AS Operations West Africa Limited (ASO), is a Nigeria-registered subsidiary of Adam Smith International (ASI). ASO provides operational support to three DFID-funded projects in Nigeria, i.e. NIAF, GEMS and ENABLE. Operational services include IT and Communications; Residential and Hotel Accommodations; Administrative Support; Domestic Ground and Air Transportation; International Travel and Protocol; and, Security Services.

Job Title: Procurement Assistant
Location: Kano
Job Summary
- Based in Kano, this position is accountable to support ASO to supply products and services to a large £32million programme working across the North of Nigeria.
- The responsibilities of the position include identifying cost-effectiveness throughout the procurement process as well as identifying potential vendors for vetting and delivering goods and services in time and within budget.
- Among our clients is a leading international advisory firm that works throughout the world to help reform and improve economies and institutions
- This is a temporary contract administrative position
Responsibilities
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Keep accurate records to justify the process and any other related decisions made in this regard.
- Track and monitor expediting of shipment.
- Handle delivery and inspection of items and maintain the record of delivery notes.
- Monitor storing and handling on site, prior to use, during installation and commissioning and closure of any surplus/defective materials after the completion of the project to validate client acceptance/rejection, warranties and other related follow up matters with the supplier till completion of Project.
- Support management of the vendor qualification process and a performance feedback rating system that will drive positive results in both supplier quality, cost and on time performance.
- Manage projects in tactical and strategic purchasing tasks to improve internal business processes that reduce cycle times and improve efficiencies.
- Liaise with state teams and be present for the acceptance of deliveries.
- Ensure that all potential suppliers are provided with identical information upon which the quotations are given equal opportunity to meet the desired requirements.
- Working with team members and Procurement Manager to complete duties as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use a personal computer, email, Excel and Word;
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing (English and Hausa is required for this position);
- Strong interpersonal skills
Education and Experience:
- BSc. Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field of study;
- Minimum of 3 years experience in procurement and contracting;
- Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques and dexterity in reading the market
- Demonstrated experience in negotiations and networking
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data and writing reports that are succinct
Remuneration
Salary is based on an established, posted pay scale. The position is classified as Administrative Services Level 08 (developmental)
