Role
- To support implementation of FSL component of the project. More specifically, assist in methodological improvements of market data collection and analysis.
- S/he is principally responsible for collecting and interpreting market data, formulating reports and making recommendations based upon the findings
Main Responsibilities
Programme Support:
- Coordinate and clearly communicate market team activities, provide support to project vendors and volunteers.
- Provide feedback on projects’ market activities to Senior Marketing Officer
- Support logistics team in identification of new vendors
- Sensitization of local vendors in the project intervention zone, and maintain a collaborative relationship between them and Save the Children.
- Supervise the data collection enumerators and ensure that the collected data is accurate, reliable, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures
- Reviewed and modify distribution plan with partners and implementation plans with project assistants and field monitors
- Support rapid assessments, baseline studies, and seasonal assessments in collaboration with food security and livelihood colleagues.
- With support from the Accountability Lead ensure accountability is enforced in all project activities as well as ensuring that feedback from children and their families is considered in project design/implementation.
Capacity Building:
- Identify learning and training opportunities for partner staff and communicate this to the Senior Marketing Officer
Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:
- Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and support Interagency Coordination forums, advocating for the specific needs of children. This may involve supporting coordination working groups within the IDP camps and host communities or target project sites.
- Contribute to communications and media work as required through correction of data and information and sharing with the project heads
General:

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- University degree in relevant field (in Social Research Methods, Development Studies, Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics)
- Minimum 2 years post NYSC of relevant work experience in food security, research studies and report writing
- Fluent communication in English, Hausa and Kanuri
- Ability to write clear and well-argued assessment and project reports
- Demonstrated primary and secondary data analysis and analytical skills
- Familiarity with various field survey methods and techniques (PRA, sample surveys, etc.)
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation
- Experience of training and capacity building staff
- Some experience of representation and ability to represent SC effectively in external forums.

Job Title: Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator

Role Purpose
The purpose of this position is two-fold:
- To oversee quality improvements in Save the Children’s mental health and psychosocial support interventions for children affected by the conflict in NE Nigeria; and
- To provide clinical supervision to Save the Children and partners’ child protection staff, as they themselves provide case management and psychosocial support to children.
Key Areas of Accountability
Clinical Supervision:
- Provide technical and practical guidance to Save the Children and partners’ Child Protection in Emergencies staff on how to support and monitor the work of the case workers, facilitators and animators in a structured way, ensuring the quality of the intervention.
- To provide structured feedback and support to caseworkers, faciltators and animators in their role as first line providers of MHPSS to children affected by the conflict. Support CPiE staff to learn from experiences and to gain expertise in MHPSS and build on their professional skills in this area.
- Assist and advise on setting-up peer to peer sessions or reflective practices for Case Management teams, and group facilitators and animators.
- Allow CPiE staff to express and process emotions, challenges, worries and frustrations arising from their work. Impart skills and knowledge on self care, which empower staff to deal with the stresses inherent in their daily work and help them explore ways of enhancing their personal care and development.
Technical support to MHPSS programming activities to ensure quality and accessible MHPSS services by trained, confident and informed staff:
- Provide technical support, capacity building and guidance on MHPSS activities (direct and partner implementation), including but not limited to:
- Ensuring assistance is provided to children affected by the conflict in a dignified, respectful, equitable and inclusive manner that supports their resilience
- Ensuring all MHPSS activities are culturally sensitive and appropriate
- Consultations with beneficiaries and communities on their needs and capacities and build assistance around their suggestions
- Tools and criteria for the identification of boys and girls who require MHPSS
- Assisting children in acute distress and alleviating their stress, for instance ensuring that all staff / partners are trained on PFA and feel confident to use it
- The mainstreaming of inter-agency guidelines (e.g. IASC MHPSS guidelines) and standards (e.g. CPMS) across the different sectors of programme activities delivered by SC and its partners
- The use of resilience techniques for the body and mind with children and adolescents
- The use of structured and manualised MHPSS techniques
- The participation of parents and caregivers in MHPSS activities
- The quality of the MPHSS activities and monitoring to support this.
- Initiate structured MHPSS activities for groups of boys and girls of different age groups, with particular attention to survivors of SGBV, unaccompanied children and other children who present with signs of poor mental health and distress
- Identify MHPSS service providers and agree referral pathways for children with severe mental disorders
- Develop MHPSS guidelines to be used by staff, partners and volunteers
Proposed Outputs:
- Regular group supervision sessions for CPiE staff to discuss complex cases and feedback sessions in all Local Government Areas where Save the Children’s Child Protection work is implemented..
- Individual counselling sessions with staff (including part staff) where required to discuss complex cases.
- Be available on call/skype if any urgent matters arise that a staff would like to share regarding their casework or his/her personal well being
- Debrief to Child Protection Specialist on overall status of the teams
- Bi -monthly progress reports to the Child Protection Specialist to highlight needs and gaps.
- Development of peer/reflective practises with teams
- Review of current MHPSS practices, reflecting on a cross-sectoral approach, with clear recommendations and a related action plan, including capacity development (clearly budgeted, mapped out in terms of timelines and reflecting resources required). Relevant guidance documents or training materials.
Structured MHPSS activities for boys and girls, organised in age appropriate groups with a clear methodology or curriculum to promote mental well-being. Such activities must align with donor commitments in already-funded projects.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- B.Sc/M.Sc/Ph.D in Clinical Psychology
- Minimum 4 years post NYSC experience in clinical supervision and debriefing
- Experience in Psychological First Aid, and other psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities
- Experience working in Child Protection programs, including those with MHPSS components
- Experience of initiating MHPSS activities
- Experience of developing training modules on MHPSS and facilitating training
- Experience capacity building teams/individuals
- Fluent in English
- Working knowledge of Hausa and /or Kanuri

