Job Title: Sales Manager

  • As part of a Joint Venture between Nigerdock and ALE we are now recruiting for a Sales Manager to spearhead Sales for ALE.
  • ALE is an engineering specialist. The core activity of the group involves engineering solutions for the horizontal and vertical movement of very large individual items. ALE’s expertise lies in all aspects of heavy lifting and transportation, including specialised cranes, transporters, hydraulic equipment, and barges. The unique nature of our work means that we rely on highly skilled operators and engineers to work on our projects in a safety critical environment.
The Role
  • As a Sales Manager, your challenge will be to raise awareness of the ALE brand and services for the assigned area, and establish contacts with clients which will ultimately lead to the provision of ALE’s services. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be able to call upon ALE’s huge diverse array of engineering skills, equipment and operational logistics team to design, offer and then provide unique and innovative solutions to the most demanding heavy lift and transport challenges.
  • The industry is extremely niche, so while commercial heavy lift experience is valuable it is not a requirement. If you have confidence in your sales abilities, can open doors and engage clients with effective solutions to their heavy lift and transport problems, then we can help lift your career to new heights.
Responsibilities
  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals, budgets and profitability
  • Initiate and coordinate development of action plans to penetrate new markets
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed
  • Provide timely feedback to senior management regarding sales performance
  • Provide timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all enquiries submitted for pricing, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin
  • Maintain accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity
  • Create and conduct proposal presentations and ITT (Invitation to Tender) responses
  • Prepare tenders and presentations
  • Control expenses to meet budget guidelines
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensure that they are communicated and implemented within the team
Requirements
  • Degree in Business Administration/Sales/Marketing
  • Blend of marketing, sales and technical experience
  • Logistics, Oil and Gas, Power Generation and/or Industrial Construction experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a technical sales environment
  • Fluent English speaker
  • Collaboration, negotiation & persuasion skills
  • Project management skills
  • A Self-starter, resilient, organized and pro-active, takes the initiative
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Able to influence

Job Title: General Manager – Shipyard
Location:

Description
  • To perform the General Management function of repair, conversion and refit work on vessels including successful handover to the customer on time, budget and to the highest quality and HSE performance standards. To plan, organize, direct and control the company’s resources to ensure all activities are managed effectively to meet customer’s requirements on time. To ensure through leadership that all aspects of the works are carried out safely and in compliance to all HSEQ regulations and policies.
To lead and execute all business development and commercial activities of the shipyard and perform business management functions including and not limited to the following:
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue and ultimately business growth
  • Responsible for P&L and development of annual budget, departmental plans and KPIs
  • Negotiating ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers
  • Conduct meetings and coordinate all activities to ensure safety and quality of work on board
  • Issue and update business plans promptly
  • Carry out safety checks and develop personnel continually
  • Execute and control the works through the technical team
  • Approve the sub-contract work based on recommendations by departments
  • Conduct progress meetings and review work schedules
  • Prepare and update worklist for endorsement by Owner’s Rep
  • Ensure timely submission of client and Group Company Reports
  • Ensure endorsement of Vessel Acceptance Certificate by Owner’s Rep upon ship delivery
  • Collect Customer Feedback Forms from Owner’s Rep
  • Manage monthly business development functions and business management functions
  • Interpreting market trends, give insight into how a company can make adjustments to improve performance and adapt to industry changes
  • Streamlining lead generation processes to chase leads swiftly
  • Management of existing and potential client’s information using CRM Leads client-relationship management, tracks new markets and emerging trends, recommends new products and services, proposes and develops new strategic partnerships
  • Guides long-term objectives to meet business needs and requirements
  • Designs, manages and executes policies to deliver business strategy
  • Take the lead in periodic review of Nigerdock Ship Repairs Tariff list
  • Ensure a risk based approach is implemented in the acquisition and execution of Ship repair Projects and management of operations
  • Deliver reports monthly to Executive Committee, and ad-hoc and/or as required
Requirements
  • 10 years related experience to Managing a Shipyard business or similar
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering or Business
  • Possess relevant experience in Ship building and Ship Repairing Industry for those without formal qualification
  • Demonstrable experience in leading HSEQ performance, compliance to regulations and policies
  • Safety certificates and leadership training
  • Project management experience in marine
  • Experience with Profit and Loss Responsibility
  • Ability to apply Continuous Improvement strategies, which includes the ability to introduce needed change, create excitement for change and lead change initiatives.
  • Adaptable and open to new ideas
  • Previous work experience in a developing country (desirable)
