Job Title: Senior Programme Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • The Senior Program Officer has no less than five years of on-the-job experience working on grants supported by international organisations such as McArthur Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, etc
  • S/he serves as an intermediate professional position, providing tactical support to the programme division.
  • Specific duties will include development, technical, administrative and financial management support and oversight.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary interface with grant financiers and local staff to implement projects
  • Achieve project requirements within budget, established timeframe, standards of quality, and donor satisfaction.
  • Prepare budgets, review and approve field expense reports, wire requests, field wire transfer requests, vendor and consultant payments, etc.
  • Responsible for oversight, critical review, and reporting of project financials in partnership with finance team.
  • Represent programme management at offsite venues for the purpose of business development and information dissemination as directed.
  • Contribute to and inform programme design, knowledge of tools towards implementation of projects, knowledge management and thought leadership, and collection of resources.
  • Work with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to design and determine indicators, ensure that team has the tools to monitor progress made towards indicators, periodically check in with team on data collection and progress toward meeting objectives, and share experience with regional teams.

Job Description

  • The Project Accountant position is accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring that project billings are issued to customers and payments collected.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Create project accounts in the accounting system
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
  • Authorize access to project accounts
  • Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
  • Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
  • Review and approve time sheets for work related to a project

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, etc, detailed knowledge of project contracts and accounting.
