We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: GBV Outreach Worker

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department / Sector: Protection and project management.
Slot: 9 Openings
Reporting to: Gender Based Violence Advisor
Start date: 1st September, 2018.

Job Purpose

  • The purpose of the job is to mainly to carryout community outreach, sensitization and awareness raising interventions to reach a wider coverage of the beneficiaries and communities on GBV related issues and engage in prevention related activities including economic empowerment activities through the Village Savings and Loan association.
  • The position holder will also be actively engaged in providing information to women and girls on available services and referrals and supports to women and girls.

Main Duties

  • Assist in the establishment of the women and girls safe spaces in the identified camp/location.
  • Create and maintain a positive and fruitful relationship with women, girls and the general community.
  • Carry out community sensitisation, awareness raising and education activities in the camps, and other locations in the communities based
  • Facilitate supports to women and girls who visit and may want to visit the safe spaces to access services and other supports.
  • Engage men and boys on GBV prevention related activities
  • Provide referrals to vulnerable women, girls, and especially GBV survivors to access services available in the community and at the safe spaces.
  • Closely work with the caseworkers, GBV officer in the formation of the Adolescent girls group with consultation and engagement with their parents.
  • Carry out weekly adolescent girls sessions as agreed
  • Carryout the economic empowerment activities as agreed and especially the VSLA for women and girls.
  • Plan and implement agreed project activities with support from supervisor
  • Conduct outreach activities to encourage women and girls to seek health care and other services.
  • Ensure that a psychosocial approach/perspective is employed in all work activities and decisions and that these reflect the priorities and best interests of women and girls been assisted.
  • Establish regular coordination and liaison with community leaders, NGOs, service providers and local organizations especially at the reception centers/transit centers etc.
  • Ensure that all program activities create a neutral and supportive environment for women and girls
  • Ensure strict adherence to NCA/ACT code of conduct
  • Assist in the formation and facilitation of women only VSLA groups in based location.

Requirements

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality
  • University Degree or its equivalent in Community/Rural Development/Education, Social Sciences, or equivalent is a requirement.
  • Previous social work and or community engagement work experience or experience working with women and girls and communities affected by conflict required.
  • Good training, communication and facilitation skills necessary
  • Ability to speak good English. Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri an advantage  plus any other language in the area specific to the job
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel programs preferred
  • Willing to stay and work remote locations, field.
  • Flexible and can adapt to prevailing environment.
  • Computer literate especially micro soft work, excel database and power point. Knowledge of other software an advantage.

Job Title: Gender Based Violence Officer

Location: Monguno, Ngala, Pulka/other project location.
Department / Sector: GBV/Protection.

Reporting to: Gender Based Violence Advisor
Start date: 1st September

Job Purpose

  • The GBV Officer will be responsible for the timely and quality delivery of field level activities with technical support from the GBV Advisor.
  • She/he will manage the team there and ensure the smooth running of program in close coordination with other GBV/Protection actors.
  • She/he will ensure that survivor centered approach is adhered to and GBV survivors and other vulnerable women and girls receive prompt and comprehensive services.

Main Duties

  • Oversee case management including follow up on referrals and action plans, and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the minimum package
  • Work closely with the GBV Advisor to Initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities, including referral pathway and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain, monitor and measure GBV project implementation and contribute to effective information management on GBV survivors, adhering to the national guidance on case management of survivors and the SOPs
  • Closely work with case workers, outreach workers etc to ensure that best practices are respected and international standards are met in responding and preventing GBV
  • Participate in capacity building initiatives for staff, partners and other stakeholders to ensure quality and comprehensive delivery of project activities
  • Develop plans and activities in line with project.
  • Facilitate the setting up and functional safe spaces for women and girls and supervise all safe space activities and community outreaches.
  • Conduct monitoring of program activities and ensure standards are followed.
  • Facilitate the formation of Adolescent girls groups through the engagement of care givers/parents and ensuring their inputs into the design of the AG is ensured.
  • Oversee the case management of the program and supervise case workers to implement effectively
  • Support staff to identify and link vulnerable girls to child protection actors and other service providers based on need to access support and care
  • Overall management of field based activities.
  • Conduct monitoring to partner activities in their various locations in close coordination with the M&E officer as may requested by supervisor.
  • Submit quality reports as scheduled including but not limited to weekly, monthly etc.
  • Carryout any other duties as outlined by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualification

