Job Purpose
- To mobilize sea staff to their assigned vessels in sufficient time for crew changes, ensuring that all necessary travel arrangements and documentation are in order, and that all relevant industry, flag state, and client requirements in respect of crew training, certification, and manning are satisfied at all times.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage rotations of all crew
- Book travel, visas, vaccinations, port passes, etc for expat crew
- Track all crew in NS5
- Coordinate technical interviews of officers with the relevant managers
- Verify that valid and correct certification is in place for all crew
- Upload crew certification for all crew into NS5
- Track all payroll related data for expat crew in NS5
- Liaise with expat officers and local manning agent to ensure that crew changes are carried out on time and crew are regularly rotated on same vessels
- Monitor performance management of all crew, ensuring that company procedures are followed when promoting crew or addressing performance issues
- Handle grievance matters for all crew in liaison with HR
- Arrange necessary approvals for any new crew provided by the manning agencies before placement on board the vessels
- Arrange company inductions before new hires are assigned to the vessels
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- College level
Job Specific Skills:
- Working knowledge of STCW regulations and MLC 2006
- Team player, capable of effectively engaging with teams and crews of various cultures
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Able to multi-task and work well under pressure.

Job Purpose
- The Chartering Manager is responsible for leading the chartering activities primarily within Nigeria but may extend into other areas within West Africa.
Key Accountabilities
Chartering:
Within Nigeria your responsibilities include but are not limited to managing client relationships, sales and marketing, chartering & commercial management (e.g. market mapping, competitor profiles, client plans). Responsibilities include:
- Input and updating of CRM data
- Pricing and day to day quotation for West Africa
- Tender liaison point of contact for West Africa for the tender & contracts team
- Coordinate the deployment of all Topaz Marine assets under bareboat to TONL in Africa with the
- Commercial team, to ensure optimal utilization and day rates are achieved
- Support in developing and implementation of Contracting strategy in alignment with Strategic Priorities
- Develop and / or review all tenders
- Assisting tendering process across division to adopt optimal pricing parameters, using up to date costing information provided by the finance function
- Ensuring completeness of all bids, and advising on tendering strategy
- Detailed review of bid cost and pricing summaries
- Advising on appropriate insurance to mitigate against all risks
- Coordinate and monitor of contract execution
- Consolidating progress and value reporting for analysis by senior management team;
- Advising on variation and potential risks
- Advising on invoicing and recoveries
- Review the close-out of all contracts and auditing the overall execution of projects to contract
- Help to develop processes and procedures for the effective coordination and management of major contracts across the business;
- Assist with market development strategy for the assigned region
Marketing:
- Develop and maintain a process of continual engagement with key clients, and monitor regional Client contacts
- Promote the reputation and brand of the organization in all dealings with the marine community and clients
- Market existing and new Topaz tonnage, or tonnage from third parties, to the clients in Nigeria and Africa
- Identify opportunities for new businesses, logistics services, and tonnage in the Africa market.
Reporting:
- Maintains close internal relationships with Operations, Commercial and Finance across the business to ensure transparency in contract reporting and information access
- Monthly reporting on chartering and other commercial activities
- Support development and market analysis, review process to ensure that the senior management team are kept fully up to date with Africa OSV market developments
- Assisting with revenue forecasting and budgets
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree level Education in Business, Engineering or Maritime Studies, or equivalent Post Graduate Qualification in Marketing / Business Development discipline.
Minimum Experience:
- Marine background and off-shore marine experience is a preference but not essential.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a comparable commercial role
- Maritime Legislation and regulatory regimes ideally
Job Specific Skills:
- OSV, Shipping, or other relevant B2B Commercial Management skills
- Knowledge of Chartering & Charter parties is preferred
- Good negotiation skills is necessary
- Good English speaking & writing skills, knowledge of French is an advantage
- OSV markets knowledge is an advantage

