Twinning for Health Support Initiative Nigeria (THIS-N) is a non-profit organisation. We are currently engaging in the Enugu State4GATES OVC Project to improve the health and well-being of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their families in Enugu North Local Government Area in line with Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) 95: 95: 95 Agenda.

We are recruiting to fill the position below for the Enugu State4GATES OVC Project:

Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

Location: Enugu
Report To: Program Manager

Position Summary

  • The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will capture all data collection, analysis, and learning activities to help ensure accountability and efficiency from start to finish for the Project.
  • H / She will provide technical field support to Implementing team across THIS-N sites in the State.
  • The M & E Officer will work closely with Program team to assess field conditions, support capacity building initiatives, and facilitate the collection of quality data under the supervision of the Program Manager and Project Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and capture data across program interventions and analyse data collected across the communities.
  • Compilation of SI activity, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Enter validated data into Database
  • Maintain beneficiaries data base (NOMIS) at the LGA level
  • Maintain hard and electronic copy file of the community volunteers Monthly Summary Forms in the LGA.
  • Documentation of best practices and Success stories
  • Ensure all source documents of services provided and activities conducted are well filed by the documentation officer.
  • Ensure CVs maintain confidentiality in all the VCs case files
  • Provide mentoring and supportive supervision to all the SI and Data Entry officers across the CVs
  • Coordinate and monitor SI activities across CVs in the targeted LGA.
  • Ensure that CVs adhere to household and child case management plans they developed.
  • Provide guidance on the implementation of project’s SI plan.
  • Perform all reporting obligations & performance indicators from database to donors.
  • Development/updating performance indicator definitions.
  • Generate case studies and success stories from implementation of SI systems
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Demography, Sociology, Anthropology, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience working in Strategic Information
  • Experience in working with NGOs
  • Thorough understanding of program management, donor reporting requirements and managing donor relations.
  • Demonstrated research and evaluation skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; and ability to influence and facilitate advocacy agendas at State
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software
  • Well-organized, with ability to track multiple activities and deadlines
  • Experience in providing administrative leadership and support to work teams

 

Job Title: Health Linkages & Nutrition Officer

Location: Enugu
Reports To: Program Manager

Position Summary

  • Health linkages / Nutrition Officer will work with the THSI to manage beneficiaries and conducts support supervisory visit to Community Improvement teams, coaches the Community Volunteers to observe and monitor, provide guidance and quality feedback on the use of data and indicators.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of technical activities to improve the well-being and care for vulnerable children, and their households
  • Responsible for ensuring that service provisions are of quality, based on identified needs
  • Supervise and follow up of case plans for VC and their households
  • Facilitate the coordination of strong referral network system and linkages
  • Map available resources to serve the needs of the vulnerable children and their households
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess implementation of activities.
  • Support the coaching of CVss, to bring about improvement in service rendered to vulnerable children
  • Organize and carry out Food Demonstration activity for Community Volunteers and Households’
  • Assess the Nutritional Level of enrolled Households
  • Write monthly programmatic / technical reports, document success stories and best practices
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Health Education, Social Work, or Community Development studied or any Social Science
  • 3-4 years of experience in community development work preferably in the field of OVC related
  • Knowledge of quality improvement approaches is strongly desired
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and experience working with other implementing partners
  • Good analytical skills
  • Familiarity with USG regulations is desired

 

Job Title: Household Economic Strengthening (HES) Officer

Location: Enugu, Enugu
Report To: Program Manager

Position Summary

  • The Household Economic Strengthening (HES) Officer will be responsible for interventions to reduce the economic vulnerability of families and empower them to provide the essential needs of the children in Enugu State

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the livelihoods needs assessments within project’s target groups and areas of operation.
  • Provide leadership in developing innovative livelihood strengthening programmes and interventions that are consistent with project’s child protection mandate.
  • Managing and ensuring the effective implementation of livelihood interventions across the organisation’s programs through proper targeted and result oriented approaches.
  • Building the capacity of CV’s in managing and supporting livelihood interventions
  • Be in charge of developing, disseminating and orienting CVs staff on livelihood programme management and monitoring tools
  • Coordinate with Project Team to provide technical support in OVC Household Economic Strengthening programming.
  • Support in the development of the project HES strategy and monitor implementation.
  • Coordinate with staff to assure full community participation and visit each project activities to monitor or provide technical assistance
  • Actively promote best practices and a shared, vision of quality assurance of Strategic Information through an improved standard of OVC Household Economic Strengthening programming.
  • Maintain and avail appropriate technical resources.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, International Development, or related field of study.
  • Experience working with Adolescent and Young people on capacity and vocational skill acquisition.
  • Excellent communication, team building and training skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in and outside the organization
  • Strong English language oral and written communication skills required
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet) required.

 

Job Title: OVC Program Officer

Location: Enugu

Basic Functions

  • S/he will work with the OVC Program Advisor to support the implement of high quality care and support activities for orphans and vulnerable children.
  • S/he will support and develop detailed annual work-plan for OVC Care and support and participate in evaluations and assessments.
  • S/he will support collaborative solutions and family centred approaches.
  • S/he is expected to strategically support and coordinate stakeholders’ response to OVC

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Education, Social Sciences or Social Works
  • At least five (5) years hand-on relevant experience
  • Knowledge and practical skills in OVC care and support
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and understanding of paediatric home-based care, gender, stigma and discrimination.
  • Ability to communicate in Igbo will be an added advantage.

