We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Senior Legal Officer
Location: Lagos
Reports To: Chief Legal Officer
Job Purpose
- To meet the company’s objectives, by executing all legal activities as required by the company.
- Organisational Relationships: All business units and subsidiaries of the group
Key Responsibilities
- Review and draft contractual agreements to ensure that clauses which protect the company’s interests are incorporated therein and such contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and assist in the preparation of business proposals; ensuring the legal framework of said proposals is suitable for the company’s goals.
- Interpret contracts and legal documentation to user departments to aid their relations with clients and suppliers.
- Undertake legal research; prepare reports and legal opinions as required.
- Liaise with external solicitors and monitor legal proceedings in court.
- Conduct in-house investigations, witness selection and compile documentary evidence to assist external solicitors in their defence/prosecution of cases.
- Investigate legal claims/complaints against the company and prepare appropriate responses
- Conduct due diligence checks and searches as required by the company.
- Monitor all existing and emerging laws and regulations relevant to the company’s business
- Provide legal support to business units of the company in negotiations with customers and vendors and ensure conformance with internal contracting requirements and risk mitigation requirements.
- Any other duties assigned by the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Management.
Key Skills and Competencies
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Legal
- Minimum of 7 years post call experience
- Real Estate experience is a must
- LLM will be an added advantage
- Excellent follow through, ability to pay attention to details.
- High level of professionalism and multitasking.
- Ability to take initiative
- Self motivated and committed to the delivery of excellent legal services
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Excellent people management and strong listening skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and processes

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good knowledge of legal requirements and processes
- Minimum of 5 years experience and must have been called to the Bar
- Real Estate experience is a must
- LLM will be an added advantage

- High level of professionalism and multitasking.
- Ability to take initiative
Key Responsibilities

- Liaise with government departments and agencies and regulatory authorities in respect of the company’s activities and transactions.
- Review and assist in the preparation of business proposals; ensuring the legal framework of said proposals is suitable for the company’s goals.
- Interpret contracts and legal documentation to user departments to aid their relations with clients and suppliers.
- Ensure group wide compliance with legal procedures, processes and statutory requirements as it concerns legal aspects of the company’s business
- Monitor all existing and emerging laws and regulations relevant to the company’s business
- Provide legal support to business units of the company in negotiations with customers and vendors and ensure conformance with internal contracting requirements and risk mitigation requirements.
- Monitor all legal processes, procedures regarding the company at various legal institutions.
- Any other duties assigned by the Chief Legal Officer and Executive Management.
