We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: General Manager – Farming Operations

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • The Incumbent would be responsible in managing a large scale, fully mechanized farming operation preferably in rice, The Project cultivates two crops of 4,400 ha per year, under flooded conditions, which are delivered to an onsite company owned Rice Mill.
  • The Job resposibilities would alos include Overseeing  farming operations. This is headed by a Farming Head and 6 Assistant Farm Managers.  Managing and Overseeing overall Mechanical operations.

Key Deliverables
Strategic Effectiveness:

  • Oversee overall administration departments and functions, including the procurement department, Human resources
  • Handle farming operations – Preferably have a good understanding of wetland rice production, Understand soil chemistry and be able to interpret soil and leaf analyses.
  • Developing the annual R&D projects in order to enhance the ability of achieving yields in excess of 6 mt/ha, twice annually.
  • Timely acquisition of spares and ensuring that pre and post season maintenance is carried out within the prescribed time frame and to the required standard in order that optimum availability is achieved at the lowest cost.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Farming Operations:
    • He/She would culture and maintain relationships with external Rice Agronomists, Rice Breeders and other specialist consultants in weed control and soil management.
    • Preferably have a good understanding of wetland rice production.
    • Understand soil chemistry and be able to interpret soil and leaf analyses.
    • Understand the pests and diseases associated with rice.
    • Understand water management in rice.
    • Assist in developing the annual R&D projects in order to enhance the ability of achieving yields in excess of 6 mt/ha, twice annually.
  • Financial, Administration and other farm related activities:
    • Oversee the annual zero-based departmental budget construction.
    • Timeously advise the financial controller and Vice President of any anticipated deviations to plans and the budget.
    • Oversee all administration departments and functions, including the procurement department.
    • Oversee the HR department.
    • Oversee the Security Department with the help of the Chief Security Officer to ensure that employees and assets are kept safe.
    • Maintain a healthy relationship with External Stakeholders, Government, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Police and Local Community Chiefs and the community.
  • Oversee Aircraft operations
    • The aircraft are used for Seeding, applying herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers.
    • Monitoring the status of the runway and support equipment to ensure that they do not impede on the operations of the aircraft.
  • Machine shop managed by a qualified fitter and turner that also manages all field equipment.

Organizational Effectiveness
Requirements:

  • He/She should be in possession of either a BSC degree in Agriculture or an Agricultural Diploma from a recognized Agricultural institute
  • He/She would be a person with sound practical farming experience and a love for machinery, which calls for a person with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • He/She would be a sensitive person with strong leadership abilities in order to lead, motivate and mentor a team of talented multinational Managers who would be reporting to him.

Job Title: Aqua Technical Manager

Location: Nigeria
Function: MATS
Sub-Function: MATS Common

Job Description

  • The Aqua Technical Manager will be the Aquaculture expert for the Fish Feed business.
  • He/She should not only be the subject matter expert on Aquaculture (Tilapia Farming in particular) but also have good project management & consultancy skills.
  • The primary responsibility of the person would be to help drive growth of aquaculture in Nigeria through development of Tilapia culture and thereby help grow our Aqua feed business.

Strategic Effectiveness
Develop Tilapia Farming:

  • Create economically viable models for Tilapia farming – both land and lake farming, suitable for Nigeria
  • Design & implement Tilapia farming projects in partnership with government & private organization.
  • Provide consultancy services to our customers who are into Tilapia farming in Nigeria (& rest of WAF)

Operational Effectiveness:

  • As an Aquaculture expert (particularly Tilapia expert) liaison with government bodies, farmer associations & other stakeholders (like developmental NGOs, financial institution etc.) to help direct the policies & actions in developing & diversifying aquaculture in Nigeria
  • Help create SOPs for land-based Tilapia farming for smallholder farmers & successfully role out the same in in selected farmer groups
  • Provide training to ATEs & farmers on Tilapia farming
  • Help develop Tilapia Hatcheries for ensuring Fingerling supply
  • Successfully role out model Tilapia farms (small holders) across different states and ensure their optimal operations & profitability so that they can help in faster adoption of Tilapia farming by the catfish farmers
  • Help the Aqua Technical Executives in managing farm level emergencies in the Catfish farms
  • Develop customized SOPs for catfish farmers working with different type of farming systems & Olam feeds
  • Should have a basic understanding of ROI and should be able to calculate farm level profitability & explain the same to farmers.
  • Monitor all feed trails being conducted from time to time & ensure structured data collection and reporting of the same

Requirements

  • Ideally a Bachelor’s degree in Aqua Culture (masters preferred). Should possess 8 to 10 years of work experience in hands-on Tilapia farm management
  • Experience in managing large scale operations and implementing behaviour-based safety programs.
  • Have a demonstrated ability in strategic planning with experience of successful implementation of new strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills, including experience managing multiple high priority projects simultaneously.  A detailed oriented person with a high level of accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to motivate a team of diverse experience.

Job Title: Maintenance Head

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • We invite dynamic and seasoned experts to lead maintenance & engineering dpartment for three pasta manufacturing factories.
  • The incumbent will be directly responsible for  engineering, Plant maintenance, and projects for the plants.
  • As a process leader, you will also manage site hygiene, health and safety of the unit and the teams working in them.

Strategic Effectiveness:

  • Manage provide effective technological support & collaborate with the engineering department to develop new equipment and machines.
  • Strong ability and In-depth exposure in handling new project expansions
  • Create SOP’s to ensure minimising down time and improve plat operations and effciency

Operational Effectiveness:

  • Understand the preventive maintenance system and equipment are down due to negligence and proper care on maintenance part ensure hygiene standards in all areas are maintained to the highest standards at a minimum above those required by BRC.
  • Planning of preventive & predictive maintenance for long and short pasta lines, Bhuler & Fava lines
  • Co-ordination with associates departments & contractors, generate of regular progress reports.
  • Strategic planning, decision making, analysis of operation parameters production efficiencies, yields, wastage reduction, manpower output,  EHS targets monitoring activity at sites, reviewing schedule, ensuring cost control within budget.
  • Handling technical indents, control, inspection & handling the materials & spares including workshop jobs for optimized plant availability & downtime reduction execution of out preventive and breakdown maintenance jobs of all mechanical equipment.

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ experience of handling maintenance, utilities and projects in several jobs as Mechanical engineer
  • Experience in managing large scale operations and implementing behaviour-based safety programs.
  • Have a demonstrated ability in strategic planning with experience of successful implementation of new strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills, including experience managing multiple high priority projects simultaneously.  A detailed oriented person with a high level of accuracy.
