We are recruiting to fill the positions below:

Job Title: Healthcare Assistant – Theatre

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • Reporting to the Matron, the Theatre Assistant is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment for the patient and surgical team before, during and after surgery.
  • The incumbent is expected to prepare the operating room by washing and sterilizing all surgical instruments and equipment using the approved disinfectants by Cedarcrest Hospitals.
  • The incumbent is also responsible for preparing patients for surgery as well as transporting patients between the ward and operating theatre.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the positive identification of any patient by verbal confirmation asking the patient their full name and date of birth on collecting the patient from the reception area.
  • Set up the operating tables and theatres prior to procedures.
  • Assist the theatre teams in the operating theatres as required and directed to do so.
  • Moving patients from the ward and transporting them to the operating theatre.
  • Ensuring that surgical instruments and equipment are properly prepared prior to the operation.
  • Counting and documenting surgical instruments used in theatre during an operation.
  • Cleaning the operating theatre before, between and after operations, adhering to hygiene and infection control protocols.
  • Maintain a sterile environment for the patient and surgical team before, during and after surgery.
  • Washing and sterilizing all surgical instruments and equipment before surgery.
  • Prepares the patient for surgery by washing, shaving and disinfecting incision sites.
  • Provides assistance to the surgeon during surgery.
  • Moves the patient to the recovery room after surgery.
  • Assists the surgical team to put on scrubs, gloves, masks, and gowns.
  • Ensure that all theatre trolleys used for moving patients are kept clean, fully equipped with O2 bottles and canvasses as required.
  • Work with the Theatre team during emergency situations providing additional support.
  • Clean and tidy theatre areas after surgery.
  • Responsible for clinical waste disposal.

Qualifications

  • WASC Certificate or equivalent
  • Certificate in Senior Community Health Extension Works {SCHEW} is preferred
  • Diploma in Orthopaedic Technology preferred
  • 2+ years of proven experience as a theatre assistant or in a similar field.
  • Patience and empathy.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent housekeeping skills and adherence to hygiene and infection control protocols.
  • Good level of physical fitness.

Job Title: Nurse Officer II

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • The Nurse Officer II reports to the Deputy ward Manager, is charged with providing care for hospital patients as well as assists physicians in providing treatment in various medical settings. This includes but is not limited to recording and reporting symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
  • The Nurse Officer II will also be tasked with maintaining accurate patient reports and medical histories, administering medication and treatments to patients while observing reactions and side effects. They also advise patients and their families on various health and conditions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate, complete health care records and reports.
  • Administering medications to patients and monitoring them for side effects and reactions.
  • Prescribing assistive medical devices and related treatments.
  • Recording patient vital signs and medical information.
  • Ordering medical diagnostic and clinical tests.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and recording symptoms or changes in patient conditions.
  • Administering intravenous medications.
  • Modifying patient health treatment plans as indicated by patient conditions and responses.
  • Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice
  • Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
  • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts
  • Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders
  • Escalate patient observations and problems via approved channels
  • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.)
  • Provide instant medical care in emergencies
  • Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
  • Support patient in their activities of daily living {ADL}

Job Requirements

  • RM / RN
  • Bachelor’s of Nursing Science is added advantage
  • Valid Licence – Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
  • NYSC Certificate or Exemption Letter
  • 1-2years as RN in hospital environment
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians and hospital staff.
  • Basic computer skills.

Job Title: Physiotherapist

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • Reporting to the Hospital Manager, the Physiotherapist is responsible for performing the physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse and complex conditions
  • The incumbernt will be responsible for carrying out assessments to evaluate patients’ range of movement and ability to perform normal routine tasks on their own
  • The incumbent will be expected to plan and develop bespoke treatment plans, which help patients to regain their independence and mobility by using purposeful activities.

Responsibilities

  • Works with patients with a variety of conditions, including but not limited to neurological, neuromusculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory, sometimes for weeks or months.
  • Diagnose, assess and treat the patient’s physical problem/condition.
  • To evaluate a patients’ progress, reassess and alter treatment programs if required, developing reflective practice.
  • Responsible for encouraging exercise and movement of patients.
  • Develop and review treatment programs that encourage exercise and movement through the use of a range of techniques.
  • Advice patients on leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Responsible for involving patients and their carers in the treatment, review, and rehabilitation of patients.

Job Title: Healthcare Assistant II

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • Reporting to the Deputy Ward Manager, the Healthcare Assistant II will be responsible for aiding nurses and physicians with patient care and administrative duties.
  • This role will maintain exam room equipment, space, and sanitize areas for patients. They will aide in patient care by recording and taking patient information, record documentation, and monitor patient vital signs.
  • Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse this role will record patient’s condition by taking temperatures, pulse, and weight; while assisting in other clinical duties.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling patient appointments, cancellations, and updating records
  • Verifying patient identity
  • Monitoring and taking patient vital signs and heart rate as needed
  • Entering patient information into database
  • Maintaining required records and documentation
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality
  • Recording patients’ conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, and weight
  • Assisting with clinical duties
  • Preparing correspondence, documentation
  • Listening to the particular needs of patients and acting on these needs as appropriate
  • Taking the temperature of the patient
  • Taking the pulse rate of the patient
  • Taking the respiration rate of the patient

Job Title: Pharmacist

Location: Lagos

The Role

  • Reporting to the head of unit Pharmacy, as a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for monitoring the supply of all medicines used in the hospital and are in charge of purchasing, manufacturing, dispensing and quality testing their medication stock along with help from pharmacy assistants and pharmacy technicians.
  • You will be working with other medical personnel to provide treatments and advice to patients, recording patient histories relating to medicinal use, and ensuring the safe and secure storage of all medicines and hospital supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labelling pharmaceuticals.
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians’ work flow; verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections.
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counselling patients on drug therapies.
  • Develops hospital staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration by monitoring nursing unit inspections; maintaining records for controlled substances; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; supervising the work results of support personnel; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.
  • Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Any other duty assigned by your unit head.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Pharmacy (B.pharm).
  • Valid Licence.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience.
