Program/Department Summary

Essential Job Responsibilities
- Develop and review SoW for consultants
- Support project monitoring and evaluation activities
- Assist the collation of Quantitative and Qualitative studies
- Conduct periodic report writing
- Archiving of documents on google drive.
- Perform administrative and finance functions
- Perform any other duty assigned by supervisor
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, or relevant field, with a strong foundation in Research, Data Analysis and Reporting Writing
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in the area of Monitoring and Evaluation (Data collection, aggregation and analysis and report writing)
- Fluency in verbal and written English and Hausa language is highly required.

KanoProgram / Department Summary
- Girls’ Opportunities for Advancing Literacy 2 (GOAL 2) focus on institutionalizing and scaling the successes from GOAL 1, to ensure that Adolescent girls (15-19) across Kano state are better equipped for the school-to-work transition as a result of improved financial literacy, vocational choices and life skills.
- GOAL 1 successfully identified methods to improve girls’ confidence and knowledge around employment and financial literacy with 1,800 girls in 13 schools. Girls who received counselling and training on financial literacy and work force preparedness improved their confidence in education and entering the workforce. They were also better able to articulate their life goals and manage their money.
- GOAL 2 will scale key activities from phase one across Kano state, with potential to reach up to 253,712 girls in 536 government junior and senior secondary schools. Activities will focus on embedding quality financial literacy education and counselling within key local institutions including the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), the Kano State Secondary School Management Board (KSSSMB) and the Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD). Mercy Corps’ implementation will take advantage of two key opportunities:
General Position Summary
- The Senior Project Officer (Financial Literacy) will provide technical support and advocate to relevant government agencies in Kano state to incorporate financial literacy into relevant subjects in schools by making sure that financial literacy is a permanent and routine piece of secondary school curriculum across Kano state.
- This position will focus on institutionalization of financial literacy materials within the Kano education system and building capacity of government agencies to coordinate trainings and offer technical support both during and beyond the implementation of the project.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support technical aspects of the project in institutionalizing and delivering financial literacy into secondary education through the support of relevant government staff
- Advocate to the government of Kano state through the ministry of education to roll out Mercy Corps financial literacy training guide in secondary schools
- Support government officials to conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) and capacity strengthening trainings to teachers to deliver financial literacy in schools.
- Coordinate links with ministry of education and its agencies to ensure the implementation of activities on time, target and budget
- Identify relevant resources within government, donor organizations, private sector organizations that supports and promote financial literacy teaching in schools.
- In collaboration with M&E staff, implement relevant need assessments, data and information collection for on-going project monitoring
- Support in setting up and strengthening government management information system, communication and knowledge management
- Facilitate relationship and coordination with government to ensure that project activities are geared toward institutionalization and sustainability
- Coordinate closely with other GOAL 2 personnel to ensure all objectives of the proposal and activities are met.
- Representation
- Represent the project at government relevant meetings in the field, in close coordination with the Project Manager
- Collaborate and build relationships with government, NGOs to complement donor funding
- Accountability
- Reports Directly To: Project Manager
- Works Directly with: Deputy Director Curriculum at KERD, other staff of ministry of education and its agencies, project staff and Mercy Corps gender programs team in the field and at HQ.
Knowledge and Experience
- BA/S or equivalent in Education, Management, Social Sciences, Development Studies or other relevant field. A relevant second degree desired.
- Expertise in financial literacy, with a preference for candidates that demonstrate experience increasing financial literacy of marginalized girls.
- Experience designing, organizing and/or delivering trainings, ideally to teachers within the public education sector.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in programme design and implementation, education, financial inclusion, gender- focused, skills building program.
- Demonstrated experience working with government ministries officials, Ministry of Education and its agencies, and /Central Bank of Nigeria experience preferred.
- Experience in project sustainability and institutional capacity strengthening
- Experience managing secondary education or school to work and especially targeting marginalized girls required. Prefer expertise in at least one of the following areas: accelerated learning programs, savings group, and financial education.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English required, including report development, writing and editing. Hausa language skills strongly preferred
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and coordination skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Experience in Northern Nigeria strongly essential.

