    He/she will work very closely with his/her city team, which is responsible for one of the city Clusters as well as with the GIS professionals.
    The consultant will report to the Team Leader and Chief Technical Adviser (CTA).

Qualifications
The consultant will be a specialist in basic urban infrastructure facilities/services and the urban environment. He/she have also strong conceptual, analytical, technical skills and experience, including;

    Minimum of seven years relevant professional experience.
    Substantive and relevant experience in developing countries, especially in Nigeria and preferably in Kogi State.
    Advanced degree in related fields (e.g. Engineering, Urban Infrastructure Planning/Engineering, Environmental Sciences and Landscape Architecture) and also strong background in participatory environmental planning.
    Demonstrable skills and knowledge of Nigeria’s urban sector and stakeholders notably with respect to Kogi State.

Job Title: Urban Services and Transport Consultant

Location: Kogi
Slot: 2
Duration: Six Work Months, Starting December, 2014

Description

    Each Consultant will be working in two of the four cities of Lokoja, Okenne, Kabba and Dekina in Kogi State, which will be grouped into two Clusters of two cities each. One of the Consultants will also serve as Team/Cluster Leader.

Responsibilities

    For development of a practical, dynamic strategy to involve the community in and to ensure its success, it is essential that the work plan includes a focused Urban Services and Transportation component.
    The expert will work very closely with his/her city team, which is responsible for one of the city Clusters as well as with the GIS professionals.
    The consultant will report to the Team Leader and Chief Technical Adviser (CTA).

Qualifications
The consultant will be a Specialist in Urban Basic Services and Transportation Planning with GIS experience, He/she must also have also strong conceptual, analytical, technical skills and experience, including:

    Minimum of seven years relevant professional experience.
    Substantive and relevant experience in developing countries, especially in Nigeria and preferably in Kogi State.
    Advanced degree in related fields (e.g. Water and Sanitation Planning/Engineering, Urban Facilities/Services and Transportation Planning) and also strong background in participatory Urban Planning
    Demonstrable skills and knowledge of Nigeria’s urban sector and stakeholders as well as Nigeria’s economy, especially local economy in Kogi State
