- At Deloitte Nigeria we are looking to recruit a Chief Security Officer who will be responsible for developing and implementing effective security strategy to mitigate risk and safeguard the firm’s assets.
Role Summary
- The Chief Security Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of an effective security strategy to mitigate risk and safeguard the firm’s assets.
- S/he will manage all aspects of security for the firm, including investigations, due diligence, protection of intellectual property, information security, physical security, personnel security, security education and training, contingency planning and crisis management.
Role Specific Competencies/Soft Skills/Qualification
- Good written and verbal communications skills
- Time and work management skills
- Good application of appropriate security techniques and equipment
- Technologically literate with strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and other commonly used software
- Good management and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of Computerized Security Systems (an added advantage)
- Good self-defence or unarmed combat skills
- Good fire-fighting skills
- A degree in Social Sciences and other relevant professional certification
- Experience in liaising with civilian, police and military government authorities, as well as with regional, national and international institutions
- Experience of incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, set up and execution of an incident warning system (warden system), compilation of security reports and assessments
Responsibilities
- Manage the development, implementation and compliance of security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security i.e. asset protection, access control systems, and CCTV surveillance.
- Develop policies, budgets, plans and procedures for the Security Office, conduct quality control audits and evaluate work standards and performance levels ensuring uniformity, and effectiveness.
- Develop training programs and conduct training exercises to ensure firm’s preparedness for critical incidences such as fire and to raise employee awareness.
- Develop and maintain close and professional relationships with high-level national and international law enforcement, investigative, emergency response and other government agencies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and be up-to-date with current trends in the security industry.
- Ensure physical safety of employees and visitors, leveraging relationships to build sustainable competitive advantages through security solutions.
- Oversee incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches when necessary.
- Communicate security tips and alerts to all staff on a weekly basis or as the need arises.
- Monitor and ensure that all access control procedures are effective and stringently followed by all staff and visitors, in order to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Review security related information (e.g. security incidents and events, security support to daily activities, etc.) and use corporate or local information management tools to produce a range of analyses and in-depth reports, to ensure that information is readily available for relevant stakeholders.
