Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State – Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes offered at the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State for the 2016/2017 Academic Session.

Entry Requirements
The minimum requirements for admission into the Higher National Diploma Programmes are as follow:
- The National Diploma (ND) in the relevant field with a minimum of Lower Credit grade obtained from a recognized institution, and a minimum of one year post qualification experience. In exceptional cases, candidates with pass grade and a minimum of two years post qualification experience in the relevant field may be considered for admission. Holders of ND from other institutions are to forward their academic transcripts and confidential reports, to the Registrar (Academic Affairs) for admission purposes.
- Five (5) Relevant credit passes, including Mathematics and English Language, at the SSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB and other O/L equivalent qualifications obtained at not more than two (2) sittings.
2.0) PRE-NATIONAL DIPLOMA (PRE-ND) PROGRAMMES
These are one-year programmes designed to prepare candidates for the subsequent admissions for full-time National Diploma Programmes in the following:
- Pre-ND Business and Management Studies.
- Pre-NO Office Technology and Management
- Pre-ND Science and Technology
- Pre-ND Hospitality Management
Entry Requirements
Candidates must possess at least five (6) credit passes in the relevant subjects in SSCE, GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent qualifications at NOT more than two (2) sittings, which must include English Language and Mathematics.
Note: All Pre-National Diploma candidates are advised to register for JAMB and present evidence of such registration.
3.0) CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES
A.) School of Business and Management Studies
- Typist Grade II Certificates (CSS).
Entry Requirements
Candidate should possess at least two (2) passes in SSCE, GCE, ‘O’ Level WAEC, NECO, or its equivalent (NABTEB, GRADE II TEACHER CERTIFICATE) or a pass in English Language or equivalent qualifications acceptable to the polytechnic.
Duration: 2 Semesters
B.) School of Science and Technology
- Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology (CSLT).
- Intermediate Certificate in Hospitality Management (CHM).
Entry Requirements
Candidates should possess at least any two (2) passes in SSCE, GCE, ‘O’ Level NABTEB. GRADE II TEACHERS CERTIFICATE or equivalent qualification, passes should be in Science subjects.
Duration: 2 Semesters
C.) School of Engineering Technology
i.) Intermediate Certificate in Civil Engineering and Building Works (ICCEBW)
Entry Requirements
- National Technical Certificate.
- Basic Apprenticeship Certificate
- Elementary Certificate in Public Works arid High Way Engineering.
- GCE, ‘O’ Level SSCE, (WAEC and NECO) WITH two (2) passes in Science subjects.
- Any other qualification acceptable to the polytechnic
Duration: 2 Semesters
ii.) Intermediate certificate in Mechanical Engineering Practice (ICMEP).
Entry Requirements
Candidates must possess any of the following:
- WAEC, GCE ‘O’ Level, SSCE or its equivalent (NECO, NABTEB) with passes in any two (2) subjects of the Science, Trade or Technical Subjects.
- Basic Apprenticeship Training Certificate (BATC) in any Mechanical Engineering Craft or
- Lower Credit in Elementary Certificate in any Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice, Auto, Machine Tools. Plants etc or working experience in the Mechanical Engineering outfit or
- Any other qualification acceptable to the polytechnic.
Duration: 2 Semesters
iii.) Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation (ICEI).
Entry Requirements
Candidates should possess GCE ‘O’ Level, SSCE or its equivalent (NECO NABTEB) plus one credit or three passes in any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing.
Duration: 2 Semesters.
iv.) Advance Certificate in Electrical Installation (ACEI)
Entry Requirements
- Candidates should possess Certificate in Electrical Installation at Intermediate level or City and Guild Electrical Installation Course B or its equivalent.
Duration: 2 Semesters
v.) Intermediate Certificate in Civil Engineering and Building works (ICCEBW).
Entry Requirements
Candidates should possess either:
- National Technical Certificate; Basic Apprenticeship Certificate; Elementary Certificate in Public Works and High Way Engineering; GCE ‘O’ Level/SSCE (WAEC & NECO) with two passes in Science Subjects or any other qualification acceptable to the Polytechnic.
Duration: 2 Semesters
D.) School of Information arid Communication Technology.
- Certificate in Computer Science.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should possess at least any two (2) passes in SSCE, GCE ‘O’ Level, NABTEB, Grade II Teachers Certificate or equivalent qualification, Passes should be in Science subjects.
Duration: 2 Semesters
4.0) Part-lime Programmes
i.) Diploma in Public Administration (DPA).
Entry Requirements
Candidates should possess any of the following:
- Holder of Certificate in Public Admin., Public Account and Audit, Local Government Admin., Social Welfare Admin., Community Development or their equivalents.
- Holder of Grade II Teachers Cert., WAEC/GCE ‘O’ Level/SSCE or its equivalent (NECO, NABTEB) with a minimum of five (5) Credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) or
- Any other qualification acceptable to the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda
Duration: 4 Semesters
ii.) Higher Diploma in Public Administration (HDPA).
Entry Requirements
- Holder of relevant Diploma Certificate or its equivalent.
- Holder of relevant National Certificate, HSC, NCE, ANBC or any other Certificate acceptable to the Polytechnic.
- All candidates in each case must meet the entry requirements for Pro-National Diploma Programme (specified in 1.0 above).
Duration: 4 Semesters
iii.) Diploma in Public Account and Audit (DPAA).
Entry Requirements: As listed in 4.0 (I) above.
Duration: 4 Semesters.
iv.) Higher Diploma in Public Accounts and Audit (HDPAA)/
Entry Requirements: As in 4.0 (ii) above.
Duration: 4 semesters
v.) Diploma in Computer Science (DCS).
Entry Requirements
- Holder of Certificate in Computer Science or equivalent or Holder of WAECIGCE ‘O’ Level/SSCE or its equivalent NECO, NABTEB, Teachers Grade II Cert.) with a minimum of five (5) relevant credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.
Duration: 4 Semester
vi.) Certificate in Public Administration (CPA).
Entry Requirements
- Any two (2) passes in SSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, NABTEB, Grade it Teachers Cert., with a pass in English Language or Mathematics.
Duration: 2 Semesters
vii.) Certificate In Public Account and Audit (CPAA).
Entry Requirements
- Any two (2) passes in SSCE/GCE or pass in Mathematics.
Duration: 2 Semesters
viii.) Diploma in Local Government Studies (DLGS).
Entry Requirements
Candidate should possess any of the following:
- Holder of Certificate in Public Admin., Public Accounts Audit. Local Government Admin., Social Welfare Admin., Community Development or their equivalent.
- Holder of TC II Certificate, WAEC/GCE ‘O’ Level, SSCE or passes including English Language and Mathematics.
- Any other qualification acceptable to the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda.

Note: Candidates applying for HND Programmes should request their former institutions to forward their Academic Transcripts to the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Kaura Namoda to facilitate their admission/registration. They are to also include evidence of completion of one year Industrial Training.
