Job Title: Driller
Location: Nigeria
Job Description
- Safely and efficiently perform drill floor tasks as directed by the Toolpusher.
- Responsible for the safe operation if drilling equipment and machinery and the drilling crew in Nigeria.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for own safety as well as that of the Drill crew
- Operates drilling equipment and coordinates the operation of machinery and equipment necessary for drilling operations
- Monitors drilling fluid status and alarms to ensure within specific criteria
- Conduct pit drills for Drill crew as required
- Conduct a flow check on every connection
- Responsible for pipe and casing tallies
- Adheres to and follows correct lock-out, tag-out procedures
- Responsible for having the correct permits prior to starting a job including Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Demonstrate and promote Safety Leadership for Drill crew
- Conducts all pre-tour, post tour and weekly safety meetings for Drill crew
- Controls the operation of well control equipment
- Assists specialized contractors during wireline, casing, and cementing operations
- Administers preventative maintenance program on all drilling equipment
- Maintain efficient and current logs and records
- Will be required to work over open water and at heights
- Responsible for housekeeping in his/her work and living area
- Other duties as assigned
Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Must meet all the training and certification requirements which will vary by unit location according to local requirements and regulations. Specific unit requirements will be found in local job specification procedures and guidelines
- Current Supervisory Well Control certification required
Minimum Requirements for this position:
- Must be a Nigerian national
- Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter
- Must be able to work an offshore rotation schedule in Nigeria
- Must have excellent conflict resolution skills and be able to diplomatically handle confrontation
- Must be willing to notify direct supervisor of any unsafe acts, safety violations or potential safety violations
- Must be capable of working in a confined marine environment and comfortable working at heights
- Physically capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other potential emergencies
Experience:
- Three years or more experience as a Driller on a drilling rig (not work over)
- Four years of experience or more in a Drilling Department
- Experience operating a top-drive strongly preferred
- Preferred experience on a 4th to 6th generation drill ship
- Prior offshore deepwater experience preferred
