Job Title: Community Awareness Recovery (CAR) Project Coordinator
Locations: Gbethromy, Lagos, Edo, River, Akwa Iborn States
Job Summary
- The Salvation Army Nigeria Is contracted to deliver the community Awareness and Recovery (CAR) program in 5 Operational locations (Lagos State Lagos City & Lagos Central, Edo State-’ Benin City, River State Port Harcourt and Akwa Thom State – Oron).
- The project aims to prevent and reduce the impact of modern slavery and trafficking in Nigeria by achieving the following outcomes:
- Increased awareness of and changed attitudes and behaviours towards modern slave and trafficking within local communities
- Reduced re-trafficking of and increased quality of life for survivors of modern slavery
- Enhanced understanding of modern slavery in-country and best practice responses required to prevent this crime
Key Responsibilities
- The CAR Project Coordinator is an essential position to delivering an effective and efficient program with lasting impact for both vulnerable communities and survivors of trafficking in Nigeria.
- In this role the personnel will be responsible for management of the project staff both in the Head office (Lagos) and in the 5 operational locations in Akwa Ibom state, Edo state, Rivers state and Lagos slate; two locations.
- He/She will also manage budget, administration and implementation of activities, outputs, objectives, Monitoring/Evaluation and Learning processes. Required to travel to project locations around Nigeria for support and monitoring.
- The personnel will work under the direction of The Salvation Army Women Ministries, Lagos.
Minimum Recruitment Standard
- The personnel must have obtained University degree (preferred Masters) in Social Service, Community Development or related field. He/She must have an understanding of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
- At least 2 years post qualification experience in Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery with local or international Organization.
- Practicing Christian or willing to work in sympathy with the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
- Age 35-’45years
Job Circumstances:
- He/She must have Knowledge of participatory community work,
- Proven track record in successful project management
- Ability to implement the CAR Project in the project locations in Nigeria according to the’ Project plan, budget and reporting framework.
- Design and Manage the Results framework, risk assessment, NIE&L plan and Sustainability plan for the project.
- Work with the finance department for smooth financial procedures.
- Require to travel to project sites
- Manage the emergency/short-term community accommodation & care program based in Lagos City

- Work with Salvation Army Corps (Pastors) Officers Work with volunteers to deliver plan of changing the community through meetings, dialogue and tools.
Minimum Qualification Standard
- The Personnel must have obtained University degree in social service and community development or related field and have an understanding of Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in community development project related to Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery.
- Practicing Christian or willing to work in sympathy with the Christian ethos of The Salvation Army.
- Age 25- 35years.
Job Circumstances:
- Knowledge of participatory community work.
- Ability to network with NGOs, Police, Government (local and state), private sector and Naptip in the state of operation.
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to build trust and communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Occasionally required to travel to Lagos City for training
- Required to live and work in the same Operational Project location and speak the indigenous language of the people including English language fluently.
- Proven ability of community mobilisation and counselling.
- Ability to write reports and case notes
