Job Title: Project Director

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Summary

  • The Project Director is responsible for meeting the project’s technical objectives, managing financial resources, managing program staff, maintaining good working relationships with host government officials and local partners, managing donor reporting and ensuring high-quality delivery of services.
  • The Project Director reports to the Administrator of Grants, Contracts and Programs at AUN.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in organizational development, public health, public administration, business administration, international development, or other relevant field preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in program management at senior management level is required 3-5 years in Nigeria
  • Experience in gender issues including SGBV, livelihoods, required.
  • Aptitude/experience in supervising staff and the ability to mentor subordinates;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the development sector in Nigeria preferred
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Hausa required.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the Northern region of Nigeria will be an added advantage.

 

Job Title: Counsellor

Location: Bama and Kukawa LGA, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment

Position Background

  • The Counsellor will help the beneficiaries to manage and overcome depressions, manage harmful emotions and behaviours.
  • S/he will listen to, empathise with, encourage and help to empower PoCs and other project beneficiaries, depending on the nature of problems encountered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The counselor will engage beneficiaries in a series of formal sessions at a regular time and in a private place and talk about the client’s issues and feelings.
  • Will assist in counselling the beneficiaries to cope with traumatic experience and events.
  • Provide counselling face to face, over the telephone and/or online.
  • Will work with individual beneficiaries, families or groups.
  • Keeping confidential records of beneficiary cases.
  • Build a relationship of trust and respect with clients
  • Listening to clients’s concerns, emphathising with them and helping them to see things more clearly or in a different way.

Position Requirements

  • BSc. in relevant field (sociology, psychology, counselling, human rights etc.)
  • 1 year of work experience as a counsellor with an INGO is preffered, or at least 2 years of working experience in a related field (Required).
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and writing) and Fluent in Local language(s).
  • High reporting skills (excellent writing skills)
  • Strong ability to multi-tasks and work independently, attention to details.

 

Job Title: Admin and Logistics Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide logistics and administrative support to program staff during workshops.
  • Provide Admin supports for day-to-day office management.
  • Coordinate all operations-related activities of the project.
  • Provides oversight of Vehicle logs, vehicle maintenance.
  • Identify Vehicle needs and reviews driver timesheet
  • Coordinates transportation and delivery of procurement and inventory.
  • Ensure periodic project vehicle maintenance.
  • Coordinate vehicle needs of project staff for official travels.
  • Direct, supervise Logistics Assistants (drivers) and arrange their trip plans.
  • Any other duty as may be required from time to time by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • BA / B.Sc in Logistics or any related Social sciences discipline, with requisite logistics experience in donor-funded project.
  • Must be organized and logical, willing to adapt quickly to changing policies and procedures.
  • Able to efficiently solve transport problems relating to staff vehicle needs.
  • Able to operate Microsoft Office and be familiar with any other software.
  • Must have 4+ year of specific experience related to logistics coordination

 

Job Title: Legal Protection Specialist

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Background

  • The Legal Protection Specialist is responsible for supervising effective protection responses for legal needs of beneficiaries, including civil documentation issues and legal counselling.
  • S/he will work with beneficiary communities including persons with specific needs, IDPs, returnees, and persons with specialized protection concerns.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide legal assistance to ensure beneficiaries have access to legal counselling and assistance in addressing civil documentation issues
  • Prepare legal case files and referrals, and provide counselling services for beneficiaries in need of legal support, particularly in regards to civil documentation.
  • Ensure information dissemination to beneficiaries regarding legal services and legal issues.
  • Support the development of information dissemination materials regarding legal issues and legal support services in area of operation
  • Update case files, referral tracking mechanisms, and any other administrative tracking systems developed; ensure beneficiaries’ data is protected.
  • Prepare all legal case files, documents, legal counselling intake forms, and referrals for weekly review.
  • Provide daily verbal and written feedback to supervisor on progress, lesson learnt, achievements and gaps, issues and problems.
  • Writing regular narrative and quantitative reports for the donor on activities conducted
  • Maintain and promote a positive image of Human Appeal and its activities.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • Relevant University degree in Law
  • Minimum of 2 year of experience working as a Lawyer, with in-depth knowledge of civil documentation cases
  • Relevant professional experience, preferably in emergency and/or development context.
  • Familiarity with international protection and human rights legal standards
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Good verbal & oral communication skills in English Language.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and respect for people from different cultures and backgrounds and especially those with special needs and other vulnerability.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure, manage time and prioritise work to deadlines.
  • Well-developed organisational skills.
  • Punctuality and respect for rules and procedures.

