Kano State Government
– Based on commitments by the Present Administration of His Excellency
the
Executive Governor of Kano State Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje QFR to
consolidate the ongoing

reform of the State Internally Generated
Revenue (IGR) System in accordance with International Best Practices
towards enhancing effective and efficient service delivery, Government
has approved the sourcing of potential candidates for managerial
position in the State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR).

Against this background, applications are invited from suitably
qualified candidates within and outside the State Civil Service for the
position of:

Job Title: Director, Tax Audit

Location: Kano

Key Function


  • Carrying out investigation on corporate taxpayers.
  • Analyzing financial statements of registered companies to confirm tax liabilities
  • Sourcing of taxpayers information.
  • Investigation (verification of information provided by tax payers) to prevent tax evasion.
  • Facilitating support documents and other evidence for the prosecution of tax defaulters.
  • Undertaking taxpayers education.

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be
    an added advantage to candidates.

Professional Certificates:

  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as CITN, ICAN, ANAN and ACCA.

Work Experience:

  • Background career in Revenue Administration and candidate must
    have served the minimum of 15 years satisfactory service in the state or
    Federal Government

Job Title: Director Planning, Research & Statistics

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Coordinating the activities or revenue desks in all Zonal Offices.
  • Serving as Databank of the Board.
  • Collating returns from all department, units and area offices on quarterly basis.
  • Analyzing and assessing all data collected and advise the the chairman.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of each departments units and area office.
  • Plan and prepare annual budget of the board in conjunction with other departments
  • Coordinate and issue TIN to taxpayers

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be
    an added advantage to candidates.

Professional Certificates:

  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as CITN, ICAN, ANAN and ACCA.

Work Experience:

Job Title: Director, ICT

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Providing ICT technical assistance to the Board.
  • Date warehousing, back up to the PRS in Particular and other Departments generally.
  • Train staff in particular area of ICT as may be required from time to time

Job Title: Director, Personal Income Tax

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Tax payer registration
  • Gathering information on tax payers
  • Carrying out investigation on tax payers.
  • Raising assessment on all taxable persons in the state (Including Payee and Direct Assessment)
  • Compiling and submitting to collection department, copies of assessment made on all assessed persons.
  • Issuance of tax clearance certificates
  • Oversight review of tax assessment

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be
    an added advantage to candidates.

Job Title: Director, MDAs (Non-Tax Revenue)

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Identification and registration of non tax revenue sources.
  • Supervision and monitoring of the collection of non tax revenue on daily basis.
  • Preparation of monthly progress reports to the executive chairman.
  • Reconciliation of non tax revenue accounts.

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be
    an added advantage to candidates.

Job Title: Director Collection

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Collection of all payments from taxpayers and issuance of receipt.
  • Reconciliation of monthly statements of all collecting banks and that of pay-direct statements.
  • Compilation of monthly collection reports.
  • Keeping comprehensive record of collection and remittances by taxpayers.
  • Keeping records of all Paye operations annual returns.
  • Issuance of all revenue receipts to MDAs.
  • Collection and tracking stamp duties.
  • Compiling and reconciling of all IGR returns by MDAs.
  • Preparation of arrears list and annual balancing.
  • Keeping of WHT records.
  • Verification and reconciliation of returns from VIOs office.
  • Monitoring and supervision of all revenue generating MDAs.

Qualifications

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • Procurement and issuance of number plates.
  • Keeping records of all registered motor vehicles and motorcycles.
  • Sales of vehicle license.
  • Sale of Road worthiness.
  • Registration of vehicles and vehicle dealers.
  • Issuance of learner permit.
  • Issuance of registration books.
  • Issuance of change of ownership.
  • Processing and facilitation of driving license.
  • Preparation of monthly collection reports on road taxes.

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be
    an added advantage to candidates.

Location: Kano

Key Function

  • General Administration of the board
  • Representing the board at JTB meetings
  • Coordinating the activities of all Departments of the Board.
  • Initiating and interpreting policies of the Board.

Qualifications
Academic Credentials:

  • B.Sc/HND in Taxation, Accounting, Economics, Finance and Business Administration obtained from a recognised institution.

Professional Certificates:

  • Membership of a recognised professional body such as CITN, ICAN, ANAN and ACCA.

Work Experience:

  • Background career in Revenue Administration and candidate must
    have served the minimum of 15 years satisfactory service in the state or
    Federal Government, raising through the ranks on merit up to the post
    of director.
  • The possession of Information & Communication Technology
    (ICT) skills and acquisition of related managerial competence will be an
    added advantage to candidates.
