Babelos Limited is a Language Services company which offers a range of
services including translation, transcription, web, mobile, game
localization, voice solutions, and cultural consultation.
The core job currently is to translate various software packages from
English to African languages.
As such, Babelos deals at one end with
linguists who are specialists in their languages, and at the other end
with anyone who has material to translate/localize.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Yoruba Language Translator
Location: Lagos
Job Roles
- Translate English text to Yoruba and vice versa
- Run checks on the translations to mitigate errors
- Stick to approved terminology which will be provided
- Carry out bug fixes on translations reported with errors
- Report any errors in approved terminology by the issue tracker process
- Use specified translation software
Application Requirements
- Degree/Certificate in Translation or Linguistics (or related field) or equivalent experience
- Native speaker of Yoruba
- Proficient knowledge of English both oral and written
- Very good grammar and spelling skills in target language
- Familiarity with computers and linguistic software packages
- Ability to learn quickly
- Excellent attention to detail
- Accountability, ability to meet deadlines and to work in a team

Job Title: Company Administrator
Location: Lagos
Job Summary
The Admin will interface between linguists and clients and ensure proper and timely delivery of all tasks.
Job Roles
- Receive task emails and receive tasks on portals
- Read and understand tasks
- Prepare task emails for linguists
- Include necessary attachments
- Make email language simple and explanatory enough for linguists
- Send out tasks to linguists within 30 minutes of receipt
- Update all tasks and task details on Babelos portal
- Respond to any linguist queries asap
- Run the task designated linguistic quality checks
- Return to linguists for fix if improper
- Make fixes if possible and required to meet deadline
- Reply to clients with proper files/responses – email or portal
- Upload necessary files back to client
- Handle any feed backs from client on completed tasks with urgency
- Understand raised issues and required fixes
- Send to linguists in easy to understand format
- Follow up for linguist response
- In cases where fix is possible by self, proceed to fix if this helps meet deadline
- Make posts as scheduled on Company pages
- Ability to work at a basic level with all translation tools is required to be able to check on issues
- Check up on linguists at 50% and 90% of project deadline
- Receive linguist replies
- Check replies, returned files to ensure they are proper (formats, instructions followed)
Applicant Requirements
- Able to supervise others
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Aptitude for working with computers
- Good organisational skills.
- Must reside in Lagos (preferably within the Lekki/Ajah axis)
