Job Title: Reintegration Specialist

Location: Borno

Job Description

  • The Candidate will be responsible for implementing the organisation’s Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) programme.
  • To succeed in this role, the successful candidate will need to have a proven ability to build relationships with key institutional stakeholders at the government, security and community levels.
  • The candidate will coordinate all programme activities which will include leading a team of specialists in providing reintegration services and designing implementation and evaluation tools to guide the delivery of the project.
  • The job will involve the reinsertion, rehabilitation and reintegration of high risk individuals.

The Reintegration Specialist’s main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining records of progress and providing written reports and statistics to funding sources and other regulatory agencies.
  • Conducting group counseling for program participants
  • Monitoring programs/projects to assess progress, identify bottlenecks and potential problems and take timely decisions to resolve issues and/or refer to relevant officials for timely resolution
  • Carrying out community engagements to ensure buy-in from the stakeholders
  • Coordinating programme initiatives on returns and reintegration with other stakeholders, and develop inter-agency synergies and complementarities, supporting a common vision and implementation approach;
  • Documenting each participant’s progress and maintaining all files and information in a confidential manner.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in International Development, Humanitarian Affairs, Conflict Resolution, International Relations or other relevant Social Science disciplines.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the management of   reintegration, rehabilitation  or community development;
  • Experience working with displaced populations; particularly the socio-economic reintegration of returnees or other groups;
  • Experience working in conflict and post conflict settings.
  • Proven capacity of and experience in team building;
  • Project Management experience required
  • Must possess excellent administrative, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with security services or the military necessary
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Fluency in spoken Hausa
  • Kanuri language ability would be a great advantage.