General Position Summary
- The Logistics Officer will ensure the proper management of Mercy Corps Fleets, recording and tracking of Assets, plan movement and transportation of staffs and also ware house management of all Mercy Corps in Abuja in accordance with Mercy Corps/donor fleet management policy, Asset management and ware house management policy.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Fleet Management:
- Reads and has a clear understanding of the Mercy Corps Asset Management Manual, Fleet and Warehouse management policies.
- Review vehicle log sheets every month and submit to finance.
- Prepares monthly vehicle consumable reports.
- Review hard copied of vehicle on board files.
- Responsible for vehicle rentals.
- Review and update vehicle insurance.
Warehouse Management:
- Has a full understanding of MC warehouse policies and formats. Assists, as needed in training staff on these policies and forms.
- Receive goods and cross check the quantity with the good receive note.
- Maintain and ensure the stock cards are updated on daily basis.
- Maintain and update stock release on daily basis.
- Dispatch goods from the warehouse using appropriate MC procedures, Store Release forms, Waybills.
- Do proper stacking of items in the warehouse to ease the physical counting.
- Conduct monthly physical counts of the items in the warehouse.
- Ensure the warehouse is clean and free from any infestation.
Assets Management:
- Read and has a clear understanding of the Mercy Corps Asset Management Manual and all procedures
- Responsible for logging all new Mercy Corps assets in Abuja and other field offices in the asset register and ensuring the appropriate coding and tags are placed on each item. Regularly updates asset register with changes and new acquisitions
- Responsible for coordinating with the procurement and finance office in identifying all details of assets such as buying price, ledger reference, PR, PO and GRN number etc. The asset register should be accurate and complete;
- Responsible to maintain the stock of Mercy Corps assets that are not checked out and in use;
- Responsible for checking in/out Mercy Corps owned equipment to authorized staff using the standard Mercy Corps procedures and forms outlined in the Asset Management Manual;
- Responsible for the timely preparation of documentation of any movement of assets in Mercy Corps formats;
- Schedules and conducts physical count of assets on different locations, projects and sites;
- Provides a monthly physical count/check where all assets are located and their status confirmed; coordinate with the responsible logistics officer for tracking assets in other offices to ensure the locations and status of assets that have moved between offices;
- Update the electronic database monthly and provide an electronic copy to supervisor and Operations Manager; A hard copy is printed, signed and filed in the assets folder;
- Advise colleagues on guidelines of Mercy Corps asset and equipment use guidelines.
- Ensure all lost, damage, sold, stolen (or other) items are properly recorded in with an approved Disposal of Assets form. Ensure any necessary, supplement documentation is completed;
- Advise supervisor on any broken, damaged or destroyed equipment;
- Ensures that all movement of items should go through the Asset Controller, on “GRNs or an Asset Movement Form”.
- Assist the Logistics officer, Operations Manager and Operations Director on updating the master asset inventory, as requested
- Updates inventory records on all the receipts / issues of inventory items from MC warehouse.
- Assists and coordinate project staff on inventory issues. Assist in providing end of project reports on inventory and equipment lists, locations and status;
- Maintain inventories of all Mercy Corps premises (non-expendable properties) conduct regular checks (quarterly).
- Review asset movement form.
- Review asset register book.
- Conduct quarterly surprise asset check in all field offices
- Conduct quarterly Physical asset reconciliation with Finance.
Others:
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Nigeria.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in a relevant Business field is desired.
- 2-3 years of experience in Inventory Management, large scale Logistics operations, or office administration;
- Strong organizational skills; ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
- Excellent oral and written English skills. Strong computer skills on MS Excel, MS Access and MS Word programs.
- A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities.
- A clear understanding of procurement ethics and donor compliance is essential.
- Previous experience in fleet management.
- A willingness to travel throughout the project areas in the assigned Area of Responsibility
