Job Title: Operating Partner

Job description

Perform close oversight, monitoring, and capacity building at portfolio companies in which Sahel Capital has invested.

Candidate Profile:

  • Has led, managed, or had senior level responsibility in an agribusiness company. C-level or divisional position where clear responsibility for cross functional teams and P&L.
  • 15-years of relevant agribusiness operating experience.
  • Ability to coach Founders/CEOs of portfolio companies to strengthen long-term management capacity.
  • Willingness to roll-up sleeves at the portfolio company where necessary.
  • Should have clear understanding of how work at portfolio company links directly to value creation for shareholders, and in particular a private equity firm        

Candidate will lead efforts to:

Governance: Strengthen corporate governance, as well as company processes and controls.

Strategy: Develop and oversee implementation of strategic growth initiatives.

Human resources: Identify human resource gaps and oversee recruitment of senior executives to augment the strength of the company’s team.

Financial reporting: Develop appropriate monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reporting templates which can be used by company for ongoing reporting requirements.

Operations: Identify opportunities for improved efficiency and work with the senior team to resolve.

ESG: Assess, monitor, and facilitate the resolution of environmental, social and governance issues at portfolio companies.

Sales, marketing & distribution: Identify and resolve any sales, marketing, and product distribution challenges or constraints.

  • Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational reporting by portfolio companies to Sahel Capital. Work closely with portfolio companies to ensure that the content meets Sahel Capital’s requirements;· Establish base lines for development indicators with each new investee company; determine appropriate development targets for each company; and monitor and track development impact over the investment holding period.· Identify appropriate technical assistance intervention needs of portfolio companies, and lead efforts to resolve any identified issues.
  • Operating Partners would work with 3 – 5 portfolio companies at any given time based on time availability of the Operating Partner and need of portfolio company. Operating Partners would also participate in Sahel Capital team discussions on investment pipeline development and investment strategy; as well as Investment Committee, TA Facility Committee, and Investor Advisory Committee discussions