Job Title Technical Superintendent
Location: Nigeria

Job Purpose
- To support and manage, in the most cost effective and efficient way, the repairs, maintenance and general upkeep of the assigned fleet, as per class and flag state requirement
- Responsible for providing maintenance support in a port or offshore setting and will oversee completing breakdown and/or defects and managing a group of third party service suppliers.
Key Accountabilities
QHSSE:
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to
- Demonstrate Safety Leadership to all Operations and Vessels Personnel
- Actively engage with all employees on HSE related issues.
- Promote open dialogue between all employees and departments on means to drive and improve safety performance.
- Provide a link between Fleet Superintendent and ship based management concerning safety and pollution prevention
- Participate in and provide input to HSE related meetings and inspections.
- Promote the Company’s Control of Work processes and safe working practices.
- Actively partake in safety meetings, to encourage constructive discussion and to drive engagement.
- Assist in the investigation of incidents, as directed
Technical:
- Be the first point of contact for on board staff, including the identification of possible engineering flaws and strive to fix them or delegate tasks in a timely manner
- Complete (un)planned maintenance tasks on a regular basis and follow specific maritime protocols
- Perform technical inspections of vessels during port call for repair & maintenance standards and procedures
- Coordinate repair and maintenance functions for assigned fleet to minimize loss of revenue and cost of repairs
- Review repair request and compare request with previous work accomplished on ship concerned and similar vessels to determine that expenditures are economically sound
- Attend to vessels during port calls, ensuring the proper allocation of available resources to complete technical work lists/defect report list
- Ensure the timely correction of all technical defects reported by all vessels and providing ship’s crew with shore assistance as required
- Keep track of the technical administration received from the vessels as directed
- Ensure that the planned maintenance system is relevant and up to date on all assigned vessels, as per Company requirements.
- Attend all classification/client surveys including rectification of any recommendations and/or deficiencies as a result of the above surveys within the given time frame
- Act as first point of contact for port call maintenance & repair.
- Engage in hands on repairs and improvement projects
- Assist with the preparation of repair and dry dock specs along with Technical Supt, Master and Chief Engineer of the vessel.
- Liaise with contractors during repairs and dry docking with close communication to Shared Service Technical Dept.
- Run frequent tests inspections of the condition of machinery and equipment on the vessels to ensure maintenance and repair meet company requirements
- Inspect machinery, equipment or spaces outlined in work request, draw up job specifications and obtain bids from contractors or shipyards to perform repairs
- Maintain contact with contractors to ensure completion of work at minimum cost
- Conduct thorough technical interviews of engineering officer candidates, selecting suitable crew for assigned vessels
- Closely monitor the performance of the engineering team on board, completing regular performance appraisals for the Chief Engineers
- Highlight any high potential candidates or underperforming crew to the Fleet Superintendent so that competence/performance issues can be addressed in accordance with Company procedures
Reporting:
- Interface with ship’s crew daily to discuss shortfalls and insufficiencies related to the Ships Planned
- Maintenance System and validate new work orders
- Monitor all engineering work in progress for planned and
- unplanned maintenance and repairs for all allocated vessels
- Cooperate directly with the Port Captain and Operations personnel regarding the day today maintenance and repairs of the vessels
- Maintain records of engineering costs for each vessel, such as repairs, supplies, and personnel
- Actively involved in the Dry Dock preparation with close cooperation with Shared Service Technical Department.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications:
- Chief Engineer certification in compliance with STCW IΙΙ/2 or
- Mechanical/Electro Mechanical Engineering Degree
Minimum Experience:
- Seagoing work experience as Chief Engineer/Marine Engineer with minimum class 2 certification with AHTS, Offshore Supply/Offshore tug/ Dive Support vessels or 2
- 3 years’ experience as Technical Superintendant or similar.
- DP vessel experience will be highly advantageous
Job Specific Skills:
- Microsoft Office (word, Excel and Projects), CAD and shipboard monitoring.
