The Role Purpose

  • The core purpose of Brand Manager Candy for West Africa is to support the execution of category activation marketing strategy/plan within the cluster/ marketing.
  • The Category Brand Manager works closely with the Market Sales teams to deliver plans through superior consumer and customer activation and with regional equity and marketing teams to execute the growth agenda for the category.
  • The role plays an important part in driving the growth ambition of the portfolio by delivering world class marketing plans and activation within the region.

Key Accountabilities 
In line with the job purpose, key accountabilities will entail the following:

Brand Portfolio Development:

  • Continue to evolve the brand’s strategy which determines how and where we want to play through a robust strategy development process
  • Develop strategic alternatives and recommendations based on facts and thorough evaluation
  • Drive MPP (marketing performance planning) process in the way we develop the strategy (Insights, Innovation & Brand Positioning)
  • Collaborate with sales management teams to gather trade information and identify opportunities for both upper and lower income markets
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to develop appropriate and affordable offerings for both the upper and lower LSM markets
  • Work closely with the regional category team and with other emerging markets to share knowledge and gain insights
  • Ensure that adequate focus is placed on the brand agenda, by engaging key stakeholders and increasing the visibility of the strategy and ambition  of the Brand Portfolio

Management of the Brand Portfolio:

  • Lead implementation of the brand marketing strategy and ensure its integrity
  • Drive MPP process in the way we develop the strategy (Insights, Innovation & Brand Positioning)
  • Identify new opportunities using MPP and joining up with the regional category team
  • Embed MPP process and tools within the way we work
  • Ensure that the integrity of the brands is maintained – Uncompromising in brand disciplines and ensure alignment across the organisation
  • Allocate and manage the A&C budget
  • Engage with key stakeholders to ensure cross-functional alignment with the brand agenda, objectives and targets
  • Collaboration with appropriate Channel Managers to optimize impact of the brands
  • Manage & challenge advertising & media agencies to optimize communications impact
  • Monitor and drive brand performance targets
  • Identify and recommend relevant marketing support requirements
  • Develop & implement innovative awareness and activation campaigns

Qualifications

Person Specification 
In order to succeed in this role, it is expected that the ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary degree or diploma
  • Classical marketing background (6-8 years experience)
  • FMCG preferably with exposure to the full consumer spectrum in terms of top end and the bottom of the pyramid (deep consumer understanding and experience)
  • Clear understanding of the trade channels and exposure to working with key accounts and sales management teams
  • Exposure to developing strategy and creating new opportunities for growth
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the core principles in terms marketing, project management and sales in planning process
  • Effective brand planning and forecasting ability
  • Excellent execution and project management skills
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to build strategic and collaborative working relationships across the business
  • Financial acumen and commercial acumen
  • Ability to frame and present new ideas to gain buy in and resource
  • Strong level of computer competency, i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, , Word, Excel, SAP Front End, BW, etc

Job Description

Job Responsibilities
Recruitment:

  • Responsible for defining recruitment plans and needs in the assigned department for Recruitment Manager.
  • Develop job profiles and create recruitment inquiries for Recruitment Manager
  • In cooperation with Recruitment Manager ensure, that qualified candidates are recruited to satisfy the department’s current objectives and future needs.

Organization Development:

  • Identify and clarify needs for improvement within the existing organization and participate and/or coordinate organizational restructuring programs together with line management
  • Provide support to management while preparing and implementing organization change
  • Responsible for maintaining required personnel data & reporting on organisation structure related to the assigned client department

Advancement Planning:

  • Maintain AP process for the assigned client department.
  • Involve line management in identification, development & retaining a pool of talents for their functions

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Participate in headcount planning for the assigned client department in co-operation with Department Director during budgeting process.
  • Make proposals for C&B Manager during the merit process, organization redesigns, promotions, new job creations, etc., to ensure quality evaluation of jobs and organization design effectiveness, as well as alignment of compensation to other HR processes.

Training & Development:

  • Support identification of development needs, organization of trainings in alignment with MOD Activities.
  • Counselling on HR related matters
  • Provide advice and counselling to client managers and employees on a variety of HR issues including: analysis of organization structure / reviews, performance management, salary administration, policy interpretation, management and organization development / training needs, advancement planning.

Qualifications
Requirements

  • A minimum of first Degree, HND in Social Sciences, Humanities & Applied Sciences Associate
  • Membership of any recognized HR professional body e.g CIPM, CIPD, SHRM. Other Professional Certification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR Generalist role in a Multinational FMCG/manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of IL6S, TPM, 6 Sigma is required
  • Expertise in Employee Relations Management
  • Conversant with HR Analytics tools, resources & outcomesHands-on experience in HR Operations Management
