Kogi State University Anyigba, formally came into being on 18th November, 1999, with the signing
into Law the Bill establishing the University. Administrative and academic activities commenced in April, 2000 with the admission and matriculation of 750 students into six Faculties of Agriculture, Arts and Humanities, Law, Management Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Education were established in 2012 together with new degree programmes in Fisheries and Aquaculture, Industrial Chemistry, Islamic Law and Library and Information Science. Kogi State University currently has about 23,000 students and has graduated 18,700 students since inception.
The post of the Vice Chancellor of the Kogi State University, Anyigba, Kogi State, Nigeria will become vacant from October, 2015. In accordance with the provisions of the Kogi State University Law, 1999, the Governing Council of the Kogi State University wishes to commence the process of filling the position of:

Job Description
The Vice Chancellor is the Chief Executive, Financial and Academic Officer of the University, ex-officio Chairman of the Senate, Chairman of Congregation and in the absence of the Chancellor, presides at Convocation of the University. He/she is an ex-officio member of the Governing Council.
The Vice Chancellor shall among other duties:
Promote research, teaching and high standard of academic excellence;
Regulate the admission of students, subject to the guidelines and procedures approved by Senate;
Be responsible to Council for the maintenance of peace, law and order on the campus;
Be competent at all times to advise the Council on all matters affecting the University;
Be responsible for the maintenance of discipline.
Qualifications
The candidate for the post of Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University, Anyigba, is required to possess the following qualifications and qualities:
Distinguished scholar who possesses a Ph.D. and is a Professor with demonstrated ability to provide exemplary academic leadership with strong research focus and tactful management capacity; candidate should not be less than Seven (7) years as Professor, and would not have attained the age of 65 years at the time of assumption of duty;
Scholar of the highest moral standards and unassailable character and proven integrity with irrevocable commitment to best practices in corporate governance, with particular emphasis on accountability, transparency and probity; to ensure optimum utilization of scarce resources for maximum public good;
Scholar with irrevocable commitment to the cardinal values of merit, consistency and fairness as operating principles and who can apply these across the board without succumbing to socio-political pressures no matter the source; in particular, scholar must not cave in under societal pressures out of the desire to remain in office;
Proven exemplary leadership qualities that will command the respect of staff and students alike;
Possesses the ability to create the much needed harmony between staff and students on the one hand and between members of the University Community and the wider community on the other;
Be a person with a clear vision and capacity to pursue the continuous development of the University even under resource constraints;
Be prepared to demonstrate commitment to the University’s vision, mission and core values, as well as the pursuit of its strategic objectives;
Able to attract funds and research grants to, and further uplift the academic stature of the University;
The candidate should be above board and will not foster personal, racial, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional interest.
The candidate should also be capable of inspiring members of the University Community towards the attainment of the goals;
The candidate must enjoy very good physical and mental health and free from health inhibition.
Conditions of Service
Conditions of Service are as applicable in all Public Universities in Nigeria save as the Governing Council of the University may modify from time to time.
Tenure of Office
The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five years.

In addition, each application should be accompanied by Certificate of Birth or Statutory Declaration of Age and a Certificate of Fitness from a Government hospital; e-mail address and GSM numbers;
2.) A statement of candidate’s vision for the Kogi State University in the 21st Century, not more than 1000 words (25 copies);
3.) In the case of a nominated or “searched candidate”, the CV must be accompanied by a letter of consent, duly signed by the candidate;
4.) Each candidate must have three referees who should be requested by the candidate to forward their referees’ reports direct to the Registrar, under confidential cover, the reference report properly sealed and marked at the top left hand corner of the envelop “Referee’s Report for the post of Vice Chancellor”. Such referees should be in a position to attest to the candidate’s claim to high academic standards, managerial capacity and moral uprightness.
