Job Introduction
- G4S Risk Consulting is seeking Expressions of Interest for a Lead Consultant for a potential security risk consulting project in Lagos, Nigeria.
- Applicants should be available from mid / end of April. The post will be for an initial period of four weeks. Please note that this is not an active vacancy. By applying, successful candidates will be considered for the Lead Consultant role should it become an active vacancy.
- The Lead Consultant will head up a four-man consulting team (comprising a Lead Analyst; a Technical Consultant; and a Ports and Maritime Consultant) to scope and develop a security and surveillance system for a petroleum complex / construction project near Lagos.
- The Lead Consultant will be responsible for producing a Security Plan for a Security Surveillance System, including a comprehensive site threat assessment.
- The Lead Consultant will be required to identify strategies to mitigate identified threats; develop the concept and framework for a security and surveillance system; develop the overall structure for security manpower and equipment; recommend an audit process; and, develop guidelines for the implementation of the Security programme along with appropriate training for its execution and a review mechanism to ensure it continues to operate effectively.
- This will be achieved with specialist inputs from the wider project team.
- The Lead Consultant will be responsible for managing the project within time, budget and quality expectations, and in accordance with G4S and international project management standards.
Role Responsibilities
Technical delivery:
- Conduct threat assessment, and identify and recommend strategies to mitigate identified threats
- Develop concept of operations for security and surveillance system, drawing together reviews and recommendations from subject matter experts on consulting team
- Deliver Security Master Plan and findings for client review in high quality report format and supported by client presentation before departure from country.
Project management responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing the project, resource management, quality management and risk management plans
- Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate production and maintenance of project management documents, including: project initiation document; stakeholder management plan; communication management plan; risk register; and weekly progress reports.
Customer liaison and management:
- Understand and manage client expectations and requirements
- Satisfy client expectations and security consulting requirements
The Ideal Candidate
Experience / education / qualifications:
- At least eight years security risk management experience at consultant level
- Undergraduate Degree preferred
- Prince 2 or equivalent Project Management qualification desirable
- Recognised professional qualification (e.g. Msc, CsyP, CPP) highly desirable
- Security Risk Management City & Guilds Level 4 minimum essential
- Oil and gas sector experience highly desirable
- Experience working in West Africa preferred
Skills and Abilities:
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Thorough understanding of the application of Security Risk Management methodologies and processes
- Proven security risk management experience within corporate, security and/or governmental environments. Identifiable experience of applying the risk management process to projects
- Good commercial understanding – able to incorporate security risk into other business disciplines
- Strong knowledge of integrated security systems and associated protective security strategies
- Awareness of commercial security industry developments and current best practices
- Strong project management skills developed within a commercial / consulting environment
- Effective report writing and document production skills
- Ability to analyse security risk environments and complex problems to identify vulnerabilities and derive mitigation options
- Strong business development skills
- Strong IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office
