We’re currently for a Commercial Business Project Manager for a 6 months contract. The project is a Private-Public venture to improve employability.

Job Title: Commercial Business Project Manager

The successful candidate will work directly with stakeholders to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and led, and managed the budget of multi-milion dollar projects

We are looking for a certified Project Manager who has worked on large projects within diverse commercial sectors cutting across Construction, IT, FMCG, Education, Banking, Finance etc. You would also be a creative and dedicated individual who will fit within their collaborative culture demonstrating the essence and understanding of teamwork.

The job may require some overtime hours to meet with the business and stakeholder deadlines. However, if you enjoy working with other professionals who believe in creating innovative solutions to problems, this is the role for you.

The Project Manager will be accountable for delivering outcomes, so you would have high levels of responsibility to ensure that both you and your team are on track. As the lead on this project, you should be able to demonstrate current and previous experiences of:
Initiating – checking feasibility and working out budgets, teams and resources;

Planning

Preparing and maintaining project, stage and exception plans as required
Identifying and obtaining support and advice required for the management, planning and control of the project
Setting goals, defining roles and producing schedules of tasks
Set objectives in line with both the client and stakeholder needs, which include scope, content, timings and budget;
Identify and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time
Preparing and maintaining project, stage and exception plans as require
Executing

Managing the project, the various departments and the key private-public stakeholders
Co-ordinate the work of your project team and delegate tasks where appropriate
Monitoring and controlling – tracking the project’s progress
Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans
Applying change control and configuration management processes

Monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating corrective action where necessary
Liaison with appointed project assurance representatives to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
Adopting and applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards
Liaising with various team members and departments to ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated
Monitor the work to make sure it is on time and within budget
Implement any changes throughout the process
Report regularly to management and to stakeholders
Closing

Evaluating successes and challenges to enhance learning for your next project.
Conducting a project evaluation review to assess how well the project was managed
Reporting through agreed lines on project progress through highlight reports and end-stage assessments
Preparing any follow-on action recommendations
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Degree in Business Administration or similar discipline, MBA is an added advantage
A Project Management Certification such as PRINCE2, PMP, PMI or its equivalent
Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in CORE project management
Background in business skills, planning, management, budgeting and analysis
Experience working on multi-million-dollar projects and managing budgets
Working with/Managing large and diverse teams from multi-cultural backgrounds – demonstrating the ability to be able to direct, manage and motivate the project team
Impeccable interpersonal skills – demonstrating the ability to liaise and interact with senior executives, government officials and board members
Develop and maintain an agreed project plan and detailed stage plans
Understand and apply business case and risk management processes
Tailor expert knowledge to meet specific circumstances in Project business frames
Plan and manage deployment of physical and financial resources to meet project milestones
Build and sustain effective communications with other roles involved in the project
The ability to implement quality management principles and processes
Demonstrate consulting level presentation creation experience; demonstrated ability to make effective, high-level presentations to senior client personnel
Proven experience successfully managing large scale, complex projects
Previous experience as a subject matter expert with an NGO an added advantage