  • Proven experience in similar function desirable.
  • Experience in GBVIMS and case management
  • Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing required.
  • Two years and above experience in similar position or related
  • Flexible and willing to work in rural communities especially field based
  • Attended trainings on GBV and is aware of protection issues.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Fluency in English, additional fluency in Hausa and Kanuri an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation, including relevant staff working for the NCA.

Job Title: HR/Admin Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno and some travels to the south and field locations.
Comment: 6 months with possibility of extension.
Department / division / team: HR
Reporting to: Finance and Administration Advisor

Main Duties
General Office Administration:

  • Manage all paper-based correspondence coming in and out of the office
  • Design systems to ensure effective use of office resources in particular office vehicles, generator, furniture, IT equipment, software and monitor accordingly.
  • Manage key relationships with service providers for insurance, pension, internet, telephone, electricity, water, security, IT management.
  • Manage the casual workers, security guards, cleaners, and any other support staff
  • Maintain an up-to-date registry of fixed assets closely with procurement/supply chain officer.
  • Ensure that the office remains well supplied with consumables, drinking water, office stationary, bathroom items etc.
  • Carry out all administration functions as assigned by supervisor.

Human Resources:

  • Ensure all staff leave records are monitored and kept up-to-date, including records for annual leave, sick leave, and time off at work.
  • With the finance team, be responsible for operation of payroll for all national staff and ensure compliance with the Nigerian tax legislation and Social Security and pension related.
  • Full understanding of Nigerian policies and laws
  • Ensure that recruitment procedures are understood and observed.
  • Ensure all national staff personal information concerning employees is kept according to Nigerian data protection law.
  • Ensure that all expat staff have the necessary visas, permissions, and work permits to reside and work in Nigeria and that these remain valid and up-to-date. this include renewal
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of their contractual obligations with respect to NCA policies and staff/ACT code of conduct.
  • Facilitate the on boarding of national staff
  • Ensure guest houses/hotels are booked for staff in approved NCA listed suppliers
  • Participate in the recruitment process of national staff as required by senior management.

Legal and Statutory Compliance:

  • Follow-up with NCA legal representative on all regulations and compliance as designated.
  • Stay up to date with all regulations and national laws in Nigeria.
  • Closely work with Head of mission on property leases and other contracts and agreement ensuring it complies with national laws.

Health and Safety:

  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety issues and – in conjunction with security focal point and adhere to NCA guidelines.
  • When requested by the country director, negotiate and manage local insurance policies for staff medical insurance, vehicle insurance.
  • Ensure that all staff remain aware of current health and safety issues and procedures.

Information Technology:

  • Working with relevant service-providers and/or local staff, ensure that all IT equipment in the office is well maintained with up-to-date software.

Procurement:

  • Ensure that all office equipment and stationaries are always available and updated and in line with NCA procurement policy
  • Manage and procure through advances where necessary minor office supplies as required.

Capacity Building:

  • Willing to participate in capacity building trainings, while also providing similar to other staff
  • Ensure staff have right knowledge on NCA as an organisation and stay focused to its mission.
  • Supervising and providing line and team management for all office casual staff, volunteers, security guards, etc
  • Any other responsibilities can be assigned to you as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Qualification

  • Proven experience in HR and administrative functions
  • At least B.Sc. in Business Administration, Human Resources, Administration, Public Admin and other relevant qualifications
  • Two years’ minimum continued experience in similar position
  • Good knowledge of relevant Nigerian legislation governing International NGOs
  • Fluency in English, additional fluency in other local languages an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff within the Trust and key stakeholders externally.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation, including relevant staff working for the NCA.
  • Previous experience managing a team and payroll system.
  • GOOD skills with experience of operating computer management systems.  Competent to advanced level in Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness and ability to take the initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
  • Willingness to travel and stay in remote areas as required.
