Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Objective 1
- Support the operationalization of M&E systems on AAH projects to ensure compliance with donor and AAH M&E standards.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Develop and update/pre-test quality assurance checklist tools for M&E team in collaboration with M&E DPM and project staff.
- Provide support to the review and development of M&E systems for new projects, in collaboration with M&E DPM and projects teams at the field level.
- Support teams to pilot data collection tools and integrate the findings into the final tools.
- Facilitate project’s use of mobile data collection by leading on the process and troubleshooting.
- Train and manage the M&E Field Assistants to carry out regular M&E functions, ensuring that all HR procedures and policies are respected.
- Conduct appraisals of M&E Field Assistants as required by AAH performance management guidelines.
Objective 2
- Ensure proper and timely implementation of AAH M&E tools, activities, and reporting.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and quality data collection, inclusive of needs assessments, household registration, baseline/endline surveys, PDMs, KAP surveys, and others.
- Ensure implementation of M&E plan through routine monitoring of activities at the field level.
- Support program team to ensure quantitative APRs are updated based on activities accomplished for the month.
- Lead on the implementation of qualitative and participatory tools, including focus group discussions and key informant interviews to collect data from various groups in the community.
- Ensure timely and quality data entry, analysis, and interpretation by working closely with the program, tech, and M&E teams.
- Undertake regular site visits and monitor the design and execution of surveys and other assessments, case studies, and accountability mechanisms to ensure that proper sampling and methodology are used.
- Perform data cleaning on all data collected and upload into the server.
- Perform data analysis of M&E data for different projects as needed through Excel or other statistical software.
- Provide training to program teams on program activity monitoring and reporting.
Objective 3
- Document and promote good practice from planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify good practices based on M&E findings and encourage utilization of data.
- Support M&E Deputy Manager to identify lessons learned and best practices, and produce case studies and human interest stories through collation and analysis of M&E information.
Objective 4
- Represent AAH externally in relevant forums and working groups at State level.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Represent AAH externally in issues related to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and reporting (consortia, alliances and clusters) as needed.
Objective 5
- Performance Management.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Communicate Action Against Hunger performance standards and expectations to team members which includes ; 10 minutes monthly conversation, 3 months/end of probation performance appraisal and annual/ end of contract appraisal.
- Establish performance objectives, provide feedback, identify strengths and areas for professional improvement.
- Contribute to the professional development and improvement of team members by providing support.

Qualifications
- Degree in Economics, International Development, Statistics, Public Health, Demography or related subject, with previous experience working in humanitarian projects.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in a similar position.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Demonstrated knowledge of M&E concepts and international humanitarian quality standards.
- Experience with mobile data collection (preferred).
- Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets, Sphere standard, SPSS, SPHINX, or other statistical packages.
- Experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing.
- Fluency in English and Hausa (both written and spoken skills).
- Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent team, budget and project management and representation competencies.
- Commitment to and understanding of AAH aims, values and principles.
- Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
Preferred:
- Strong interpersonal and community norms understanding.
- Experience in community development programming, preferably in nutrition, food security, livelihoods or WASH.

Job Title: Grants and Reporting Manager

About the Program
Action Against Hunger has been operational in Nigeria since 2010 responding to both chronic and acute needs through a multi-sector strategy where nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people’s resilience.
The main objectives of the country program are: To continue building on Action Against Hunger’s reputation for nutritional expertise to deliver integrated nutrition, WASH and FSL assistance in the high caseload Northern Nigeria States and build evidence from out pilot projects to influence policy makers to find long lasting solutions to under nutrition and hunger; To respond to the dire humanitarian situation created by the devastating conflict on-going in the North East while applying, where possible, attempts to find durable solutions in line with the New ways of Working and Humanitarian Development Nexus.
With a central office in Abuja and 3 main field office across the North, Action Against Hunger runs intervention in 3 States of Northern Nigeria including two States affected by the on-going conflict. We have a country team of around 550 staff (45 international) and a budget for 2018 projected at 50 M US$. Our main donors and partners in Nigeria include USAID/OFDA & FFP, DFID, ECHO, EU EDF, AFD, UNICEF, SIDA, SDC and GAC.
You’ll Contribute to Ending World Hunger By:
- leading the development of donor reports in line with the Action Against Hunger Nigeria Mission in Maiduguri.
Key Activities
To lead the development of donor reports in line with the Action Against Hunger Nigeria Mission and donor requirements:
- Responsible for the overall management of delegated donor reporting processes, especially narrative reporting. This will include ensuring narrative reports are timely, comprehensive, coherent and in line with donor requirements.
- Ensure in particular that reporting guidelines, formats, philosophy, deadlines for each project and donor is communicated clearly and standardized across the country for new and on-going projects.
- Maintain a reporting tracker, and ensure regular and timely sharing of formats and requirements with the relevant departments.
- Ensure that donor timelines and deadlines are monitored, managed, and met for project reporting;
- Development formats for, prepare, review, compile, provide feedback on, and finalize draft donor reports, editing for format, grammar, and content.
- Develop knowledge of Action Against Hunger internal policies, reporting and proposal guidelines for donor organizations funding Nigeria programs/projects;
To support the Grants & Compliance Co in the development of high quality funding proposals in line with the Action Against Hunger Nigeria Mission, international strategies as well as donor requirements:
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Action Against Hunger internal policies and proposal guidelines for donor organizations funding Nigeria programs/projects.
- Support the coordination between technical and operational teams to ensure that proposals and concept notes are developed with required input from all relevant departments and to ensure that the documents meet quality standards, and are prepared in compliance with donor requirements.
- Conduct secondary research in order to inform new opportunities and designs.
- Develop Action Against Hunger Nigeria concept notes and proposals, abiding by the guidelines set out by the donor and by Nigeria internal policies. This will involve developing proposal documents including narrative proposals, budget narrative, narrative, monitoring and evaluation documents, and other documents as necessary.
- Coordinate with staff from other Action Against Hunger Nigeria departments (technical sectors, finance, and field staff) to compile relevant information and documents to support proposal development.
- Coordinate any donor feedback and ensure timely submission of requested feedback and re-submission.
- Ensure that donor timelines and deadlines are monitored, managed, and met for proposal development.
- Maintain a proposal tracker, and ensure regular and timely sharing of formats and requirements with the relevant departments.
- Travel to the field sites as needed to support program reporting/grants management.
To support internal coordination and communication within the Action Against Hunger Nigeria mission:
- Support the Project managers in grant opening, review, and closing meetings, including attendance at meetings when possible.
- Minute regularly internal coordination meetings (weekly coordination meeting, monthly, coordination meetings, kick off meeting etc.).
- Assist with research on funding opportunities, and potential donors, partners, and their strategies.
- Facilitate the dissemination of specific information and documents, as and when required.
To assist communications and visibility activities of Action Against Hunger Nigeria:
- Develop communications and visibility documents, templates, presentations, videos and other materials in line with Action Against Hunger Nigeria mission strategy as requested.
- Edit case stories, success stories and photographs of beneficiaries for external sharing.
- Assist the Grants Coordinator in providing regular informal updates on projects, by sending pictures and articles on projects progress and/or specific events for Donors/Action Against Hunger Newsletter and Annual Report.
To support filing and archiving of grant documents:
- Ensure comprehensive grant files are maintained up to date and are available for use in both hard and soft copy (proposals, contracts, amendments, reports etc.).

- You have at least 3 years of experience working in relief or development programs.
