Position Summary

  • An exciting new vacancy exist in the Agbara Factory for an Operations Performance Engineer/Trainee.
  • As an Operations Performance Engineer/Trainee, you will support the Operations Performance Manager in carrying out activities aimed at achieving optimum factory operations, strategic capacity simulations and evaluations aligned with business needs, and deliver on key annual performance metrics.
  • This is a great role which will deliver amazing insights into factory operations and will allow exposure to wider audiences more than many other roles in the factory. It will give you exposure to operations in major functions such Finance & Control, Supply Chain, and Production and their contribution to the bottom line.
  • It will also enable you to be involved in some key problem solving and loss reduction projects as we drive the business forward to achieve its commitments.

Main purpose of the Position

  • Provides professional support related with the operational performance and efficient utilization of the manufacturing assets, considering total delivered cost, quality and service.
  • Also includes the implementation and support of best practice and business initiatives, ensuring the effective implementation in the factory/business/markets.

Key Outputs / Deliverables

  • Setting of and establishment/ Development of standards (Line, Labour, Energy and Material) and KPIs in the Factor
  • Conduct line studies to improve productivity of lines
  • Analysis of factory performance reports and initiation of releveant projects
  • Support relevant functions in the factory to achieve the agreed objectives (safety, environment, quality, cost and service). Proactively drive focussed improvement.
  • Development of best practice and business initiatives, ensuring the effective implementation.

A day in the life of…

  • A typical day starts with you carrying out data verification & health checks for data accuracy while triggering corrective actions where necessary. This is to ensure data integrity across all platforms, which provide proper information on the previous day’s operations across the factory. Keep in mind “What cannot be measured cannot be improved”.
  • Upon completion of health checks & with a continuous excellence mindset, you will now commence the analysis of captured data to identify opportunities for improvement & savings. This is followed by GEMBA visit to curiously investigate and find root cause of these opportunities. This will involve interaction with shop floor colleagues and other relevant stakeholders across the value chain relevant to the resolution of identified opportunities. After this, you can now develop action plans based on outcomes of your engagements and exchanges with stakeholders
  • To effectively maximize identified opportunities, you may be required to carry out line studies to establish relevant (performance) measures according to relevant Guidelines & Instructions (GIs).
  • In the course of carrying out line studies, you will be capturing data that will be useful in providing support to the Finance & Control Team in establishing/reviewing the Annual Cost Estimates (ACE) forecasts. Your established findings will also guide you in reviewing/maintaining relevant master recipes and production versions aligned with forecasts to support production
  • Your day may not be complete without carrying out capacity simulations to guide production plans and guide decisions on capacity investments.
  • Since continuous improvement is expected to be your way of life, you will be working with several teams on improving agreed focused areas aligned with business needs. You may be required to work in multiple teams within the day. Your versatility and ability to lead or work in a team will be very useful here.
  • Your day does not pass without a review session with your manager to assess each tasks and your deliverables.
  • While carrying out your daily tasks you will be required to maintain Food Safety awareness & ensure its strict compliance

What Will Make You Successful?
We’re looking for credible, passionate and engaging engineer, with/without experience in the FMCG sector

  • First degree in Industrial & Production Engineering
  • A “Can Do” mentality
  • Highly numerate and have natural ability to problem solve and find solutions.
  • Highly analytical with experience of evaluating and interrogating numbers and ability to challenge and question at all levels in a professional manner.
  • The ability and experience of presenting and delivering key message to larger groups of people cross-functionally
  • Aptness to learn
