The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, was established on June 9, 2014. The establishment is m accordance with Federal Polytechnics Act, Decree No 33 of 1q79 and Decree No 5 of 1993, as amended. Currently, the Polytechnic operates from a temporary Campus along Ikot Ekpene -Abak dual carnage way before Independence High School, Ukana, Essien Udim. Meanwhile the permanent/main campus is witnessing some building constructions at various stages of completion.

Job Title: Director of Works and Services
Location:
 Akwa Ibom
Job Description

  • The Director of Works and Services is the Chief Supervisory Officer of the Works and Services Department of the Polytechnic.

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Works is directly responsible to the Rector in the overall control of the Works and Services Department
  • Planning and controlling of the Technical activities of the department.
  • Advising the Rector on the acquisition, operation and maintenance of all Polytechnic assets.
  • Keeping an inventory of all vehicles and responsible for the maintenance/servicing and other schedule as may be assigned by the Rector.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidate should be a fully registered Engineer with at least eighteen (18) years post-qualification cognate experience or a registered Engineer with Masters degree plus fifteen (15) years post-qualification cognate experience or a registered Engineer with Doctorate degree plus fourteen (14) years post-qualification experience.

 

 

Job Title: Registrar

Job Description

  • The Registrar is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic. He/she is the chief Administrative officer of the Polytechnic and responsible to the Rector for the day-today administration of the Polytechnic.
  • He/she shall be the Secretary to the Polytechnic Governing Council, the Academic Board and other Statutory Committees of the Polytechnic.

Qualifications and Experience
The candidate for the post is expected to possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A good honours degree with at least second class Lower Division in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution of higher learning with at least eighteen (18) years post qualification cognate experience; or a holder of Masters degree plus at least 15 years cognate experience or a Doctorate degree plus at least 12 years experience in institution of higher learning preferable in a Polytechnic.
  • Membership of recognized relevant professional body such as Nigerian Institute of Management, institute of Corporate Administration etc.
  • The Candidate must show evidence of good leadership and must have been a Deputy Registrar for at least five (5) years in institution of higher learning.
  • Must not be more than fifty-nine (59) years of age at the time of applying for the position.
  • Must be proficient in ICT packages.
  • Must enjoy excellent physical and mental health with evidence from Government Hospital.

Other Qualities:

  • He/she must be a person of proven integrity.
  • Must be intellectually and professionally sound.
  • Must be versed in the Public Service Rules and Financial Regulations.
  • Must be loyal and able to assist the Chief Executive, the Polytechnic Governing Council and the Academic Board in formulating sound academic and administrative policies.

Terms of Appointment and Conditions of Service

  • The appointment will be for a term of five (5) years in the first instance and may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance for another term of five (5) years and no more.

 

 

Job Title: Bursar

Job Description

  • The Bursar is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic. He/she is the Chief Financial officer of the institution and responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day control of financial affairs of the Polytechnic.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The candidate must possess a good honours degree in Accountancy or equivalent qualifications from recognized institution of higher learning with at least eighteen (18) Years post qualification cognate experience. Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage.
  • He/she must have occupied the position of a Chief Accountant Deputy Bursar for at least five (5) years in institution of higher learning.
  • Possession of professional qualification of ANAN, ICAN, ACCA or ICMA is mandatory.
  • He/she must not be more than fifty-nine (59) years at the time of applying for the post.
  • He/she must be honest, intellectually/professionally sound and reliable.

Job Title: Polytechnic Librarian

Job Description

  • The Polytechnic Librarian is a Principal Officer and the head of the Polytechnic Library He! she is responsible to the Rector for the smooth running of the Polytechnic Library.

Qualifications and Experience

  • The candidate must possess a good honours degree not lower than Second Class Lower and a Masters degree in Library Science from recognized Universities with at least eighteen (18) years cognate experience or Ph. D with at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience.
  • Evidence of membership of professional library body is a must e.g. Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
  • There must be evidence of at least 12 Journal publications, 21 Seminar/Conference Papers.
  • He/she must have been a Chief Librarian in the Polytechnic system for at least five (5) years and not more than fifty-nine (59) years at the time of applying for the position.
  • He/she must provide sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publications in reputable pear. reviewed outlets both within and outside the Country.
  • He/she must be proficient in ICT packages.