Job Title: Finance and Admin Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing of petty cash transaction;
  • Disbursing of funds to all participants during workshops;
  • Handling of cash payments to all vendors/Staff
  • Preparation of petty cash update and reports;
  • Weekly cash reconciliation and replenishment;
  • Scanning and filing financial documents into database and maintaining hard copies filling;
  • Review of payment documents in relation to payment checklist;
  • Keep petty cash funds in safe and provide periodic petty cash report.
  • Raising of Payment Vouchers/Petty Cash Vouchers
  • Day to day bank liaison and general finance and Admin duties
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • B.Sc in Accounting / Banking and Finance with 3 years of project experience
  • Grant management experience for UNHCR projects
  • Experience in the use of financial accounting software
  • Experience in project finance, audit and project banking

Job Title: Community Engagement Assistant

Location: Kukawa, Borno

Duration: 1 (One) Year

Summary of Position

  • The Community Engagement Assistant will support the Project Director.
  • S/he will have a deep understanding and in-depth knowledge of local customs and culture and using this to ensure that project is well understood and supported by the various communities within the respective states.

Position Requirements

  • BA in Sociology, Psychology or similar
  • 3 years community experience in the area of education, livelihoods etc.
  • Good local knowledge of the state/LGA
  • Good network within the state system/LGA
  • Experience in the social welfare, health and or traditional sector in the target state/LGA
  • Ability to speak the local language of the target LGA preferred

 

Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Summary

  • The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will lead all project M&E reporting.
  • S/he will be experienced in project M&E at state and local government level.
  • S/he will be a mentor to project staff to support M&E functions of the project.
  • S/he should be a highly skilled and experienced data manager and data analyst.
  • S/he should be able to track and report on all project targets and indicators as described in the project M&E plan and log frame. The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer reports to the Project Director.

Requirements

  • BA / Master’s degree or equivalent experience in statistics, Mathematics, Physics
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project M&E Nigeria
  • Proven experience and skills in data management and analysis
  • Experience in developing project M&E plans and log frames
  • Aptitude/experience in supervising staff and the ability to mentor subordinates;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistical packages such as Excel, SPSS etc
  • Fluency in English and working knowledge of Kanuri/Hausa required.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the Northern region of Nigeria will be an added advantage.

Job Title: Training Coordinator

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Primary Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee the implementation of the project training/capacity building, in line with the priorities identified by the project and partner institutions.
  • Ensure the inclusion and consistency of capacity development plans in the overall project work plan and deliverables.
  • Identify and organize collaborative partnership with trainers/consultant or capacity development experts, including professionals from UN and non UN agency programs, to meet the demand and objectives of the project.
  • Facilitate the network of capacity-building experts on training and mentoring, in consultation with the Project Director.
  • Ensure coherence and synergies of the project’s intervention with the overall strategy of AUN/ in terms of capacity building and high performance.
  • Initiate, lead and follow relevant partnerships with relevant Ministry and training bodies in order to support and pursue sustainable trainings for the targeted departments/units and beneficiaries.
  • Ensure the sharing of experiences and dissemination of good practice in capacity development.
  • Design and develop training modules to support and respond to project needs.
  • Coordinate/align training modules to direct beneficiaries of the project “learning by doing”;
  • Organize, implement and monitor other capacity utilization programs especially coaching and mentoring.

Position Requirements

  • BA / B.Sc/ in Pure and or Social Sciences and years’ experience in project management,
  • 3 years of experience in managing office and people management.
  • Great communication and report writing skills.
  • Have experience in the development of training materials and delivering trainings.
  • High level of computer literacy (primarily in Microsoft Office packages).
  • Fluent in local languages and English.