 

Job Title: Care & Support Officer (OVC / HIV)

Location: Enugu

Background

  • The purpose of this position is to provide technical guidance and ensure the implementation of technical program activities for community based HIV Care and Support in the 4GATES OVC Program at THSI.
  • S/he will collaborate closely with the THSI OVC team to roll out and implement an integrated and holistic community based response to HIV/AIDS towards scaling up access to HIV prevention and care services for vulnerable children and their caregivers.

General Function

  • The Care and Support Officer (OVC/HIV) will be responsible for working closely with the THSI OVC team to achieve the strategic objectives of the program , focusing primarily on HIV prevention, Care & Support but also supporting cross-cutting themes and integration efforts across the project with other areas of OVC programming including Household Economic Strengthening and Nutrition.
  • S/he will assist in the strengthening the capacity of community volunteers and PMT in community based HIV response in line with operational strategies for achieving project aims, results and performance expectations through adherence to high standards of programmatic and management quality.

Major Responsibilities

  • S/he will provide technical and programmatic support primarily in the areas of HIV prevention, Community based HIV Care & Support for project beneficiaries affected by AIDS.
  • S/he will be responsible for implementing strategies designed to strengthen the linkages between the community based care activities and health facilities providing HIV care and treatment towards ensuring a continuum of care.
  • S/he will also support in the area of HIV prevention awareness creation, community mobilization for HIV counselling and testing, HIV/TB care and support, PMTCT and Early Infant Diagnosis (EID), improving referral and counter-referral systems between communities and facilities.
  • S/he will support the implementation of evidence-based interventions aimed at addressing HIV risk behaviors, HIV transmission, and gender-based violence with a focus on adolescent girls and young female caregivers.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and ensure program activities improve access to HIV prevention and care services amongst project beneficiaries and their caregivers in project communities.
  • Work with other project staff to ensure adherence to technical standards, best practices and 4GATES guidelines for all HIV Prevention Care & Support activities of the project.
  • Support strategies towards ensuring that project activities are built on strong behavior change principles, and build the capacity of Community Volunteers and relevant project staff in effective implementation and monitoring.
  • Work closely with assigned facilities unit and LACA in identifying and capitalizing on leverage points for improved linkages and referral coordination at the community level and for integration of HIV Prevention Care & Support elements into other OVC areas project activities and vice versa.
  • Attend all relevant central trainings and HIV CoP meetings organized by 4GATES and submit training reports to Program Manager.
  • Step-down all central trainings to community volunteers, PMT and other relevant stakeholders at the LGA and community levels.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all program activities implemented including ensuring beneficiaries provided with relevant HIV services are entered into NOMIS.
  • Support the formation and regular meeting of beneficiary support groups in project communities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • HND / B.Sc in a relevant health degree a plus a minimum of 2 years technical experience with community-level HIV prevention, Care & Support? Programs
  • Experience in supporting HIV Testing and Counselling programs in health facilities, mobile units and community outreaches
  • Knowledge of Government of Nigeria HIV Care and Treatment guidelines (Paediatric & Adult)and experience working with HIV programs
  • Familiarity with OVC programming and principles.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills required.

 

Job Title: Data Entry Clerk

Location: Enugu
Slot: 2 Openings

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compile and sort documents for data entry
  • Enter sorted data into NOMIS
  • Maintain NOMIS Database for the project.
  • Support the documentation of all source documents of services provided and program activities conducted
  • Support the M&E officers in the following areas: routine data review, verification and validation, conducting periodic DQA and compilation of Quarterly M&E report and monitoring of program activities.
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic files of all trainings and meeting attendance/minutes.
  • Work closely with the M&E officers to make the beneficiaries’ file cabinets safe and confidential.
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic files of the Monthly Summary Forms.
  • Store every document in its designated location.

Qualification and Experience

  • A university degree or HND in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics or Pure Sciences or any related field of study
  • Research and Evaluation skills
  • Demonstrable computer skills especially with use of MS Excel especially for data analysis

Job Title: OVC Education and Protection Officer

Location:  Enugu, Enugu State
Report To: Program Manager

Job Purpose

  • The purpose of this position is to provide technical guidance and ensure the implementation of Education and Protection activities for community based OVCs support in the 4GATES project component of THIS’s Treatment, Prevention and Support for OVC Project.
  • The OVC Education and Protection Officer is under the supervision of the Program Manager, in collaboration with other thematic areas officers organize a range of duties related to education and child protection.

Responsibilities

  • The Education and Protection Officer will provide technical leadership in education and protection OVC services.
  • The OVC Education and Protection Officer will have some combination of technical expertise and experience in OVC service areas that include; child protection, psychosocial support, education, child rights and advocacy.
  • The OVC Education and Protection Officer will guide the project technically in terms of: OVC service provision; capacity development and mentoring of community volunteers and care givers on child protection and education.
  • To develop detailed annual work-plan for OVC Care and support in child protection and education and participates in project evaluations and assessments.
  • To identify and support needy OVC with primary and secondary school fees.
  • To plan for and oversee debriefing training for adolescent youths.
  • To plan for and undertake follow-up trainings for community volunteers.
  • To facilitate the formation and training of Community OVC coalitions and task forces
  • To represent PCI in OVC forums at local and national levels.
  • To prepare and submit timely monthly, reports and share with partners as appropriate.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Minimum of first Degree or HND in Social Sciences or a degree in public health, Social Sciences or other relevant field
  • 2-3 years post NYSC experience.
  • Have an understanding of the child right sector, OVC frameworks in Nigeria and OVC programming guidelines including National Service Standards is essential.
