The Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State was established by the Federal Government in February, 2013, along with two others. Academic activities in the University commenced in 2014/2015 academic session.

Title: University Librarian
Job Descriptions
The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extension and for providing library services for the University Community.
The Responsibilities
Professionally qualified and currently a practicing librarian
Evidence of proven records of sound administrative leadership;
Computer literate and proficient in computer applications in library services
Competence in job planning, organisation and strategic thinking as well as ability to provide good leadership

Coordinate library services in the University and, as the institution expands, its Colleges, Faculties, Departments, Centres and Units
As a pioneers Librarian, play a critical role in the attainment of the objectives of the University and the implementation of its Vision and Mission.
Qualification
Prospective candidates must hold a good First-Class or Second-Class Degree in Library and Information Science from a recognized University, plus a Master’s Degree in the same area. Possession of a Ph.D will be an added advantage.
Must show evidence of considerable scholarship through research, exhibitions and publications in reputable journals
Be a registered member of the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) or/and Nigeria Library Association (NLA)
Experience
The applicant must currently not be lower than the rank of Deputy Librarian in a University or a Librarian in any other Nigerian tertiary institution.
He/She must have a minimum of Fifteen (15) years cognate experience, preferably in a University or other institutions of higher learning.
Other Important information
Tenure:
The tenure of the Bursar and the University Librarian as Principal Officers of the University is for a single term of 5 (Five) years each.
Conditions of Service:
The successful candidates shall hold office on terms and conditions obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by the Federal Government, appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council.
They will enjoy all fringe benefits and allowances normally attached to their respective positions in Nigerian Universities.

Bursar
Job Descriptions
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and is the Chief Financial Officer of the University responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and the control of the financial affairs of the University.
He/She should provide the University management with appropriate advice and support for all of the institution’s financial transactions including investments.
The Responsibilities
The candidate for the post should have the capacity of performing the following responsibilities efficiently and effectively:
As a pioneer Bursar, play a critical role in the attainment of the objectives of the University and the implementation of its Vision and Mission
Demonstrable integrity transparency and abiding by the Rule of Law,
Competence, responsiveness and ability to perform under difficulty situations;
Dynamic in the running of Bursary through the appropriate deployment of ICT, elimination of unnecessary bottlenecks and timely accomplishment of assigned duties;
Prudence in the face of inadequacy and the ability to advice the Vice-Chancellor on wise strategies for generating internal revenue;
Candidate must be in good health and not exceed the gazetted retirement age before the end of the five- year tenure.
Qualification
Prospective candidates must hold a First-Class or good Second-Class Degree in Accounting from a recognized University.
In addition, He must be a member of at least one of the under listed professional bodies or their recognised equivalence:
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA)
Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CPA)
Chartered Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA)
Experience