 

Job Title: LGA Lead and Livelihoods Support Officer

Location: Bama and Kukawa, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Summary

  • The LGA lead is the administrative and technical lead for the project in the respective LGA.
  • As head of office, all staff in the specific state report to this position holder.
  • S/he will ensure adherence to financial and administrative processes and support technical staff to carry out their core functions.
  • S/he is the representative of the Product Director in each LGA and will ensure that all staff adhere to project standards. In addition, the LGA lead drives the livelihoods component of the project while ensuring the protection of all target beneficiaries

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure beneficiaries are screened, selected and verified through use of developed targeting criteria in operational areas.
  • Provide livelihood guidance, on an individual or group basis, to increase beneficiaries’ awareness of different business options based on market assessment and beneficiary interests.
  • Provide information to beneficiaries about livelihood and business development opportunities.
  • Organize small business training and business planning activities with beneficiaries
  • Provide information to beneficiaries on skills training, market opportunities, and small enterprise creation.
  • Assist beneficiaries in the establishment of home gardens/poultry production and continued support throughout the project timeframe.
  • Facilitate the implementation of Cash Transfer programmes and funds for Work
  • Support in the training of PoCs and other events related to the project.
  • Establish linkages to adult learning institutions and refer beneficiaries to selected courses.
  • Provide administrative support if required.
  • Submit weekly reports and contribute to the compilation of the monthly report and submit to the Supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • University degree or advanced training  / course in Business Administration, Sociology, Social Work, International Affairs, Humanitarian or related field
  • Experience in Livelihood Programming and trainings.
  • An understanding of humanitarian / civil society issues in the country and the region.
  • 1-2 years working experience, in the field of business and/or livelihood programs is required.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Previous working experience with humanitarian agencies
  • Experience working with displaced populations.
  • Experience with case management protocols desirable
  • Must be flexible and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good supervision skills and report writing.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to field locations regularly and sometimes on short notice

 

 

Job Title: Monitor

Location: Bama and Kukawa LGA, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Background

  • The Monitor will conduct monitoring of activities of the targeted beneficiaries for the Livelihood Project, set up monitoring according to designed standard procedures and accurate documentation on cash and/or items distributions.
  • S/he will communicate AUN/NHF project’s ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of the project in the field
  • Assist the Livelihood Centre Assistant in running field activities.
  • Inform the Livelihood Centre Officer and project officers about any problems in the camp or community.
  • Report every day about the development of the project in the field.
  • Assist in distribution of items meant for the PoCs and/or other beneficiaries.
  • Participate in community mobilization, registration processes.
  • Ensure that all documents related to the beneficiary’s activities are accurate and properly filed.
  • In case of cash disbursement, the Monitor must ensure that beneficiary sign or thumbprint against their names on the receipts as proof that they received such amount.
  • Complete required documents/forms related to Livelihood Project
  • Prepare food monitors report with all beneficiary distribution lists matching with signatures
  • Participate in training and sensitization of beneficiaries on distribution and other items.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • University degree, Diploma or advanced training / course in Social Work, Humanitarian or related field
  • Previous similar work experience
  • High-level communication skills and teamwork spirit.
  • Familiarity with host community culture
  • High Level of understanding of “NGO” Principles and approach
  • High level of ability to identify needs from the community
  • Ability to perform field assignments and willingness to travel in difficult terrain and security-risk areas.

 

Job Title: Driver

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Department: Atiku Center
Nature of Employment: Project Assignment
Duration: 1 (One) Year

Position Background

  • The Driver is in charge of driving staff to various destinations. The position holder will also provide logistics and administrative support to staff during workshop.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Driver is in charge of driving staff to various destinations.
  • Provide logistics and administrative support to staff during workshop.
  • Daily cleans vehicle and perform routine checks to ensure it has proper working tools.
  • Refuels vehicle using an approved fuel voucher and records this on the vehicle log sheet
  • Parks vehicle safely at the designated place at the end of each working day not later than 6 pm, travels after 6pm must have prior approval of the AG&C.
  • Ensure vehicle movement log book is filled accurately, timely and regularly.
  • Report to the STL and Logistics Coordinator, accidents or issues involving SENSE project vehicles.
  • Compliance with motor vehicle and travel policy of AUN and NHF regulations.
  • Ensure vehicles have tool kit, jack, umbrella, first aid box, map, fire extinguishers etc.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of SSCE and Trade test is an added advantage. At least 3-5 years working experience with an International organization with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Certificate on professional driving is an added advantage.
  • Must have a valid class B driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in Hausa is an added advantage.
  • Experience of USAID/other donor policy on driving and vehicle usage is an advantage.
