FG Holds Meeting With ASUU Towards Ending The Strike, 26th Nov.

The Federal Government is currently in a meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) towards finding a way to end the ongoing ASUU strike. The plan to hold the meeting was earlier confirmed by the President of  ASUU, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, in an interview with newsmen.

The meeting began 5:00 pm Monday evening. Recall that the union met with the FG last week but the meeting ended with no resolution. We would wait to see if the meeting today will yield any positive outcome.

Some of the issues and demands by the lecturers include better funding of Nigerian universities, implementation of previous agreements, earned academic allowances, salary shortfalls and pension matters

According to the President of the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, the union’s position is aimed at repositioning the nation’s universities for global relevance.