Job Title: Child Protection and Gender Based Violence Response Officer
Location: Borno

Role Purpose
- The CP and GBV Response Officer is responsible for ensuring that quality psychosocial support services for GBV survivors are provided to internally displaced persons under the age of 18.
- Build the staff capacity to provide direct meaningful support to GBV survivors, mentor, supervise and monitor team activities and ensure effective coordination and networking system establishment to the rest of child protection team..
- The Gender Based Violence Response Officer will be expected to support on child protection sectoral assessment, project planning and coordination with other actors of GBV clusters.
- In most circumstances, the post holder will be expected to mentor and/or build capacity of implementing partners on the field.
Key Areas of Accountability
- Support the CPiE Coordinator to conduct child protection and GBV assessments using SC assessment processes and tools and the Inter-agency Child Protection Assessment Resource Toolkit. Adapt the Assessment Tool as necessary to GBV survivors.
- Coordinate with other SC thematic areas, the national/district Child Protection Working Group and/or other external sector agencies of GBV, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific, disaggregated data analysis of survivors’ needs.
- With support from the lead Child Protection Coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, develop monthly and quarterly plans and costed plans, contributing towards an overall thematic programme plan. From the strategy initiate programming in the following areas as appropriate:
- Support to the psychosocial (physical, social, emotional) well-being of children with GBV victims and their families.
- Build the staff capacity to provide direct and appropriate support services to GBV survivors
- Teak lead in Prevention and response to sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) and gender-based violence (GBV) in project communities
- Mentor, supervise and monitor of gender based violence implementation and draft monitoring action plan for quality control.
- Prevention and response to all forms of exploitation including harmful child labour and child trafficking
- Support the integration of GBV cases into other CP case managements process, CPIMS,CFS and PSS
- Oversee and coordinate the development and maintenance of data collection and analysis mechanisms and share timely quality information the relevant sector management.
- Support the integration of child protection sector in to other SC emergencies core sectors on the field
- With support from the Child Protection Coordinator, supervise project implementation to ensure timely delivery of project activities (for example, monitoring against individual performance management work plans).
- With support from the lead Child Protection Coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, prepare and review timely monthly reports submitted by partners and SCI Staff.
- With support from the lead Child Protection Coordinator, identify project supplies specific to the programme and GBV Survivors’ needs and coordinate with the logistics team to put in place a sensible phased procurement plan.
- Work with the M & E plan to ensure links to reporting requirements where possible, refer the M&E framework to build an evidence-base for child protection programming interventions including GBV survivors.
- With support from the CRM/Accountability Officer put in place accountability activities for your project, ensuring that feedback from children and their families is considered in project design.
- Ensure that the minimum standards of humanitarian relief are maintained in accordance with the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Settings and the Sphere standard
- Ensure survivors of gender based violence are timely identified and provided counselling and other appropriate response services.
- Ensure relevant referral forms are in place and implemented accordingly.
- Coordinate monthly meetings including, parents forum and child protection committee
- Provide essential psychosocial first aid support to children and adults when needed.
- Ensure partner staff are supervised regularly to ensure activities are carried out in line with minimum standard guidelines.
- Consistently maintain referral pathway of project locations
Capacity Building:
- Provide capacity to implementing partners that have less CPiE experience
Representation & Advocacy & Organisational Learning:
- Ensure that Save the Children’s work is coordinated with efforts of other agencies and Government, and support Interagency Coordination forums including the State Child Protection Sub Working Group, advocating for the specific needs of children. This may involve supporting the coordination of working groups and sub-working groups.
- With support from the Lead Child Protection Coordinator and/or other senior programme staff, assist in advocacy activities that target decision-makers in-country.
- In collaboration with the Humanitarian Technical Unit and Child Protection team, feed in learning, experiences and evidence to relevant global advocacy objectives.
- Contribute to communications and media work as required.
General:
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Other ad hoc tasks as requested by Line Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- University degree or equivalent in Social Work, Social Science, Development Studies or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- Minimum 2 years post NYSC work experience in GBV and child Protection work, supervision, community mobilisation and distributions and solid understanding of the actual Nigeria Emergency context.
- Proven ability to supervise a CP project with holistic approach and integrated to child protection right
- Fluent in English
- Working knowledge of Hausa and/or Kanuri
- Computer literate

- Female with high level of personal integrity, commitment and professional responsibility with GBV exigencies.
